How can a prosecutor request that the defense not contact the witnesses in this case? Don't they have a right to discovery? That would include interviewing witnesses, wouldn't it? The pros basically just took one to the chin in this hearing.

He didn't say the defense, he said GZ.

That makes perfect sense.

You have that wrong. He said he did not want Zimmerman contacting the witnesses.

Zimmerman's family at hearing: He isn't violent
By MIKE SCHNEIDER and CURT ANDERSON, AP

SANFORD, Fla. — The family of a neighborhood watch volunteer charged with killing Trayvon Martin asked a Florida judge Friday to let him out of jail while he awaits trial, and legal experts said he stands a good chance of being granted bail.

George Zimmerman's parents and wife testified by phone in the hearing at the Seminole County Criminal Justice Center, saying he is not a flight risk nor a threat to the community. Zimmerman's family members were testifying by phone because they say they have been threatened.

Zimmerman was at the hearing wearing a suit but in shackles. Martin's parents are also present...

Agree. It also indicates that Mr. Zimmerman is still a loose cannon. I can't believe his hopping up on the stand was MOM's idea, or endorsed by him.

The other thing it shows to me is that Zimmerman doesn't listen to advice, or have good judgement. I kinda like that he's so eager to show us all that.

Yup. and there are those of the opinion that he will *lay low*.

Since most on this board who are against Z wanted him to publicly apologize and show "remorse" - why be upset when he does it? I think he came off very humbly, and sincerely.

JMO/IMO

It was very inappropriate for Zimmerman to ambush the parents in a court of law.

Only thing that bothers me is the out of state part....just does not sit well with me. Yes he has to check in and be monitored....but I don't know. It just bugs me. No I don't think he is a flight risk but I can't seem to put my finger on why the out of state part bugs me.

I saw Trayvon's family lawyer on CNN a couple of days back explaining why they declined to meet with GZ. So this was a good way to force the media...err the FAMILY to hear his apology.

I heard him ask judge that defense attorney wouldn't be allowed to meet with witnesses.

That is what O'Mara has stated in many of his interviews.

He brought it up to his wife in her testimony today about whether or not she thought he should be declared indigent. AFAIK, only a judge can declare him to be indigent and that hasn't happened yet.

No evidence in investigation that says he did or did not turn to go back to car.

GZ stated he walked back to the car. No evidence at all in the investiagtion that conflicts with that.
No evidence conflicts with the contention that TM assaulted first. No evidence as to who threw the first blow.

And the SA has evidence to support a 2nd degree murder charge?? I didn't believe it when GZ was charged and most definitely don't believe it now. ~IMO~

The judge allowed the prosecutor to ask the question, and get an answer, and when asked if he remembered an email to Martin's father, he said no he didn't recall it. At that point, the Pros basically sat back down, without pursuing it although I don't think there were any objections to that questioning.

Of course they did, they now have GZ on court record stating he "doesn't remember" something he sent on his phone that they have a concrete record of him doing. That is EXACTLY what they wanted, why question him more before the jury is in place to hear it? This is going to be a VERY interesting trial!

I think that's the first time I've heard of an apology as an ambush.

I would not expect any different outcome from a Florida courtroom.
BTW, his apology was coached and made only for media consumption. MOO

That was already granted by the judge before he asked the defense attorney not be able to contact witnesses.

That wasn't an apology...sorry for the loss of your son? I didn't know he didn't have a weapon????? I didn't know he was so young..yet he called him a KID in that call....

all self serving....:jail:

GZ tells LE that night on the phone that TM is in his late teens and now tells the parents he thought TM was closer to his age???? jmo

Because the Martin's were forced to sit there and listen, whether they wanted to or not. That was a stupid move. OMO! MOO!

This seems to have to do with Microsoft documents.

Would this work on iPhone photos?
I'm not sure.

It was just an example. And yes it can. I will be happy to have him write out how it can be done. He is in school right now so it will have to wait. ANYthing can be altered. JMO of course.

Doesn't remember and flat out saying 'no I didn't do that' are two different things.
