Now having twenty bucks on you is suspicious?! When I go to the store for a gallon of milk I don't go through my wallet, take the twenty out and return the five because I only need a gallon of milk. I keep my walking around money in my wallet, not my piggy bank. Besides, Trayvon's piggy bank was pretty far away.
Also, i don't know when the last time you or your former teens bought pot was, but it is legal here and twenty bucks really won't get you far. No pot was found on Trayvon, Zimmerman certainly didn't mention seeing him smoking anything, hard to mix a batch of pot brownies on the way home from the store. Moo

Thank you for this post. I had to go to the store early this morn. I had over $70 cash on me to get tissues, tea, and cold meds. And I was wearing a Big Steelar's jacket cause I have the flu with the chills. I did look scary and suspicious with my big red nose and teary eyes. LOL I look like this when I need to sneeze :what:

:waitasec: I find this very confusing. I cannot figure how his having $22 in change after making his ice tea and skittle purchase points to him being more likely to have been up to anything illegal that evening?

We really don't know what he was doing before or planned to do that evening.

the tox reports will tell a lot.

You can tell from the 911 tape. He's clearly hustling, you can hear it in his voice, he's breathing heavily. The dispatcher says they don't need him to do that, and he says "okay". There's no longer the shakiness of his voice, and he's clearly talking to the dispatcher, giving him a name (which appears to be when he sounds like he got a little winded) and phone number (when he talks like normal). 2:07 Trayvon is running
2:10 hear car dings as if the door opens, Trayvon headed toward back entrance
2:20 heavy breathing/wind…racial slur (?)
2:23 dispatch asks Zimmerman if he’s following him

2:28 Zimmerman responds by saying “Okay”
2:38 Zimmerman says again “he ran”
2:55 Zimmerman say he wants to meet with an officer
3:17 Zimmerman says go past mailboxes, you’ll see my truck
3:36 Zimmerman doesn’t know where Trayvon is
3:44 Zimmerman agrees to meet by mailboxes
3:51 Zimmerman wants to be called instead

So, Zimmerman had plenty of time to return to his vehicle while he was still on the phone with 911. From the time you hear the car dings (I take it Zimmerman exited the vehicle at this point, which is followed by wind or heavy breathing) to the time dispatch says stop following is only 16 seconds. 12 seconds later, he says again that Trayvon ran.

How did these two meet up again?

What do Trayvon's plans for that evening have to do with the fact that he was followed and shot by an armed man who was told he didn't need to follow the boy? I am not trying to be snarky. I just don't understand how Trayvon's actions resulted in the death penalty. Even if he was breaking into a house, or a car none of those crimes gave GZ a private citizen the right to kill him. In fact if GZ had waited for police to arrive the situation would have been resolved peacefully. GZ chose to up the ante, not Trayvon. IMO JMO MOOOOOO

Again, just jumping off your post :)

I listened to it and it could be anything. Not really relating to this incident, but i get real uncomfortable when our freedom of speech starts getting trampled on.

Well, I hope any nefarious deeds he was killed before having the opportunity to undertake didn't require deep pockets. Around here $22 bucks will barely get you a movie ticket and a bucket of popcorn.

And seriously, since they legalized pot here two years ago, we have a dispensary on every corner and they advertise their prices all over. It's been almost two decades since I left college and I was SHOCKED to see what a "dime" bag costs now! I think the dispensaries here would laugh at twenty bucks! Moo

And if he had quit following Trayvon and was heading back to his car WHY would he want dispatch to have the responding LE call him to find out where he was, why did he not just sit in his car where it was?

I can answer that one myself, because he had no intention of going back to his car, he had not stopped following and he didn't know where he would be, but he was having them call him because he was not going to be at his car.
IMO JMHO and stuff

$22 isn't going to get you far in terms of illegal activity. I can't believe we're actually debating this.

It is entirely possible that he got around the corner out of eyesight of GZ, and GZ went in front of the apartments and cut through between two buildings instead of following the exact path that TM took.

We don't know where GZ was parked when he called LE, nor where TM was located when GZ claimed he was running, or where either of them were when GZ claims that he didn't know where "that kid" is. So there is far too much room for error to truly make an interpretation of how fast or how slow anyone was walking or that they stopped. IMO JMHO and stuff

Actually, we do know from the 911 call. Zimmerman started out in front of the club house, which is where he made the call, the then traveled to the cut through road, where Trayvon started running.

& Trayvon's parents were not home. He could have invited whomever he was engaging in such activity with to the townhome he was staying at...:twocents: :moo:

Maybe he was just repeating himself?

Pure speculation: I can envision a scene with GZ stopping pursuit, bending over to catch his breath, and then repeating himself to the dispatcher. It's getting dark, or is already dark out, it's rainy, visibility is poor, and GZ doesn't realize how close TM is to him. After GZ gets off the phone, TM confronts him (or GZ realizes TM is nearby and confronts him). Speculation only.

The biggest problem that I have with this case is that, unfortunately, GZ's story is plausible. And the scant witness account(s) and evidence appear to support his version (or most of his version) of events. JMO, OMO, MOO, etc.

no one denies his right to say whatever he chooses, and he is not going to be arrested for what he said, even if it is the rankest of racial slurrs

But, when you make a racial slur on the phone when you are talking with LE, you really should know full well that those calls are recorded, and when after making a racial slur against a specific group of Americans a 17yr old boy of that ethnicity ends up dead, shot by your gun, you should be aware that people are going to imply motives based on the racial slur and the result of your actions that night.

Has nothing to do with freedom of speech...

Not sure how we know these things to be facts. I don't see any official report outlining with GPS technology who was where at which points in the call with GZ and the dispatcher. I would consider them speculation based on available information and upon the info being provided by GZ in the call. Many do not feel GZ's word should be taken as fact. I am one of them.

Fact is, there are very few facts in this case as it is still being investigated. Mostly we have opinion and speculation to go on.

Fact Trayvon Martin is dead. Fact Trayvon was unarmed. Fact George shot Trayvon and claims he did so in self defense. Fact George was not arrested because LE states they are not allowed to arrest someone claiming self defense.

That is pretty much it for the facts as I see it thus far in this case. ALL the rest of what we are debating here is still open to interpretation and up for grabs to my mind.

Vlpate, where is this "cut through road" that I keep seeing mentioned? TIA

Or maybe he was going to get in his car and drive to the back gate, where he thought TM was heading. JMO, OMO, MOO, etc. (I need a cow icon for all my MOOing)
