My grandpa got in the wrong car at the store and put his key in it and it worked and was driving away when the owner flagged him down. LOL LOL

That has to be the funniest thing I have read in a long time LOL.

I don't see Trayvon's family teaching him differently than any other mother and father would teach their child? I give his mother more credit than this. Of course she would encourage her son to call 911 and to run if he is scared for his life. I can't imagine any mother telling their child not to run from someone who scares him, and not to call 911 because they'll probably just take their time getting there. In movies, maybe.

LE can't say "when we get a free car". They have to treat every emergency call the same.

That's not always possible, IMO. They have to prioritize calls according to need and level of emergency. Just like a triage in an emergency room.

If there happened to be only two calls - one from TM saying, "this creepy dude is following me" and the other from GZ, saying what he said in the taped call to the dispatcher, I wonder which one they would consider a priority?

MOO

17 year old boys do not have the mindset of calling 911. Especially if they are people of color. There is a culture thing going on here that people just don't get.

They may not call the police if it involves their kin / brother. BUT if they are scared and not on thier turf, you bet they would call 911.

I've seen a lot of comments about African Americans being less apt to call LE than Caucasians, but didn't see any links to back up these statements. So I did a quit Google and sure enough, found a poll to back up these claims.

Police and public confidence
Percent of public reporting a great deal of confidence in the police, 2001: 57%
Percent of Whites reporting a great deal of confidence in the police, 2001: 59%
Percent of African-Americans reporting a great deal of confidence in the police, 2001: 38%

I am one to wonder if the other people he called LE about really existed?

I tend to think they did. They're lucky to be still be alive. IMO

I don't have links, but I have personal experience living in the SF Bay Area, which has several predominately black cities. My friend whom I mentioned works for John Burris, a black attorney who is a frequent guest commentator on Nancy Grace, the news, and other CNN shows...

They just might have realized that the two callers were the follower and the person being followed. If that happened then GZ might have been told to stop following he is guest of dads girlfriend in condo # whateverJMO.In my police station both 911 and non emergency number is in the same call room.Who knows if it might have been enough to stop the shooting JMO.

IMO A teen being followed would of had a car first and as fast as possible.

The buildings aren't very far apart. This is speculation here, and I'm no sound engineer, but could the shot have echoed between the buildings?

The one 911 caller who was on the phone when the shot occurred was asked by the 911 dispatcher how many shots fired; she said one. (Scurrying around modding but will bring link here ASAP)

That's what I was thinking, ynot.

The confidence rate is understandable.
BEM: I didn't see anything about AA fear of calling LE in an emergency - I could have missed it?

I assume if they don't have confidence of LE, they would be afraid under most circumstances.

It did address one kind of fear: Percent of African-American people who report sometimes being afraid of being stopped and arrested when they are completely innocent, 2000: 36%

Florida medical chief casts doubt on Zimmerman's 'broken nose' claim
This is toward the end of the article -
~Of the claim that 28-year-old Zimmerman's head was bashed against a concrete surface as he and Martin, 17, scuffled, Friedman said, "If somebody had been beating his head against concrete I'd think we'd see more obvious scrapes."~ There is more at the link.

I am just going to post these links as I am so far behind in these posts and I apologize if they havee been posted before.

"Oliver, a former local news anchor and reporter, has known Zimmerman for almost a decade and says he's not a racist. Zimmerman's been in hiding since the shooting and Oliver was only able to speak with him briefly on the phone over the weekend."

"Oliver says Zimmerman has been told by Sanford Police not to talk publicly about what happened"

False. The quotes in my post are from George Zimmerman's 911 call, they are not mine.

In my post. The quotes in my post were from your original post.

Methinks he didn't know the real George all that well...

I haven't seen this posted before. Thanks. I haven't seen anything which would indicate GZ is racist. IMO, this term is misused almost as much as "stalker".

Does it make any sense to any for either one of them to engage in a fight of any kind?
George would be in deep ^^^ if the police arrived and found him holding the boy at gun point. He knew they were coming.
Trayvon had enough going on in his life with the school suspensions not to want any more problems.

How did this happen?

The million dollar question. Here's my take on it and I could be wrong but how I see it now. I do believe when GZ got out of his truck to follow Trayvon it escalated the situation and at the point trayvon went right around the back of the building GZ being either assertive or aggressive also made it to the rear of the building. <stop>

At this point I'm unable to determine what law was broken by both men being at the same corner of the building at the same time. I think both had a legal right to be there. Now they could have argued, faced off and even had a fight had GZ not been armed Trayvon would be alive. Some type of encounter happened and I think GZ over-reacted by discharging his weapon. We also have a neighbor who I think says he was a few feet away before he went upstairs, I'm curious what his statement says happened. I can't figure out those last few moments. JMO and all that.
