Then forget the police, for gods sake get more cameras, and hook up you’re alarm system , if the police cant do anything at last blare that alarm throughout the neighborhood.
Another thing, mine will talk, “front door open”, “back door open” it can drive a person nuts, if you have people in and out.what if they shut the alerts off b/c of the baby even? It’s just doesnt make sense that if they were aware of him creeping around, why we dont see a better working, security system. Then again I dont know what they have.
The whole alarm system issue bugs me because especially if she knew he was around Dec6, why didn’t they have the alarm system on on 12/30? Or was he able to deactivate it?

IDK if he figured out how to deactivate it. I know I can reset my code but i have to be inside to do it because i have to touch the actual motor. on the ceiling.
There was a rental one house away. It was the 4th house from the corner or there was a house in between them. That house Was for rent. It said at the time i first looked ( early Jan) that it had been listed for rent for 2 weeks, It still says the same thing, so i dont know how long its been for rent. I know someone lives there now. Could he have sent her a message that night, saying he was moving in next door? Maybe thats his story if anyone asked he Just went to look at a rental property. ?

She sure is.
She also has a lot of integrity it seems, so I am happy she is on this case. She will do what she believes is right, and she has good judgement.

Has anything been said about putting trackers on their cars?

All the time he was ruining Monique's life before he ended it (and Spencer's too of course), did he not realize that he was doing the exact same thing to himself? He can't be sane.

Someone mentioned air tags being a possibility. I dont know what equipment is out these days, for tracking.

Maybe there was a house key hidden outside the house and he found it, and made a copy? Has it been confirmed their security system was functional and operating?

I dont think we have heard one word about their security system, whether it was working, or turned off or on?? We can see a ring camera at the front door, and a sign on their lawn that indicates they have a security system thats about the extent of it.

so did he text MT a threat Dec 6th?

The affidavit says "Michael D. McKee had told Monique that he could kill her at any time and would find her and buy the house right next to her ".

On Dec 6th, maybe he sent MT a photo of their neighbour's house, perhaps even a selfie of himself in front of it? It would freak her out but not be anything illegal.

ITA and I do apologize for not making it more clear in my post yesterday that I was alluding to an unapproved type of practice, ie. 'backroom' kind of thing. I think there would be a need for that kind of thing in a prison, providing stitches, setting broken bones, attending to small wounds that he could do with no real supplies for those who didn't want to go to the infirmary.

I am always amazed to learn just how resourceful prisoners can be, shocked actually.

JMO

how could he do any of that with no supplies?

He could have sent a pic of the house on apartments.com that says that house (1419) was for rent. Just seems awfully coincidental that she was upset the same day he was at their house, and he has threatened to move next door when there is actually a house for rent one house over.

I want to know how much danger the Tepes knew they were in. I'd like to see an article with a rundown of MM's behavior towards MT post-divorce, and lots more info about the Dec 6 incident.

The Dec 6 college football game was at night (8pm). Perhaps MM was at Tepe home in evening and didn’t think he would be seen by neighbors or identifiable if detected on camera? MOO.

Yes I agree. He knew people would be glued to their TV sets and most likely have friends over.
Lots of tailgate food and adult beverages. Hosts will be too busy to notice the neighbors and the guests won't care.

Just like I stated here before. The night of the murder was the only night during the holidays when people would not be having a party, not entertaining, and most likely going to bed early,

The next night was New Year's Eve and the Cotton Bowl. Columbus was giddy with excitement because of the convergence of these two events on the same night. There were going to be parties galore on New Year's Eve. The day before people were getting ready for parties and having an early night, the next day would be a big day.

Columbus is a huge football town. The joke is that football is the city's religion, but it is not really a joke. :(.

MM went to school in Cbus and he knows the drill. He used it to his advantage in terms of planning this crime.

Me too, because it would be helpful to know timelines ( ie when He talked about moving next door) was that 5 years ago or recently?
Hard to put things into context when you dont know what has happened over the last 5 years and when

I didn’t mean to make it sound like I think he was hanging out in the yard the whole time, of course not. It’s still unclear whether he made access inside the home on this trip, or if the ‘hours’ referenced are just when he arrived in the area and then later left the area.

I’m interested in what time this recon trip took place. If he sent something to Monique or she saw him on her Ring doorbell sometime during the first half of the game, that puts it between 8 & 930. In December it’s pitch black at that time so no issue there, but on a Saturday + game day (albeit not a home game) + campus adjacent neighborhood, that’s pretty risky. Even if he somehow knew Spencer and Monique were in Indianapolis, it’s not uncommon for whoever is watching them to travel to the kids’ home vs packing up everything toddlers need and sticking them in a car. Of course, if you watch a house for an hour starting at say 8pm, you can usually tell if it’s occupied or not. A light flicks on, somebody walks by a window, blinds get drawn.
MM was obviously reconnoitering the area ahead of his crime. And laying the groundwork for the future crime?

He deliberately chose the night of Dec 6th, the Big Ten National Championship game. It was an away game so he knew people, especially in that location, would be out of town, attending parties, or hosting parties. At the very least people would be glued to their TV sets, not paying attention to what was happening outside. There would drinking and what have you. Making for unreliable witnesses in the unlikely event someone noticed him or cared that night. If someone did call 911 when they saw him, police might be busy that night and not respond?

So what was he doing there? Gathering information? Where to park, where are the cameras, how to enter the home. Did he stash something in the garage? Did he put a tracking device on Tepe's cars? Did he damage the security locks on the doors? Break a basement window? Enter the home and get the layout.

I would assume kids were dropped off at grandma/grandpa's house, or aunt/uncle prior to parents heading for Indianapolis. Or perhaps grandma or sitter came to stay at the house, less likely however.

Yes if someone did stay at the house with the kids, they had to be fed, bathed, put to bed. So lights on in the living room, kitchen, upstairs.

Maybe he damaged the security system and the Tepes were working on getting it repaired or replaced? Or he tampered with it somehow in a way that was not noticeable but gave him access to the home?

I just asked the same question. Did he enter the garage to put trackers on the cars.

So then they would know it isn’t working. And know he was messing with their security. That would definitely warrant a call to police.
I just had someone in for mine because the device needed replacing on one of my sliding doors. I wasn’t able to turn it on. Any issue with any window/door-that would happen.
How were they living secure at all knowing this guy was stalking them?
It was suggested on a podcast that she didn’t tell Spencer he was texting her on the 6th, so as not to worry him. Pure speculation. This woman also got it wrong that they just moved into the house (they were there 5 years)…..
I keep going back to how she looks to me in that Christmas photo. Very stressed. What a nightmare-the poor woman.
