"Zimmerman, the third of four children, grew up in Manassas, Va. where he lived in the 1980s and 1990s with his white father, Latina mother, siblings and a grandmother. The family was “very Catholic ... very religious,” neighbor Jim Rudzenski told the Washington Post. The children attended All Saints Catholic School through eighth grade before going to Osbourn High School. George was an altar boy and evening receptionist at the church."

Wow, GZ is one of four children, I wonder why we have only heard from RZ jr. ? From what we've heard George and Robert jr. were estranged for some time, I wonder if he's been estranged from the other 3 also ?

BBM

Why didn't he then? He had plenty of time to do so?

The state attorneys would not have brought these charges if there was THAT much doubt in what occurred. Trayvon was walking home, or trying to. At some point he ran, because he was being followed and his gf told him to run. Why? Because Trayvon had just told her that some guy was following him and he looked like he wanted to do something to him. Probably non verbal communication that we do. Glaring, anger? Something tipped Trayvon off to GZ's intentions. So she said RUN! So he did but then slowed down and he said I am going to walk fast. Why? Well, someone running might look suspicious, and he wasn't doing anything wrong. Also, he was a young male who didn't want to look like a scared kid, maybe. Either way, he was on a straight path home and would have arrived there safely if not for the angry, gun toting killer GZ. jmo

I think it means they want him to stay on.

Maybe a resignation would allow him pension/benefits, whereas being fired would not? I'm not saying you're wrong, just jumping off your post! :)

yup they did. and that room busted out in applause when they voted not to accept his resignation

So why did he even give his resignation?

Very strange.

All for show, IMVHO. All for show.

Oh boy. I wonder if they are going to make an example of him. This could get ugly. Not that I have much sympathy, but I would have been fine if he quietly went away, as long as he's gone.

I am outraged to know this is how SPD informed Tracy Martin of his son's death..How cruel and insensitive on their part..JMHO

I can't think of any good way to tell parents that their son is dead. Gotta be the hardest part of being a PO.

Wow...HLN showing social media statements of people threatening or insinuating that they will kill GZ. Wow, just wow.

Why is this on the news, and why are people so stupid?! Geez...

That's exactly why he needed the secret location.

He has every right to be out on bail.

People are just ridiculous!

Sorry if this was already posted but, seriously????

http://abcnews.go.com/US/george-zimmerman-leaves-jail-back-hiding/story?id=16192324#.T5XDNJOqmh1

He said that Zimmerman will require "somebody who can help protect him" and said he will ask the state to pay for the protection.

O'Mara said Zimmerman's family is "hoping to get some assistance from the outside because it's going to be a very expensive proposition" to handle living expenses as well as the cost of security and legal fees.

Um... he had his protection paid by the state in jail... Took care of living expenses too...

I love entitlement.

Didn't O'Mara say he is indigent? Doesn't he get his legal expenses paid by the state if he's indigent?

As far as I know, there would no mental health exception for GZ.
As far as I know he's as sane as anyone else.

IMHO..IF thats the case the world is in a hellova mess...Perhaps we all need to be institutionalized..For certain IF he is as sane as anyone else, the people you are comparing him to certainly do not need an easy access to any guns...JMHO

Legal expenses, yes...but protection too? Entitlement indeed.:maddening:

Maybe they understand how GZ has been perceived in the media (at least in the beginning via that 2005 photo) and don't want to encourage anything that might be perceived as a positive image for GZ.

Or gee, maybe it is exactly what the state stated in their response to the defense motion:

http://www.flcourts18.org/PDF/Press_Releases/state_response_to_def_m_appear_in_civ_clothing.pdf

"Legitimate reasons exist for all detained inmates (not just Defendant in this case) to wear shackles and distinct uniforms when outside of the physical jail. Escape is made much more difficult, both by the shackles and the fact that jail uniforms are easily distinguishable from civilian attire should a defendant escape immediate supervision."

I wish I had saved those burglary reports before they disappeared from the Sanford site! I seem to remember that one of the burglaries was that a door had been stolen from a garage where it had been stored. Not to say that I wouldn't be upset that someone had been in my garage and taken something but it's not the sort of thing that would have been talked about all over the neighborhood.

I don't know. Just knowing that someone had been skulking around in my garage would be very scary. And that is just two short steps away from my house and my family. That is just minutes away from being home invasion if someone had happened to walk into the garage while the burglar was inside.

I think it might have been the topic of conversation, to remind people to keep their garage doors closed and locked.

Just reported on HLN that the Sanford City Council is NOT going to accept the Chief's resignation. No reason given yet. No link as am watching it on TV, so imo

''

I'm thinking it didn't present too much of a problem to them.. If it had they would not have handled it as they did...JMHO

One thing that I have noticed and top of mind is how often it is said by DT and others (Tafee) that he "wasn't on duty" when this happened. WTF! You aren't *on duty* for NW - it's a continual thing! Me thinks they *think* have a loophole somewhere?

I *think* the point of this is that they all initially said GZ was on NW "patrole" when this occurred. Later, there was lots of talk about how NW does not allow you to carry any weapon. So, then the story changed to him just being out to "run an errand" because it was legal for him to carry concealed weapon then, even if against NW policy (which stresses criminal/civil liability if over-reached). Don't know that it's much of a legal loophole, as just a clarification to make it sound like he wasn't so out of line. Don't know, though. Maybe there are criminal implications to the distinction ... ??

I would imagine they could easily track who those accounts belong to, and I hope they do, I hope someone in LE is on it right now.

I don't even want to say what I'm thinking about some of them though.
