The state has to agree to allow GZ to leave the state. Then they will have to set up a dedicated line for the monitoring device. Probation to be involved. Today is Friday I bet you don't see him released for a few business days. And there is still that bond that will have to be raised. I think he would have to come up with 15,000 to get a surety for the rest.

I think it will get complicated with a surety with the request that he be out of state though.

and yet again why does O'Mara need to run out and jump right in front of the cameras?

Because this case is being tried in the media.

Trayvons parents lawyer Crump on HLN now, parents are appalled at GZ's "apology"

  • #604
It's when and where he did it! I would be interested in how many charged criminals have taken to the stand to apologize to the victim's family...then made excuse after excuse for killing their child. Pitiful.

I will take bets his "apology" is not on one LE tape on in any statement. CYA = GZ.

Usually you first hear an apology during a sentencing hearing or strapped to the gurney.

I'm not really sure where else he could of done this, issuing a press release is impersonal.

This occurred in a court of law. GZ is the defendant. GZ has the right to be heard, or have his lawyer speak for him. Anyone who doesn't want to hear from GZ should consider avoiding the courtroom. Justice is when both sides are heard, not just one and not just what one side wants to hear. Just think of the horrors Dr. Petit had to sit through! That's our system, like it or not.

Trayvon's parents have the right to be in that courtroom more than anyone else. When the defense attorney claims the defendant wants to make a statement to the court, there was no reason to believe that he was going to instead force them to listen to his "apology." They had no way to escape a busy courtroom by the time they realized what was happening. Ambush, pure and simple, IMO.

I cannot slip inside his mind to answer this. Also, I think this is beyond splitting hairs so let's move on.

I really don't understand as to why you need to slip inside his mind, considering he wasn't asking that Zimmerman didn't contact defense witnesses since judge already granted that.

That wasn't an apology...sorry for the loss of your son? I didn't know he didn't have a weapon????? I didn't know he was so young..yet he called him a KID in that call... all self serving....:jail:

That apology was so full of it. A public relations stunt if I ever heard one.

GZ's body language during the entire hearing was a performance. A stiff, sallow-looking "Woe is me, I'm an angel trying to do a good deed" affect is transparent.

He's had months to apologize. Even a website where he could have. It's just not in GZ's heart. That's why he didn't try to "save" Trayvon. He isn't sorry and still feels he was justified to shoot TM. It's all TM's fault. He shouldn't have been black and wore a hood in the dark. That's a crime?!

Just another attempt to make excuses for GZ.

his self serving apology has nothing to do with the Petits.

And as far as the Petit's, were there these same types of excuses for the murderers of his family? I don't recall everything said in the threads here about that case, but I highly doubt that it was ever said that nothing was forced on Mr Petit, if he didn't want to hear it he could he just left? As if to say, too bad for Mr Petit?

It's an apples/oranges comparison.

It was an ambush for them to hear him say he was sorry they lost their son?

They said they wanted a public apology.
Links in this thread.

It was no ambush. It was what they said they wanted.
It was a public apology, not a private one.

Good for him for apologizing. Of course that is somehow seen as a bad thing now...

They have made it very clear the last few days that they did not want to hear an apology at this point. And then he lied in the apology??? They have suffered enough, they didn't need to sit through that charade today. IMO.

What do you think is the end result of it though? Do you think it really matters to the parents? They probably don't believe a word out of his mouth. Besides, that's not what TM's mother said last week:

About the picture: I'm not an expert on head wounds by far but I've seen quite a few...and they either didn't bleed or bled profusely .....I have never seen blood on any wound for that matter just stop flowing, how is that even possible? especially in the rain, the rain would mix with the blood....
The "apology" was absolutely horrible IMO the least he could have done is fake empathy since he's unable to show actual emotion.....to say "he thought Trayvon was just a little younger than him" IMO was a HUGE mistake....doesn't that show pre-meditation????what is he saying,he had time to think whether or not the person was old enough to be shot????what,it would have been ok if Trayvon would have been a little older?

BBM

Who thinks like that?

This is how he apologizes to the family of the kid he killed? GRRRRRRRRR

my rant is not at you :) Just frustrated here. Too many trying to justify GZ's lack of common sense.

This hearing is tiny considering what they will have to sit through at trial.

I liked the part about Zimmerman saying Martin ran around his truck 3 times. LOL IMO

Best proof yet that no matter what GZ does, he will be maligned and hated. It's a no-win for him so why bother even trying or listening to what the Martins want?

To express the horror that the parents felt?? MOO.
