For WS purposes, any of those are fine to use. I usually say Trayon or abbreviate with TM, however all of these are respectful, so it is all good.

I might have gotten a little sensitive to the "Tray" nickname last night, when someone was using this very nickname, and their theory was Trayvon was walking amongst us, not really dead. I apologize.

I don't think we know that she waited 3 weeks? I thought that they had tried to get into contact with SPD and their calls were ignored? Or something like that?

I am interested in the answer to this question. I'll admit, I have a very hard time understanding why she would wait so long if she heard what she says she heard. If she doesn't have a good explanation for that, and that she DID try to contact the police would be a great one, I think it will impact her credibility. I know my dd would not have been able to keep her mouth shut about it for a nanosecond. And that's just her but, imo, pretty typical teenaged girl behavior in a digital world.

YES In the family. As a child I had uncles who were officers.
I currently have cousins who are diplomats.
Not a question of angels there are things they just would not do.
Would they get in a fight Yes, would they instigate one Yes, and plenty.
but with regard to things like would they carry and start a fight NO!

So just because someone carries a gun and their family is a member of LE, they are less likely to start an altercation?

Same situation I was in! You and I were in the same situation Trayvon was in. We have actually had some weirdo follow us.

People who assume that Trayvon should have run or been nice to GZ have clearly not felt this kind of threat before. These people look like dead-eyed zombie animals approaching you...

They call it fight or flight. Some people buckle, freeze up. Others, like the heroes on Flight 93 over Pennsylvania, decide they're not going down without trying to fight first.

When being followed in the night, you and I weren't the ones who started the problem. Neither was Trayvon.

Thank you for the link. I saw the discussion about this but this is the first time I've seen the video myself.

I see two things: one, he sometimes blinks as if his eyes are bothering him. I wear contacts and I blink this way myself if my eyes feel dry or otherwise irritated.

The other thing I see is what I think posters are referring to as the eye-rolling, where he at first looks to be looking left and then his eyes quickly switch with an upward then downward motion to looking right.

I would have to agree with the posters who have stated the opinion that the latter is an involuntary tic or something of the sort.

It doesn't seem significant to me. JMO and all.

I am not sleuthing his family members, but is GZ's mother deceased? Is that why they were raised by Grandma?

What the heck was going on with the local police and this prosecutor who rushed in to kill the investigation? Justice will not really be complete until we know these answers as well.

I thing he has not been able to speak to Trayvon’s parents once
They were re-looking at this case. He knew if it goes to court
He has to be quite. Now he won’t be able to do so till after the case is over.
That is how it works. He did not make up the rules.
I do wish the Zimmerman family had extended their condolences to the Martins,
And said something rather than nothing at all.
I imagine (I would not know) that they did not know how to do that while all
the HEAVYS came marching out and have changed a case into a racial march.
So in some way I can see how that happened as it did.

Who says "that's how it works"? He was released by police. It was over until the parents changed things. At any time following that release he could have picked up the phone. Even if it had been self-defence, only a callous human being or a coward would stay silent and not reach out to the parents to apologise and to grieve at the loss of life. If you are a decent human being.

45 days. He is not a victim, has never been a victim, and he has absolute responsibility for Trayvon's death. Every other excuse for him is just so much self-absorbed, insipid noise IMO.

Agree and I hope Angela Corey doesn't think she swept it under the rug with her comments that the investigation had been ongoing from the night of the killing. I don't think so! Not so sure I'm happy with her, my trust has been affected.

Ack! I realized I left out a very important part here!

This is how it will play out -

Mark O'Mara will at some point claim immunity. (claiming that GZ is immune from prosecution per the SYG law). Then the judge will order an evidentiary hearing. Kind of a mini-bench trial. No jury, just a bench trial where the judge will hear testimony and rebuttal by the prosecutors. The burden is much lower than "beyond a reasonable doubt". The judge's burden will be considered by a "preponderance of the evidence". The judge will weigh the evidence presented and decide if GZ is immune from further prosecution.

IF she finds that he meets the burden, the case will be thrown out. It will NEVER go before a jury.

IF she finds that he does not meet the burden, then GZ will be prosecuted and there will be a jury trial. He can still claim self-defense and present his claim before a jury of his is actually very good news for GZ. He gets 2 bites of the apple, so to speak. Even if the judge rules against him at the evidentiary hearing, he may still sway the jury and convince them he was acting in self-defense.

It's funny how people can view things so differently!

It's because of his interest in LE and his seemingly wanna be cop attitude that leads me to think the way I do about how the confrontation started. He didn't want another one to get away. I don't think he would view what I believe he did as aggressive, he would view it only as stopping another kid/guy/punk from getting away again.

That's what I remember too, but since no links, jmo, imo and all that jazz. I remember it being reported that she called SPD either that night or the next day and her call was not returned.

When you live with parents who are lawyers you hear legal talk, when you live with parents who have a restaurant you hear food talk...
I think that Zimmerman living with parents in the court system would know for sure that guns in a fight can get messy.
I believe that no way would he carry and induce an altercation.

Both parents worked and I imagine grandma was in the home to care for them when they got home from school. jmo

There have been many cases of rebellion/ not caring that parents work with/in LE where the kids turn out bad, sometimes drugs are involved.
Prime example is Joran Van Der Sloot- serial murderer. His father was a judge in training- who used his influence to get him off in Natalee Holloway's murder.
Oh, and also let's not forget that George Anthony is ex-LE! Look how well his progeny turned out!!!

Or one that will hit closer to "home" with many of us that have followed the Haleigh Cummings case, the son of Jeff Hardy, Sheriff of Putnam County, FL.
