What facts makes it ok to consider that Trayvon looked like a tug because he was in a hoodie?

Given that this is 2012, and there are thousands upon thousands of kids that wear hoodies as part of their regular daily wardrobe, they all should be stereotyped as thugs? hoodies are sold in every store out there.

I wonder why high schools and colleges are filled with kids wearing hoodies?

Or is it just the certain ones that wanted to wear the same kind of clothes as their all of their peers?

I really see just how important these hoodie protests really are.

Why would GZ need to look at a street sign in a neighborhood he had patrolled for a period of time. It only has 3 streets. Just how dumb are we supposed to believe he is? IMO

It will be a democracy when both sides of the story are heard. Then I will judge. I have heard the 911 call after a reporter told me what to listen for. Had I not been listening for that word I would never had heard it. jmo

I wasn't talking about the slur. I'm pointing out that the whole context of GZ's 911 call is slanted against Trayvon based on the way he looks, and not what Trayvon was DOING (i.e. walking with skittles and tea in his hands).

Wow. That's a BIG difference from the mugshot. GZ looks like he lost some weight too.

Thanks for posting a current picture of TM.. I also think it is strange that his father did not report him missing until the next morning. Wonder if he regularily stayed out all night? That is not an accusation just a question. jmo

I have been trying to figure out just HOW TM was beating on GZ and on the phone with his girlfriend at the same time.. AND didn't it say somewhere that the wound on the back oh GZ's head was in the process of healing and not fresh ??? I get more confuzeled by the minute with this case... :banghead::banghead:

His phone disconnected. It's never been alleged that he was on the phone at the same time as the altercation. He was on the phone immediately prior to it, to the extent of the girlfriend having heard some shuffling.

I believe Zimmerman stated he did not get stitches because the wound was too old by the time he went to the doctor the next day (which can be true). JMO

How can one "listen" to the call between TM and his girlfriend? It was not recorded.

I was listening to the news all weekend and I think it was on NG. They had what was being said in the call in "sub titles" they didn't actually play the recording but it was typed on the screen of what had been said. His girlfriend was telling him to run home to get away from "YES" the big bully that was following him. If someone was following you wouldn't you try and get away? I'd be scared for my life and if the person got within an arms length I would probably try and defend myself and I'm sure that's all that TM was doing.

I am afraid of legally permitted armed overzealous citizens following me on a dark rainy night.

I have no fear of clothing, although I do get the point being made by those who are discussing the hoodie aspect and the impression GZ might have received by seeing an unfamiliar AA male teen wearing one, as it is the type of first impression many many non AA citizens take from seeing someone in that garb.

Without debating the right and wrong of such leaps being made by the observer, I do get it.

The hoodie is just one of many aspects that may have led to a stereotyping. A hoodie by itself? No, I would not say that. That's something the media clung on to after Geraldo's comments. I would be curious as to know what exactly Martin was wearing that night.

Not me. Guns in the right hands save lives or cops wouldn't carry them. I am afraid of hoodies and baggy clothes because I know for a fact that teens carry concealed weapons within those clothes and they do use the hoodie to conceal a profile ID and cover their head - it definitely helps them conceal their identities. Teen zig and his little pot head buddies use them all the time to try and keep from being IDd by the the local cops when they are out blazin' where they shouldn't be. I have no idea why it's so hard for people to just admit that.

Not everyone who wears hoodies carry concealed guns.

Trayvon was wearing a hoodie. He was carrying skittles and a tea.

GZ had a concealed gun.

Trayvon is dead.

Stereotyping kills.

Sorry but in real life, the bad kids also wear the hoodies and use it to help conceal their identity. I know thuggy little teens. They used to hang out at my house until we had to kick them out. All thuggy teens wear these stupid hoodies. Maybe your kids wore them to keep the rain off their heads, I don't know...or for fashion because fashion likes to immitate gansta videos. Either way, blame the thugs for making the hoodie part of their costume, and get off my back.

By the same notion, I question the intent of white dudes walking through my neighborhood (since there aren't many of them). I'm not going to approach them, though... But maybe watch them to see if they're scoping anything out, yeah. I think it was more an unfamiliar character in a familiar place that got this whole thing started. Did race play a role? Maybe, but I don't think it was entirely about race.

We were deluged with misinformation about his being suspended because of tardiness, and told that a week long out of school suspension is perfectly normal for such a thing. I'm glad some actual facts are coming out.

The father said it was for being in a restricted area of the school. Is that not attempting to mislead?

I think everyone is asking way too much for a 17-year-old kid. He was being watched and followed by a strange man. He ran/walked fast, whatever. This paranoid gun toting rambo guy eventually catches up with Trayvon. I will never be convinced that a kid running away decided to go back and run towards what he was running away from. Trayvon asks Zimmerman: Why are you following me?

At this very moment, we don't know if Zimmerman pulled out his gun (which is what I think happened). Let's say he did, you're telling me your asking a 17-year-old kid to know what to do when a gun is pointed at him? Should he run and take the chance of getting shot in the back? Or should he try to disarm the mad man in his own defense? Can you all even for one second imagine how scared Trayvon must have been? How terrified? I wouldn't wish something like this happening to a 21-year-old, 31-year-old, 41-year-old. But good God, he was just a kid!

Common sense and my ears tell me that there was indeed a scuffle. If TM had seen the gun and it had been pulled on him, I doubt he would have attacked...more likely he would have been answering some questions and fast. Common sense tells me that the brawl began before the gun was pulled - perhaps TM saw it in a holster (total speculation). But saying that you know for sure TM did not instigate a physical confrontation is premature.

If someone has a gun and is threatening you and you take it away and use deadly force against them, I think that's pretty clearly self defense no matter what color you are.

of course it is...but would anyone have believed him. I didn't say i knew for sure, i said it was my guess...I don't know for sure,, no one really does. jmo

His Twitter and Facebook accounts were deleted. They were reported to have many references to life/culture on them. Someone posted links to caches in the previous thread. I imagine it all made Martin look bad, so the family/lawyer deleted them.

George Zimmerman looked like that as he was heading to the grocery store at 7 pm? That picture doesn't look like Trayvon either, I'm sure there are clearer pictures to use. IMO

Would showing those pictures justify the fact that he was killed under very suspicious circumstances?
