Did you mean to say "found on his back?" It has been established that TM was indeed shot in the chest, and we learned today that it was at close range.

The word "prostrate" (meaning lying face down) was used by the reporter writing a story, IMO mis-used for dramatic effect, and not necessarily by the witness who saw the gunpowder residue. The police report states that TM was found face-down. It states he was turned over onto his back once the responders arrived at the scene, which is IMO the point when a witness could have observed the chest wound.

P.S. FYI, the phrase "Begs the question" describes an error in logic, when an assertion is held as proven, but the only proof given assumes the assertion to be true. A closed loop, IOW. But the term is often misused. http://begthequestion.info/ HTH.

And with his arms under his body. (could have been clutching his chest!)

That's entirely possible and it's why the only times I am considering valid are the police department's dispatch logs. Even so, if we accept the timing of the 911 call that had the gunshot on it and the times of arrival of the officers as shown on the dispatcher log, there were only seconds between the gunshot and the arrival of Officer Smith.

The reported beginning of the call with the gunshot was at 7:16:11. The gunshot was 44 seconds into that call or at 7:16:55. According to the dispatcher log of GZ's call to SPD, Officer Smith arrived on scene at 7:17:11, though that may be when he drove up to the address and he still needed to go around the building to the location of the body. At most, that should have taken a minute and most likely less.

So how was there someone allowed on scene at three minutes after the shot to take this picture and interact with the suspect who was supposed to be in custody?

IMO, JMO, etc.

That person was interfering with an investigation...contaminating a crime scene...IMO

It was not forced on them.
They were not forced to listen to it.

And they have said they wanted a public apology. Nothing more public than a hearing with live feed nation wide.
***IMO***

The "apology" at his own bond hearing was self-serving and in poor taste

Oh I feel the Martin family was definitely ambushed. But I agree that they don't have to accept it and they didn't.

IF Trayvon was my son, I would have either stood up and turned my back on GZ or walked out of that courtroom..JMHO

You don't think Trayvon had a right to defend himself against a guy who has a gun? A guy that had been following him? A guy who never identified himself? Trayvon was supposed to know this wasn't a Jeffrey Dahmer wannabe??

I'm actually sad that the injuries appear so minor. Doesn't look like Trayvon had a fighting chance against George's strength or his gun.

We also don't know what injuries Trayvon had.

MOO

If it turns out TM has no injuries outside of the bullet wound and it gets proven that GZ did in fact have injuries (even as much as his father said), I wonder how a jury would take that.

We just don't really know what happened and we never will. No one can say for sure what was going on those last minutes. JMO

I just dont believe that GZ set out to kill someone, but when it comes down to it, if I think my life is in danger I'd rather go to jail than be dead. JMO

Indeed..that would be a huge problem at most crime scenes..however appears not such an issue with Sandford Police :banghead:

Unless something changes, GZ will have an immunity hearing. It is possible he will be granted immunity. This is just reality. IMO

and if that happens I GUARANTEE you we will see alot more "murders" under the guise of this Godforsaken SYG law :moo:

This case is so messy!! I totally blame the SPD on this! They just need to wipe out the entire department and start over. Too much "good old boy" crap going on.

I really, really want to see what that EMAIL said though!! The one George doesn't remember? I guess it was about Tracy?? Oooo Lawd, and to think he had the audacity to want to meet them face to face and apologize if he wrote something nasty about this family!

I love people who can't help but be stupid when they are being investigated for a crime. His website doesn't help either. He has no remorse for what he did!

MOO

The fact they were not forced is simple.
They were not forced.

Just IMO, but I feel Trayvon's parents were ambushed as another poster has stated. This was just plain wrong of GZ and MO'M in my opinion!

It's probably better that he's out of jail. (I know he's not out just yet)

Only a matter of time before he does/says/writes something else that's incredibly stupid. IMO

Do you honestly think that anyone that routinely carries a gun (not a part of their job) is constantly worried about being victimized? It can't simply be a "better to have it and not need it than need it and not have it" mentality? I don't think anyone with a bulge in their coats is out to get me; I'm not looking for the next person that's going to try to victimize me. Most people aren't even aware that I carry because it's just second nature. It's not this compulsory decision out of sheer irrational fear. It's just the decision that if I am ever in a situation where I may need it, I'd rather have it. And that's incredibly realistic, as opposed to "Nothing will ever happen to me". I don't know why that concept is so hard to grasp.

Those are your feelings so it works for you to carry a gun.......my feelings are that I don't need to. I don't ever want to have to make a choice of pulling that trigger...and that's a decision you already made, when you strap your gun on. Or at least I hope you have made it otherwise they may use your gun on you.

eta....and we are way off topic. Sorry guys! I have to get ready for work anyway.

Just in case anyone was curious, here's an example of a flashlight likely similar to what Zimmerman was carrying (it's a 6-inch "tactical" flashlight). Scary stuff.

and yet again why does O'Mara need to run out and jump right in front of the cameras?

~jmo~

IDK, but I really do not care for this man. At one point during the hearing MO'M was talking so fast I had a heard time even understanding him.

MO'M loves the media, IMO!

Well I hope those are exactly the options Zimmerman is presented with...since he's not dead...He should go to jail for a while...IMO

Who said anything about fear? Perhaps realistically knowing that you could become a victim is what compels this to occur. Some of us just don't like to live in a little bubble and eat the grass with the rest of the sheep. That's all. No more, no less.

I am the daughter of a former US Navy SEAL and current federally licensed gun dealer, he has a ccp and uses it. I am not woefully ignorant of my likelihood of being victimized. I learned to shoot at four years old, grew up handling guns, and own firearms now.

My choice to make my weekly pilgrimage to Target sans my hollowpoint loaded sidearm, and to also risk suffering a blackout in the dairy aisle without my Surefire does not in any way make me a grass munching livestock animal. That you carry your big ole flashlight for "s&gs" seems very strange to me. A flashlight is a tool, not really a toy. If you hang it from your belt for the fun of it is it just to project a certain image? It sounds like posturing to me? Moo

There are people who want to carry a gun for, imo, all of the most very wrong reasons. The very people who represent a danger to others when they do so. George Zimmerman is an excellent example of that person. Moo

Are you allowed to walk into a Target with your gun?? I would think it would be okay?? But I know the club I worked at --- you were not allowed to bring guns into the building. The only people who were allowed to have guns were people who worked there.

FL Statute 790.06(12)No license issued pursuant to this section shall authorize any person to carry a concealed weapon or firearm into any place of nuisance as defined in s. 823.05; any police, sheriff, or highway patrol station; any detention facility, prison, or jail; any courthouse; any courtroom, except that nothing in this section would preclude a judge from carrying a concealed weapon or determining who will carry a concealed weapon in his or her courtroom; any polling place; any meeting of the governing body of a county, public school district, municipality, or special district; any meeting of the Legislature or a committee thereof; any school, college, or professional athletic event not related to firearms; any school administration building; any portion of an establishment licensed to dispense alcoholic beverages for consumption on the premises, which portion of the establishment is primarily devoted to such purpose; any elementary or secondary school facility; any career center; any college or university facility unless the licensee is a registered student, employee, or faculty member of such college or university and the weapon is a stun gun or nonlethal electric weapon or device designed solely for defensive purposes and the weapon does not fire a dart or projectile; inside the passenger terminal and sterile area of any airport, provided that no person shall be prohibited from carrying any legal firearm into the terminal, which firearm is encased for shipment for purposes of checking such firearm as baggage to be lawfully transported on any aircraft; or any place where the carrying of firearms is prohibited by federal law.

You're correct. This is my opinion, just as you have yours. I fully support your right to not have anything to do with guns or flashlights. I'm not the one that started out mocking others for their decisions, though. You're free to exercise or not exercise whatever rights you wish. Calling someone not normal for exercising theirs is a little much, in my opinion.
