MSNBC...covering the case on the Ed Show...

Someone brought up a good point.

The police report states:

It later says:

http://cnninsession.files.wordpress.com/2012/03/martinpolicreport.pdf

So the officer never asked, "why?"

I mean, the 911 callers were asked lots of questions, and they were not even central to what was going on. I really don't believe that the police at the scene never asked him anything.

JMO

They leave the questioning to the detectives. This statement was just verifying the officer had asked no questions.

If you look at GZ call that night with a dispatcher he did not say what race till he was asked and then he still did not know until TM was coming his way.

Since it is off topic, I will make just this one post about it. Thanks to all that have shown concern about my post describing when I was robbed. Well, it may not be off topic after all...the case went to the Virginia State Supreme Court on appeal (they upheld the decision). I will have to check the record to see who the three Magistrates were that made the decision - how much of a coincidence would it be if Zimmerman's father was one of them? But again, thanks all.

WoW, I didn't see this article before. Zimmerman is no stranger to violence, shoving and drama.

Newly available documents reveal conflicting accounts of a violent relationship in the past of George Zimmerman, the Sanford man who fatally shot 17-year-old Trayvon Martin last month.

The court records concern a conflict between Zimmerman and his ex-fiancée, who filed a petition accusing Zimmerman of pushing her during an argument at her Orlando home in August 2005.

The woman reported Zimmerman had arrived at her home Aug. 8 and asked to talk. Later, when she asked him to leave, she said, he insisted on staying and demanded documents she had.

The woman said she offered to drop the papers off the following day, but Zimmerman became upset, took her cellphone and shoved her. A fight ensued, she said, and her dog bit Zimmerman's cheek.

I personally do not know exactly what would be on such a record, and I don't think we should concern ourselves with it because the DJJ says the record doesn't exist.

There's no wiggle room IMO; Trayvon has NO juvenile record.

IF the record only consists of major crimes, and he has no record, that means he committed no major crimes. That's even more reason to let it go, and leave this issue alone IMO.

Thank you ! :rocker:

There is no proof of that!!

If some stranger were following you at night for no apparent reason wouldn't you think that he was going to mug you or something, TM was probably fearful for his life and he should have been because he's DEAD!

There is a police report and an eyewitness that certainly point to TM assaulting GZ that night. If GZ's past is relevant, so is TM's until we know who started the fight.

I am so confused. At first, the way the media portrayed it, I thought Zimmerman chased down TM and shot him just because he was black and wearing a hoodie. Now, we are hearing from police reports AND an eye witness who is saying that TM was the attacker, and I don't know who to believe anymore.

People are saying that Zimmerman continued to follow TM after being told by the dispatcher they didn't need him to do that. How do we know this is true? I don't. Zimmerman said "Okay" to that. How do we know that he DIDN'T stop following him then and start walking back to his vehicle? We don't, do we?

I hear on the 911 tape Zimmerman saying, "He's COMING to check me out." COMING means walking or running TOWARD Zimmerman, not running FROM Zimmerman with Zimmerman following him. TM is coming toward Zimmerman.

Zimmerman's injuries support his story. A broken nose and lacerations on the back of his head. The eye witness supports Zimmerman's story. He said Zimmerman was wearing red and the one in red was the one on the ground with the other person on top pounding and punching the daylights out of the one on the ground. Zimmerman's back was wet per police report and he was bleeding from a broken nose and lacerations on the back of his head.

Until ALL the facts come out, I'm not comfortable saying that Zimmerman should be arrested nor that TM is the cause of his own death, so I will be neutral until all the facts are out. It's a horrible thing no matter what happened or who caused it. It's also a horrible thing that the New Black Panthers have put out a bounty on Zimmerman and that the two biggest racists in the country, Al Sharpton and Jesse Jackson, are even involved with this issue. MOO

He links young black men to burglaries because young black men had committed burglaries in that neighborhood and not been caught. Not typecasting it was true.

Were there any burglaries committed by whites in the neighborhood? ^i^

I'm not all the way caught up with this thread yet but there sure seems to be a lot of people who are sleuthing the victim here today and who are sleuthing a minor (the victim). Both of which I thought WS forbids in their forums.

That's what I'd draw from it, too... However, I'm wondering under what authority the representative was able to release that information. The statutory law surrounding the release of juvenile records seems to be fairly strict. I would've thought that if such a thing were to occur, it would have been through the parents so that the justice department couldn't be held liable.

ETA: And thanks for the update about the questions.

BBM above

From your link:

snipped by me: official records required by this chapter are not open to inspection by the public, but may be inspected only upon order of the court by persons deemed by the court to have a proper interest therein, except that a child and the parents, guardians, or legal custodians of the child and their attorneys, law enforcement agencies, the Department of Juvenile Justice and its designees, the Parole Commission, the Department of Corrections, and the Justice Administrative Commission shall always have the right to inspect and copy any official record pertaining to the child.

From the article:

The state Department of Juvenile Justice confirmed Monday that Martin does not have a juvenile offender record. The information came after a public records request by The Associated Press.

Hopefully that clears it up?

Have you listened to the 911 tape where GZ calls him a <mod snip>?
He knew he was black..listen to the tapes again. It's also quite interesting reading all of GZ;s prior 911 contacts how often black comes up...very telling, IMO

Just read to the whole thread.
And just some observations.
I do believe that athletic Tray decked him in one good punch on the nose. That would account also for the fat lip and injury on the back of the head when 250lbs of mass hits the ground/pavement. If Tray would have continued to pummel him, I would expect some black/blue eyes or some black/blue fingerprint marks on GZ's face while Tray was bouncing GZ's noggin on the ground/pavement with his fingers on his GZ's face.
Tray was shot at close range but how close and from what position? Was Tray standing up and GZ shot him while laying in a prone position? We need answers on that.
Witness accounts said Tray was on top but other witness accounts say GZ was on top while straddling him which I found rather strange. So they could be easily confused.
And all while we are only talking about a 1 minute hiatus.
GZ account of verbal communication with Tray does not mesh with Tray's GF recollection.
Using Occam's razor principle:
Athletic Tray decked GZ in one good punch when he was confronted and/or harassed by GZ . Fear/anger was his motive.
GZ shot Tray , possibly while GZ was still on the ground and out of anger/hurt ego, but possibly fear also.
There was no premeditation by GZ. It was a situation that quickly escalated out of control and due to having a gun handy, ended in a homicide..
GZ probably wishes by now , he never got out of his car or at least would have left his gun at home..He will never get to be a cop, that dream was destroyed.
I do not believe GZ left his car with the intention to murder a black kid. However, I do not believe he is completely honest in his account of the events.
But let the courts figure it out.
Both Tray and GZ have undoubtedly loving families/relatives. It is a tragedy for all of them.
I still have problem with SYG statute though since this was not a " by chance" confrontation but a "deliberate" one, orchestrated by a rather eager for brownie points GZ.
And subject statute does not cover such instigated confrontations adequately. All IMO only.

He links young black men to burglaries because young black men had committed burglaries in that neighborhood and not been caught. Not typecasting it was true.

Nobody saw who committed the burglaries. Some of the neighbors assumed that some young black men seen in the area were the burglars. George took that assumption and ran with it. Calling the police multiple times to report young black men acting "suspicious" and mentioning the burglaries.

I don't know if this has been posted, but I find it a very unfortunate example of life imitating art (or is it art imitating life?)...

After Trayvon Martin, Will Fox Pull Ben Stiller Comedy 'Neighborhood Watch'?

Quote: Talk about bad timing. Fox has a big summer comedy scheduled for July 27th called “Neighborhood Watch.” Ben Stiller, Jonah Hill, Vince Vaughn and Billy Crudup star as a quartet of volunteer watchmen who ride around in a suburban community looking for trouble.

I am sure there were but from a link someone posted early on it said black teems had committed robberies and were not caught. I do not live in his state so I was going by what was posted from news.

iN ORIGINAL SPD REPORT, GZ WAS CUFFED AND TRANSPORTED AND DETAINED AND QUESTIONED:

What are we even thinking about? A 28 yr old man in a truck gets out and follows a teen and shoots him with a gun...what is there to even think about? GZ was the original 911 caller...identifying a guy walking "while black":( When will we as a nation stop pretending we are colorblind? ^i^

The article says it was in response to a public information request by the Associated Press. I hypothesize that stating that they have no records pertaining to Trayvon Martin is not the same violation of privacy that releasing records if they did exist, might be. Moo

Funny how it works one way with calls for vigilantes, ala a reverse-KKK (of course in black hoods instead of white ones) but when there is no question that the act was unjustified we hear..... crickets....

A 13-year-old boy who police say was doused with gasoline and lit on fire last week while walking home from school is recovering from first-degree burns to his face and head.

The boy was just two blocks from his home in Kansas City Tuesday when two teenagers began to follow him and then attacked him, his mother, Melissa Coon, said.

Police have described the suspects as black 16-year-olds, while the victim is white.

Bet you didn't hear about that all over the national media.

WHY NOT?

IT DIDN'T HAVE ANYTHING TO DO WITH THE COLOR OF THE SKIN OF THE SUSPECTS AND MOST-ESPECIALLY THE VICTIM, RIGHT?

Oh, and as for Martin and Zimmerman in Sanford? You might want to read this:

With a single punch, Trayvon Martin decked the Neighborhood Watch volunteer who eventually shot and killed the unarmed 17-year-old, then Trayvon climbed on top of George Zimmerman and slammed his head into the sidewalk, leaving him bloody and battered, law-enforcement authorities told the Orlando Sentinel.

And before you say it's all "he-said, she-said" let's again quote the original police report:

Looks like corroborating physical evidence might have been found....

And why was Trayvon there?

Trayvon was visiting his father's fiancée, who lived there. He had been suspended from school in Miami after being found with an empty marijuana baggie. Miami schools have a zero-tolerance policy for drug possession.

Of course everyone carries around an empty marijuana baggie, right? Speaking of which, how does one know if a baggie is a marijuana baggie and not a more-ordinary baggie that previously contained, oh, a ham-and-cheese sandwich? I doubt it was labeled "marijuana baggie" to ease identification as a piece of contraband. Might there have been a bit of marijuana still in the baggie? If there was that of course leaves one to wonder if there was previously more marijuana in the baggie that someone might have consumed, yes? Maybe very recently consumed? After all how long would you carry around an empty bag that once used to contain drugs, considering that it no longer has anything of value in it? It's not like it's hard to get a new baggie if you want to acquire more weed, right?

Just curious, of course...

At a Monday news conference, Trayvon's mother, father and their lawyers called the report that their son was suspended from school because of a marijuana baggie irrelevant and needlessly hurtful.

Trayvon's father, Tracy Martin, said "even in death, they are still disrespecting my son, and I feel that that's a sin."

Irrelevant? Not at all. It explains what Trayvon was doing there. It is therefore quite relevant.

As for being a sin to comment on this is Trayvon's father using a special selective version of the Bible? You know which one that is -- that's the version of the Lieberally-Enhanced Sharpie-Marker Bible that only labels acts sinful if particular people engage in them while for other people essentially anything -- including maybe bashing people's heads against sidewalks -- is ok.

Read the rest of the Orlando Sentinel article. It's quite interesting and raises many questions -- questions we should demand answers to particularly given the media circus and rather-biased "reporting" we've seen thus far on this incident.

Oh, and while we're at it can we all please see some actual authenticated recent pictures of Trayvon? I'm kinda interested in exactly how big-and-built this "kid" was, given that it's reported and supported by physical evidence that he managed to both jump Zimmerman and pin him, then pound his head on the sidewalk. There's a bunch of pictures floating around the Internet, along with a number of captured copies of tweets that allegedly were from Trayvon too, before his friends, family (or his family's lawyers) got them removed. I have no way to validate any of this material but the picture of events we're seeing as actual evidence emerge into the public eye isn't quite what we've all been told by certain rather-interested parties. And what's with trademark registrations that were recently filed?

This, incidentally, is why I looked at the police report originally. It didn't jive with Zimmerman being the aggressor -- but it sure did if, as was reported, Zimmerman was knocked down, mounted and then pounded upon.

The reported lacerations on the back of Zimmerman's skull are consistent with having his head slammed on the sidewalk by Martin as well.

Now perhaps as more evidence emerges into the public eye my view on this incident will change. I tend to look at virtually everything I see with a jaundiced eye these days when the media gets hold of a story, especially a story like this one. But when you have physical evidence, one of the participants' stories and witnesses who all converge, that's pretty compelling stuff.

For my opinion to change the facts in the public view would have to change or be augmented. I've got an open mind on this, but it isn't going to change due to people screaming "Racism!", especially not when the loudest screamers are professional agitprops like Jesse Jackson and Al Sharpton, and it definitely won't change when there are calls for blatantly felonious conduct to take place, such as kidnapping with a $10,000 bounty offered for anyone willing to break the law in such a fashion. (Oops -- looks like one of the New Black Panther Party's members was busted for alleged possession of a firearm as a convicted felon this morning in Georgia. Oh darn.)

I have just one question for everyone who is considering this case, including Chuckie Schumer and Jesse-The-Racist Jackson, both of whom would love to ban guns, even when used for apparent defensive purposes (but do not, apparently, call to ban gasoline when used to douse and set aflame white kids):

Exactly how many times will you consent to having your head slammed on concrete by someone who knocks you down and then gets on top of you before you conclude that you have the right to defend yourself, including through the use of deadly force?

Is that threshold reached before or after your skull is cracked open like a coconut and your brains are splattered all over the sidewalk? Are you willing to voluntarily submit to that test in person? (Hint: It ain't felony assault if you consent; that's masochism, and it's legal!)

Please answer in public so you're "on the record." After all, we wouldn't want to misunderstand your actual position on exactly when everyone is in the clear exercising the unalienable right to not die when having their head slammed against concrete by an alleged assailant.

Oh, and while you're contemplating that please also consider where the reporting and "in your face" coverage is on the white boy up above who was doused in gasoline and set afire by, it appears, two older black teens.

<modsnip>

No it was stated in an article it was not an assumption. I do not book mark links but if I come across it I will add it.
