Have you ever heard him say Martin?!!
Drives me nuts!
Martin has a T in it.

It's not pronounced Mar En.

I prounounce my niece's last name, which is Martin, the same way Mr. Crump pronounces Trayvon's last name? Could it be our Florida accents? Maybe?

Certainly no one expected him to say "I'm sorry I killed your son". If his version of the story ends up being true, he said the exact right words.

Since no one expected him to say anything, better he should have kept his mouth shut and not issued the lamest apology ever.

Crump, imo,is most certainly ACTING like the opposing counsel. After every twist and turn, Crump and his legal team go front and center and make legal arguments and emotional commentary. I think Crump fits the description of opposing counsel as he represents Trayvons parents. JMO

Then you don't know the legal definition of opposing counsel.

So you think his particular dialect is dispectful to his client?

If I'm reading this correctly, I find it extremely offensive!

I find incorrect pronunciation of the victim's name highly offensive.

He is an educated man. He knows the T is not silent in Martin.

The family would not have to tell him. He knows they're represented. He can't talk to them even if the family were to say it's okay. Period. He'd already called Crump, maybe more than once (I didn't watch the vid at the link) and been totally dissed. So whatever. He did what was in his client's best interest, for which he is paid $6.66 per minute, so he'd darn well better :floorlaugh:

Many would disagree. I'm one of them.

You have more respect for animals then GZ ever had for human life.

MOO

Well, maybe, but the animals have no respect for me! The deer just stand at the feeders, munching away staring at as if to say, "Excuse me, hold it down - we're eating here!" The racoons just ignore me completely. :banghead:

I don't think it's accent.
Accent would not make the T silent.

You have never stood at your door and yelled at someone or talked to someone without going outside?

I'm missing the point. He described the man on the bottom as wearing red, the man who was yelling. What difference does it make whether he was standing at his patio door or standing in front of them?

Just because he doesn't pronounce a word the way you pronounce a word doesn't make it offensive? I am sure if you, from Louisiana, came down here to Florida, we would find the way you speak hard to decipher, but we wouldn't make fun of it... at least not to your face. :rocker:

OT if you live close to a zoo go see if you can get lion poop. They say if you put that in your yard nothing will come into it. LOL

I tried fox urine, but it did no good. We have red and gray foxes living here, and I guess the deer and racoons know they are no threat. The only other stuff the local stores sell has hot pepper and since I'm allergic, I can't use that.

Hmm - maybe the little local museum/wildlife center has Florida panthers. I'll check!

  • #851
Correct. But in a manner of speaking, in my opinion, they are. Crump is taking on that role publicly, imo.

Well Crump can't have it both ways, he didn't like it that GZ apologized in public, but he wasn't returning calls either. What did he want, a carrier pigeon? :waitasec:

I was just wondering where everyone was getting the idea that John said he was outside and came back in. It turned out he never said anything like that.

I know the legal definition of opposing counsel.

But let's not pretend that Crump is not the public legal voice, expressing loudly the opposing legal opinions of this case. Everything that happens, Crump and his team go on the airwaves and speak AS IF they are the opposing legal team. Is that not correct?

  • #854
Perhaps he has some form of speech impediment. Apparently the Martins don't mind so I have no idea why it's being made such an issue here. Probably best if we move off this track and get back to the case, not our personal feelings about those not directly involved.

Crump is not directly involved?

Crump is speaking for Trayvon's family, not the SA's office ! :deadhorse:

Try coyote urine if you can find it. Helped my brother with the deer problem around his house in Texas.

And? Does that mean he should not return calls from another attorney?

I understand your point, Katy, but Crump and O'Mara have no professional relationship that requires Crump to make a priority of returning O'Mara's calls. They are not, in fact, the same as "opposing counsel".

Crump may have thought O'Mara wanted his help. Maybe Crump wasn't in a hurry to offer assistance.

Let's move past different dialects and pronunciations.
Many people pronounce words with T's that way.

Not open for debate-the point is made -impressions are out there -enough has been said about it. any posts referencing it again will be removed.
Thanks

That might work - we've got coyotes, too, and they definitely go after the deer.

Thanks!
