She may have been talking about pre-school teachers. I think there is a 2 yr degree available which allows someone to work in a preschool.

Also, I think you can become a teachers aide with an AA. At least in California anyway.

I'm just wondering why we're talking about teacher's certificates and what this has to do with this case? :waitasec:

It can't possibly be that he's 66 and thinks this might just be a good time to get out and spend time with his family.

Any person in his right mind would resign under the circumstances if that was a viable option for them. Why in the world would anyone deliberately subject themselves to being pilloried like this? It's disgusting, imo. I say, good for him. I just hope for the sake of the citizens in his jurisdiction that his replacement isn't a pandering jellyfish (not that Wolfinger is, imo). Not much hope of that under the circumstances, imo, though.

That's all it takes to avoid a murder prosecution. :waitasec:

Not avoid...if you're talking about a hung jury, those 3 will be replaced. 12 more. New trial.

Then why is he having to step down, and why are they finding a new chief if what he did was totally right? That makes no sense to me. He should have thought more before he spoke. When you have people depending on you and you are in a high, political, and public position, you have to watch what you say and do. He did not, IMO.

They've rejected his resignation.

He could still quit outright, I guess, but they aren't accepting that. The vote was 3-2 in favor of not allowing him to resign.

IIRC, this is not his first taste of controversy. Not the first time he's been "pilloried like this."

What did he say and do exactly that was so wrong?

And if they knocked on the door and got no answer?
In some jurisdictions, they leave a standardized notice or at the very least a business card on the door.

Is that her actual name? I thought that's the pseudonym Crump gave her. Is that not allowed, either? Just asking out of curiosity.

she.who.must.not.be.named.

I take that to mean AT ALL.

:moo::twocents:

Hopefully a mod clears it up though...

I am answering someone elses post concerning whether GZ was being honest about his educational situation.

So 3 people? That's quite underwhelming...IMO

That's all they had originally, with their no-confidence vote.

The no-confidence vote of the council was 3-2. Quite underwhelming, I guess I agree. Considering that after thinking about it, the balance has shifted back.

Nevermind

The ONLY victim imo is Trayvon. Everyone else made their own decisions, and now they at least have the opportunity to live with them.

Needless to say, I disagree. I don't know what will happen with Lee, since it seems unclear at this point, but I hope that both he and Wolfinger don't lose one minute's sleep over this entire debacle.

And how many second trials after a mistrial result in a successful conviction?

If you asked what he did right, the list would be shorter...IMO JMO MOO

Well, given he had 30 yrs of public service behind him, and now people are asking for his head, I was wondering what he did that was so wrong.

Bingo! Let's not forget his lack of remorse and his lies, and a family and friends willing to cover up for him and/or happily drinking the kool aid. Hmmmmm.

He's also very successful at presenting a soft-spoken, 'butter wouldn't melt in his mouth' demeanor and playing up his 'victimhood'. He looks and acts soooooo unassuming and nonthreatening. Until you see the relentless, imperious anger behind his eyes. And the gun in his pocket. And the hollow point bullets. IMO.

That's exactly what I see! {{shiver}}

IMO

Can't quote the case but I've read of 3 trials before a conviction.

This case is so troubling. We may never know for sure what really happened in the lead-up to the shooting. Trayvon's walking through the complex certainly wasn't against the law. Zimmerman's following TM wasn't against the law. Disregarding a dispatcher's statement that "We don't need you to [follow TM]" wasn't illegal, either.

Based only on the little we've learned so far, it doesn't appear either of the two committed a crime prior to the physical altercation. So at what point did one of them first commit a criminal act and who committed it? Did Zimmerman chase Trayvon down and start a physical fight with him? Did Trayvon get angry that Zimmerman was following him around and confront him, possibly socking him in the nose and starting the actual physical altercation?

I am heartbroken for Trayvon and his family, but I have to reserve judgment for now about whether Zimmerman is guilty of second degree murder.

There's no doubt this wouldn't have happened if GZ had not been carrying and if he'd just gone to his car and waited for police, but neither of those acts was illegal. The state is going to have to meet the burden of proof for M2. Can they definitively show that GZ instigated the physical contact and acted with implied malice/depraved indifference or disregard to human life? It's quite a hurdle, IMO.

We may not know much more til trial. Despite the Sunshine Law, I'm afraid there might be successful motions for some of the discovery in this case to be heavily redacted or sealed. I really don't see how anyone can be certain enough right now to make a judgment one way or the other (I'm talking strictly the legal points for M2, not the moral issues - they don't always mesh).

This whole case is a mess. Period.
