I thought he was talking to his girlfriend before Zimmerman started following him.

He was talking to his girlfriend throughout the whole walk. They have the whole phone call on record, so I don't know why everyone is so adamant that TM was doing something wrong. Normal kid, drinking ice tea and eating skiddles while talking to his girlfriend only to come across the big bully wanna be cop carrying a weapon. In California you can only shoot someone if they are inside your home, if they are in your yard you will go to jail no matter what their intention was. RIP Trayvon....

I'm sorry, but this says more about your kids in particular than it does about hoodies in general. I am a forty year old white woman living in an incredibly racially homogenous area. I own at least eight hoodies, I wear them all winter long. I walk the dog in them, I drop the kids off at school in them, I go to the grocery store in them. My children's elementary school is awash in hoodies, on any given day you will see more hoodies than any other outer wear.

I must confess that that I don't know ANY "thuggy little teens" but I do know a tremendous number of perfectly average people of many different ages, and they ALL wear hoodies. I posit that the hoodie is nigh on as ubiquitous as the t-shirt. Moo

EVERY time I see someone posting about this ridiculous "hoody thing" I can't help but think that these same supposed thugs also very obviously wear boxer shorts too......I am guessing that next some people will be suggesting that our teens should no longer be allowed to wear underwear!!!!!!

It's not just that one piece of clothing. It's an entire look that includes that piece of clothing. I'm not sure anyone other than Geraldo has said that the hoodie solely gives this impression.

This means Trayvon's father is lying about why he was suspended. I hope this family realizes horrible publicity works both ways. I am so disgusted right now, watching Al Sharpton on CNN - he's at a town meeting, in a church, asking for tithes for this family, insisting on $100 bills. You can't make this stuff up. Without the facts of the case, with all the hyperbole surrounding it by the media, CNN conducted a poll and 75% of those polled believe Zimmerman (with the 7 yr. old mugshot on the screen), believe he should be arrested. I'm beyond disbelief.

I don't understand why you don't believe that a man who shot a minor should be arrested.

I would like to see Zimmerman's written police report and his recorded interview with LE the night of the shooting so I can see for myself what Zimmerman states in both. Then follow that up with later statements.

I would also like to ask Bill Lee why he stated Zimmerman was jumped from behind while walking to his truck, and in this new news report, it is saying that Zimmerman states that he was knocked down with a punch to the nose. Can you punch someone in those nose when you jump them from behind? They had to have been face to face?

He had time when he knew he was being followed.

With great respect I share this...

If every victim of a crime had the ESP knowledge that their lives were in hanging in the balance of time, I have absolutley no doubt they would have dialed 911. Trayvon included.

Your point is neither here nor there.

And if Zimmerman is arrested, the court outcome will most likely be the same, IMO. Acquittal.

I believe Mr Zimmerman's story about as much as I believe Casey Anthony!!

I personally feel a physcial struggle ensued and THEN the gun came into play.

Whether GZ in a close combat situation thought TM may disarm him, whether TM was getting the better of GZ in that struggle, whether TM, after the struggle ensued, saw the gun and then began literally fighting for his life, whatever the reason, I think the gun came out in the midst of a very physical, close, struggle, in a moment of panic/desperation.

This feeling does not change my opinion that GZ was the initiator of this entire situation by following and then confronting/trying to restrain TM (MOO no link will be provided).

I agree up to GZ being the initiator, according to 911 GZ said TM was coming toward him adding TM's GF stating TM said "Why are you following me"she heard GZ reply IMO at this point they were face to face.So if you believe TM's GF then TM initiated first contact IMO GZ knew police were on the way he did not need to restrain TM.

Slightly off topic but important IMO.

Thank you to our mods who have been kept truly hopping and whose patience must surely have been tested by this case.

This is a really hot topic nationally right now. This is also a very emotional one. There are very strong opinions all the way round.

Thank you to our mods who are working so furiously to keep us all on track.

Thanks as well to the members who have hotly debated this case along with me. Whether we have agreed or view things differently, I appreciate the way you have all kept it clean, kept it non personal and have tried to express your views and opinions so that I may understand.

I love my websleuth family even though we don't always agree

Sitting behind my computer, it's easy to say what I think i would do. In the moment I have no idea how I would immediately react or what I would do.

Maybe we should say that rape victims are also at fault for not doing more to stop or prevent their rapes or they should know that if they wear a certain outfit they may get raped so it's their fault then too.

But if a kid was supposed to know and act in the manner that everyone believes a victim should act to prevent a crime against them, then the same or even more should apply to GZ. A grown man should have been smart enough to know that you don't follow someone you feel is suspicious, with a loaded weapon, if there's a chance that you might get hurt.

IMO, I do not hear Zimmerman running.

Well the girlfriend said Trayvon was walking fast and we can hear Zimmerman running on the 911 call. He could have caught up with him if he was walking fast.

He did not need esp his girlfriend verified TM knew he was being followed. That is reason enough to call 911 IMO.So respectfully my point is valid IMO.

PD were en-route..a couple of minutes away. Do you really think that Zimmerman, knowing this, would have shot Trayvon in ANY other situation than in a fight?

A fight that Zimmerman wholly instigated.

Except the bloody nose and swollen lip that law enforcement saw with their own eyes.

Unless of course you think he is diabolical enough to have struck himself in the face after the shooting so he could argue TM attacked him first.

I don't recall witnesses stating that he had blood on him. The two witnesses that I heard believe this was not self defense and that GZ was nonchalant after the shooting and did not try to render aid. His demeanor before and after the shooting was very layed back and neither time did he seem to be in fear.

Funny I did not hear him running either.

He's at least walking fast. He may not be running, but you can tell by the wind and how he talks that he is not just walking slowly.

It seems far more likely that it was windy out, rather than he was moving fast enough to actually cause an audible noise from air movement. JMO

If Trayvon was so scared why not call 911 instead of his girlfriend? Does that make sense at all? If I am scared of someone I call 911 not a boy friend.

He was already on the phone with his GF when GZ started following, then he thought he lost GZ and probably wasn't concerned at that point. Suddenly GZ was there, they asked each other a question, and then a scuffle is heard. Tell me when Trayvon was supposed to call 911.

Listen to? Is there a recording of the phone call between Martin and his gf? Or do you mean read the transcripts of the what she claims to have been the conversation? One she (or a representative of hers) only revealed aprox 3 weeks after Martin was shot, and then only in an exclusive to ABC television?

Did you listen to the phone call of Trayvon with his girlfriend? The kid was scared for his life understandably. He had this big brut following him for no apparent reason. Poor Trayvon probably thought he was being attacked by some robber and Trayvon was the one defending himself. How is it possible for this story to get so twisted? There was no reason whatsoever to shoot an innocent 17 year old kid regardless of what color he was!!!!!!!!!!:banghead:
