MOM acts like he could not walk over and talk to the parents or Crump sitting there in court and ask them if it was alright.

He cannot. They are represented by counsel. Which is why he would have contacted Crump.

Having worked in a law office, I disagree. Lawyers do tend to take that seriously. There is usually a level of respect shown towards each other, regardless of being on opposing sides.

It is my understanding that a defendant is NOT to talk to or try to contact the victim/s or witnesses. It was very inappropriate for his lawyer to ask him to do this, imo.

Crump and O'Mara are not "opposing counsel".

Correct. But in a manner of speaking, in my opinion, they are. Crump is taking on that role publicly, imo.

He yelled at them to "stop", and locked his patio door and went upstairs. It seems like he would have to have been outside in some way.
You have never stood at your door and yelled at someone or talked to someone without going outside?

Their lawyers may speak to each other about issues that arise.

There are many ways Crump is unprofessional IMO.
He doesn't even pronounce the victim's name correctly. I find that unprofessional and highly offensive to Trayvon's memory.

What?!! Exactly how does he mispronounce his name???

Their interests are most certainly adverse.

Could he? I know in some states you can't leave your table or podium. Are they allowed to address the other lawyers directly with an issue that doesn't involve the court? I don't know the FL court rules.

Unless O'Mara has to set up a desposition with Mr. Crump's clients, Trayvon's parents, I see no reason why he needs to talk to him? Mr. O'Mara's job is not to have a working relationship with Mr. Crump or Trayvon's parents. Mr. O'Mara's job is to have a working relationship with the SA in order to get this case moving in the right direction.

There is nothing that O'Mara can offer Trayvon's parents. He represents the man who killed their son. He needs to worry about his client. Not Mr. Crump's. At least until a deposition is needed.

Crump was sitting right there with them. Did the family tell OMara not to talk to them they have a lawyer?

Everyone was in that courtroom early before court started, plenty of time to ask a simple question.

I stand at a window or my patio door all the time to yell at the deer or racoons stealing bird seed out of my feeders. But I guess that's not really the same thing even if I do it with the screen door closed.

Besides, the wildlife doesn't listen anymore. Unless I go outside and jump up and down and scream at them, the deer don't even run away.:waitasec:

Have you ever heard him say Martin?!!
Drives me nuts!
Martin has a T in it.

It's not pronounced Mar En.

OT if you live close to a zoo go see if you can get lion poop. They say if you put that in your yard nothing will come into it. LOL

The family would not have to tell him. He knows they're represented. He can't talk to them even if the family were to say it's okay. Period. He'd already called Crump, maybe more than once (I didn't watch the vid at the link) and been totally dissed. So whatever. He did what was in his client's best interest, for which he is paid $6.66 per minute, so he'd darn well better :floorlaugh:

No, they are not.:banghead:

So you think his particular dialect is dispectful to his client?

If I'm reading this correctly, I find it extremely offensive!

Crump represents the victim's family. He has no business calling the defendant's attorney about this case. Period. You stated earlier that MOM may have had some information regarding the case, and wanted to speak to Crump. MOM is obligated to speak to LE, Special Proscutor about the case, if he so chooses, not the victim's attorney. I would think MOM would be a little bit more professional than going through a side route.

BEM: Why not?
