I'm generally of the kneejerk, "defend all media all the time" persuasion, but I must say that in my experience KC local televsion media lacks legs in a discussion of their degree of helpfulness to a situation.

Local media shouldn't have ran it in the first place. They knew full well who she was with when they saw it. They have all been aware of who he is from day 1. He was here everyday supporting them. They only did it for them and their ratings.

But did any family confirm it was him? Cause if they ran it and gave his name, then later it turned out to be his look alike cousin, they would have had a lawsuit on their hands.

Stepping back and looking at all this, I see a real need for a re-think on how ANY media handles these cases. They have become so frequent and there have been no "ground rules" established. Its become a "free for all" with any and all media.

We all have seen how the parent(s) can be crucified - sometimes its rightfully so - but sometimes its just wrong.

I'm still on the fence with this one. I haven't passed judgement on anyone. It seems if there was a team that understands how these cases get blown up and even innocent people get hurt - that everything needs to remain neutral and the focus stay on the missing child, that it would be beneficial all the way around.

IMO if as much attention had been focused on "Jersey" and others in the immediate area of the home, Lisa might have been found. I hate that so much time has been wasted digging up dirt on the family, we all have dirt.:maddening:

In da Middle, just wanted to thank you again for all the insight you have ben kind enough to afford us here as a person who is literally living in the middle of this crazy media circus. You are helping me to get a real feel for what it has been like during all the searching, the press coverage, etc in your neighborhood.

I pray Lisa is found and this matter resolved soon so that life can assume some semblance of normal for you all over there. Til that happens, thanks for acting as my eyes and ears on the ground.

The thread is moving so fast, I'll ask again :)

Did anyone happen to catch what national network show the family is giving an interview on? I'd like to try to find out so I can watch it! TIA

As I walked in the room last night I heard something on tv about the grandparents going to be interviewed on nightline. I tuned in last night but it wasn't on. Is this maybe the same interview? I'm wondering if it will be tonight.

I really don't find spillover from the Anthony case to be helpful in understanding what's taking place in baby Lisa's.

Hmmm. Are you talking people or topics? Mods have been trying to get us "Anthony Case" people to visit other threads. IMO parallels bewteen cases CAN be helpful..that's why we have profilers. I think I'll stroll back over to the sidebar thread. Not feeling the love here.

Which is it...parents or no parents?

early on the family made a "deal" with national media and cut off interviews with local media (it was basically after their first interviews with locals that it happened)... not sure there is one planned anytime soon with national media? I didn't catch that

I was asking because I heard a reporter ask BS in the interview above about a promo for a network interview?

I thought I had missed the promo :) Want to make sure I watch it when it comes on (if it doesn't come on too late here for me, I'm 6 hours behind EST)

Yeah but then you come up with the reverse situtation. A video gets out of Momma with a man in a grocery store buying wine. (Locals got that, not national) They can't go to Momma and say what's up, cause Momma isn't talking to them. They can't say this is Momma's brother without some type of positive confirmation. And Momma and I would guess Brother aren't talking. LE wasn't saying. So they have to run with what they had. Momma and "an unidentified man." Makes it look even worse. And it was already bad enough with Momma buying wine on the night her baby goes missing.

But they did NOT run what they HAD.....before media released the tape, LE had already made it clear that they knew who was with her and that neither the shopping trip nor the man with her had ANY relationship to the case. LE made a clear and definitive statement about that long before local or national media started running the tape and repeating information that they KNEW was not accurate.

That's just it. I USUALLY am too. But after firsthand experiencing this media-made fiasco.....
They have created by far more problems than they have cured in this case. I just don't get it. If you went around treating somebody like that, would you really expect them to welcome you with open arms?

But you catch more flies with sugar than vinegar....

As I believe Kyron's dad learned very quickly!

Also I watched the news reporter who was in the video talking about the Festival Foods footage and I got the impression, My opinion only!, that the someone from the grocery store had contacted them. Kinda like hey did you know about this? LE did not contact them so how else woud they have known?

I'd like to add my thanks too. When I'm away for a length of time, I always do a search for In da middles posts. I feel like a stalker sometimes lol.

You don't think the fact that Momma went out to buy a box of wine might have a bearing on the case? They might not know if she drank it, or when she might have drank it. But they do know that she bought a box of wine just hours before her baby went missing.

Myself, I consider it pertinent. And I would guess that is really what bothers the parents, more so than the "unidentified man" which could be easily cleared up. Or could easily be cleared up if the parents were talking.

is not talking to the local media in the best interest of Lisa?? Lisa is who matters and I believe she DESERVES all the media attention. Im getting super :furious: Is BS really helping?

Personally I think they are just trying to control the media chaos. This couple is young, and they are naive. I believe they were becoming overwhelmed by the sheer numbers of people trying to get them to say something.
In this situation.....these parents are severely stressed, and their emotions are very raw. They could say or do something they don't mean. It really is in their best interests, and that of Baby Lisa, to try and tame the media beast.
I think that George and Cindy are perfect examples. They were harassed constantly until they broke, and when they acted out in public, people were brutal to them. The Anthonys had their faults, but George and Cindy did not murder Caylee, and they were clearly in deep emotional distress. The hounding they took at their home was undeserved, even if they did believe in Casey longer than they should have. They were demonized by the media and by the public for being imperfect people while they were at their lowest point.
I am not defending their choices, but they could have been treated a little kinder because they were Caylee's grandparents, and they did love her. Who knows? Maybe Cindy wouldn't have dug in so deep if she hadn't felt so defensive.
It seems that someone is trying to prevent that from happening to Deborah and Jeremy.
