In Florida, they only offer AA or AS degrees at Community Colleges.

At colleges that are still Community Colleges yes, but most have now (over the last 2 years) have changed to "State Colleges" and still offer vocational certificates, AA or AS degrees but all that changed to State Colleges now also offer limited Bachelor degrees. At Seminole State College the following Bachelor degrees are offered:

Bachelor of Science:

Architectural Engineering Technology
Business Information Management
Construction
Information Systems Technology

Bachelor of Applied Science:

Interior Design

Got me thinking so I went back and looked for the first news stories. Found this one of the late night newscast. Time on the video segment is 10:30pm and the reporter states she is live at the scene. As she talks you can see the police tape still up and officers still searching around the ground with flashlights. The video report then goes on to show video clips from earlier in the night.

I don't go to Fox very often but I do notice they have a very large library of video from this case that is all put in order.

So if there were so many cops there I wonder why they didn't go down and knock on Martin's door?

Martin was not on the lease.

How were they supposed to know where he lived? They apparently didn't know who he was at the time.

Martin was not on the lease.

They had to have known the deceased belonged to someone, somewhere...would it not make sense to check the immediate area?

It was my understanding the the GF was not talking to the SPD or cooperating with them. Pam Bondi ,the Florida AG was on the Piers Morgan show on 3/27/12. This is what I found:

http://transcripts.cnn.com/TRANSCRIPTS/1203/27/pmt.01.html

MORGAN: Yes, I mean, look, I am encouraged by what you're saying. It's good that a senior lawmaker in Florida is saying all this, but in the end, you know, I remain like many people absolutely bemused that somebody can shoot somebody in cold blood, an unarmed young teenager.

And so, I mean, I just think with your legal training and your legal background on what appears to be a very empathetic attitude towards this case, it might be quite powerful for the attorney general of Florida to say publicly, you know what? This guy should be arrested. He should be interviewed under caution and he should, if necessary, face charges. But he should be at stage one of the legal process of being under arrest.

BONDI: Well, what we've done is appoint a special prosecutor. And that's what she's doing. Conducting a thorough investigation because we need to get Trayvon's girlfriend to cooperate which I don't know if was happening previously. And they may have had good reason for that. But she's cooperating now. And again, a thorough investigation is being done to ensure that justice is sought for that family.

Maybe permission had to be obtained from her parents before she was interviewed? I can't imagine that she wouldn't cooperate. That doesn't sound right. But she is a minor, so maybe they were waiting to get permission from the parents before speaking to her. Plus, it sounds like Bondi is not in the inside of this investigation. How would she know who is cooperating and who is not?

By canvassing the area...going door to door...it's not unheard of...IMO

Why wouldn't they canvas that block? They had no idea where he lived. Why wouldn't they suspect he lived in one of those apartments on that block?

It keeps showing up as a fact that TM was running. But I only recall GZ claiming he was running. Is there any link that verifies that TM was running at all prior to their encounter??? I do not believe I have seen anything other than the gf claiming she to tell TM to run and he said he was walking fast. jmo

Sounds like to me that they assumed he did not live there, IMO.

Does the state have to pay for protection? I sincerely hope NOT! I think the only time the state has to worry about that is if in he was in jail, which he's not. I know the state isn't paying to protect Casey Anthony!

--exactly, this is getting ridiculous!

--in kc's case, LE was responsible for her safety/protection until she off of LE property----then she was on her own.

--george voluntarily left the protection of the jail----and now the state is expected to pay for this?????

O'Mara said that Zimmerman will require "somebody who can help protect him" and said he will ask the state to pay for the protection.

O'Mara said Zimmerman's family is "hoping to get some assistance from the outside because it's going to be a very expensive proposition" to handle living expenses as well as the cost of security and legal fees.

First of all, just because defense is asking doesn't mean state is going to do it.

Gee, O'Mara, maybe you should have thought of that BEFORE fighting to get hin out on bond? He really should have stayed in jail until trial. I will be sick if the state has to pay to protect him.

Must be very different where ever you are, and must not be in the United States either. A certified teacher in the United States must at the very least have a bachelor's degree.

I am in the United States and I will gladly pull the info for you.

How do you know they didn't? The brother may have been home, but may not have answered the door for whatever reason (My younger brother has been instructed to not answer the door for anyone - if they need to get in, they have a key). Or may have not heard the knocks.

  • #457
I think that's a very unfair thing to say.
I'm sure it was hard on them. They are human.

We don't know why they did what they did.

We'll just have to hopefully respectfully agree to disagree..

They may be human but their definitely lacking when it comes to being respectful of a deceased soul and compassion for the family...JMHO

OFFS, what the hell does him having a family with small children have to do with whether or not he does his job correctly. There are a lot of men with families with small children who are jobless right now! Family doesn't have doodley squat to do with performance. :maddening:

I think what she was trying to say is that if you're gonna railroad a man for political reasons, it's particularly unacceptable to railroad someone who has a respected 30-year career and a family with little children. jmo

I never claimed anyone ambushed anyone. I never said TM ambushed GZ.

My personal belief, based on the evidence, is that TM was getting angry that GZ was watching him, and decided to confront GZ after nearly reaching his home. I further believe that the reported lack of injury to TM indicates that TM may have been the agressor in the physical confrontation. IMO

Whereas I firmly believe that the lack of injury to TM indicates that he was NOT the aggressor and that he never punched Zimmerman, since I know that it is not only highly unlikely but darn near impossible to actually punch someone hard enough to break the cartilege in their nose without doing damage to your own hands. If you repeatedly punch someone the damage is going to magnify exponentially, not to mention scraping your hands against the sidewalk ect. And this would be making the assumption that GZ did not even get in one good hit, not a single scratch or punch or bite, ( since he claims that TM had his hands over his mouth) I truly don't believe that since my Grandma could at least get in one good hit or scratch and she's OLD. IMO JMHO and stuff.
