BBM. General studies? What happened to Law Enforcement?? Pre Law (he wants to be a judge, if not a cop)??? Hmmm... Would love to hear from some of his friends at school. Oh, but GZ doesn't seem to have any (real) friends (IMO).

I don't really care, but it does seem a little odd he was working towards an AA in General Studies as opposed to an AS in Criminal Justice, doesn't it?

Academic programs available at the Sanford/Lake Mary Campus include:

Associate in Arts Degrees

Seminole State offers prerequisite courses for more than 75 university majors to help students seamlessly transition into a related bachelor's degree program at a four-year college or university. These university majors include:

Business
Education
Engineering
General Studies
Humanities
Music
Psychology
Theatre

Associate in Science Degrees

With an Associate in Science (A.S.) degree, students can immediately enter the work force or transfer into a baccalaureate program at a four-year college or university. Seminole State offers dozens of A.S. degree options, in fields such as:

Accounting
Automotive Service Technology
Criminal Justice
Early Childhood Education
Fire Science
Information Systems Technology
Legal Assistant/Paralegal
Office Management Technology
Nursing, Respiratory Therapy and Physical Therapist Assistant

So why did he even give his resignation?

Very strange.

JMHO

from waht i gathered they called him a scapegoat saying all he was really "guilty" of was a bad press conference.

Just reported on HLN that the Sanford City Council is NOT going to accept the Chief's resignation. No reason given yet. No link as am watching it on TV, so imo

Imagine that..Why am I not surprised.. Since when does any chief of police have to have approval to resign office? MORE SMOKE AND MIRRORS..JMHO

That's exactly why he needed the secret location.

He has every right to be out on bail.

People are just ridiculous!

Bail is his RIGHT, but it is also his CHOICE, he would be perfectly safe in JAIL. If I lived in Florida, I would be very upset that I would have to fork over money to protect him because he made the choice to get out of jail where he is perfectly safe and be free on bail, and then expect the taxpayers to provide round the clock security for him.

It is a no win situation for the taxpayers. If he chooses to exercise the right to be out on bail then he should not be provided round the clock security,

Jail, SAFE

Bail, you are on your own except for a police response if you call them.

IMO JMHO and stuff.

I *think* the point of this is that they all initially said GZ was on NW "patrole" when this occurred. Later, there was lots of talk about how NW does not allow you to carry any weapon. So, then the story changed to him just being out to "run an errand" because it was legal for him to carry concealed weapon then, even if against NW policy (which stresses criminal/civil liability if over-reached). Don't know that it's much of a legal loophole, as just a clarification to make it sound like he wasn't so out of line. Don't know, though. Maybe there are criminal implications to the distinction ... ??

Great points, Verboten and excellent first post! :)

Oh lordy. Really? I hope it has only to do with severance terms & nothing else. He's clearly lost any credibility to lead the Dept. This is very strange ...

About Chief Bill Lee:

http://www.clickorlando.com/news/Sa...s-resignation/-/1637132/11643760/-/gm7yuvz/-/

Two of the commissioners that voted against the agreement, Commissioner Patty Mahany and Commissioner Randy Jones, spoke highly of Lee in a heated debate.

Mahany said she wouldn't accept the agreement because it was "hastily put together" and said she wasn't notified of the special meeting until 11:30 a.m. Monday. Mahany said she was devastated by the treatment of Lee, calling him one of "the finest police officers" in the community.

"This is a man who is a medal of valor winner," Mahany said. "I am physically sick over these proceedings and treatment of Chief Lee. What did the chief do wrong?"

Mahany said that both Lee and other commissioners are also enduring allegations of being racists.

"He’s paying for the sins of past police chiefs," Mahany said. "We are a great city with a great police department. We can't do this to a 52-year-old man with 30 years law enforcement experience with a family with little children. We can't do it."

A press conference from earlier in the case before he stepped aside?

That's where I'm :waitasec:, he had already stepped aside temporarily, that was accepted, so why would he up and resign today, then they reject his resignation?

I know you don't have the answers, lol.

''

I'm thinking it didn't present too much of a problem to them.. If it had they would not have handled it as they did...JMHO

What would be a better alternative? I contend there is no good way to tell parents that their son is dead. I guess they could ask them to go down to the police station, or they could bring them to the morgue. I guess I just don't understand what they could have done differently? There is just no good way.

If I lived in Florida, I'd be screaming at the top of my lungs.

I would raise HOLY.... (you know what) and demand the City Commission resign their positions.. Oust ALL of them who refuse to allow him to leave....JMHO

But could he sue the state if something happens to him while out on bail because they didn't protect him enough? I would hope not, but I could see something like that happening. And I would think the state would have a vested interest in getting him to trial alive. Still, he did choose to get out on bond, so protection should be up to him. I just don't know the legal stuff about all of this.

I maintain my stance on the subject...I have nothing else to say concerning the matter..

IMHO..IF thats the case the world is in a hellova mess...Perhaps we all need to be institutionalized..For certain IF he is as sane as anyone else, the people you are comparing him to certainly do not need an easy access to any guns...JMHO

Legally, until he has been diagnosed, he is sane.
Sane people have a right to own guns.

If he is found not guilty, he has the right to own guns.

We are protected by our constitution in that way.

I'm just trying to sleuth out where everyone was at different points that night. I've never said anything about who ambushed who.

I am sure that that will be made very clear by the prosecution at trial. mo

So she said RUN! So he did but then slowed down and he said I am going to walk fast. Why? Well, someone running might look suspicious, and he wasn't doing anything wrong.

Young black men are taught that running automatically implicates you in wrong doing. I know some personally who were stopped running for the bus, etc. So, you are correct & it makes perfect sense that Trayvon would choose to walk fast over running. My take is he walked fast first, then ran. Either way, I think that he was taking what he felt was the safest action to remove himself from the situation.

OFFS, what the hell does him having a family with small children have to do with whether or not he does his job correctly. There are a lot of men with families with small children who are jobless right now! Family doesn't have doodley squat to do with performance. :maddening:

Funny but I do believe his dad said he was in Criminal Justice at school.

His father also testified at the hearing that he was in year three. Don't they give out associates after 2 years?

Yes Associate degrees are 2 year degrees, see my previous post, Seminole State College says that GZ was WORKING towards his Associate in Arts degree in a general studies program.

Guess GZ's father "misspoke" when he testified under oath.

  • #420
I never said that either. GZ's asserts that TM came and ambushed him, which means obviously that TM would not have gone straight home if that was the truth. Why is it not fair to track TM's movements as well as GZ's? They were both part of the incident that night.

I personally don't believe GZ but I do believe the prosecution who said TM was on a straight path to his destination. I think it is GZ who veered off the path and confronted Trayvon which is also the word that is in the affidavit, confronted. mo
