2008.10.14 Tony L Interview w/LE

Because TonE was the last independent person outside the Anthony family to be with Casey. Because he would have information pertinent to her mood, actions, and statements which could prove useful in the investigation. Because as soon as the child went missing, TonE's shorts browned a lil and he started disassociating himself from Casey in a manner which suggests total shock that the person he'd had in his bed could possibly have killed her child. Because it would prove useful to see what kind of communication Casey or her family would attempt to have with him in the days following Casey's arrest, his phone was (willingly by him) tapped in order to record such communications. When Lee called to ask to meet with him to talk, they wired him (willingly) in order to get insight into what Lee wanted. Seems a no brainer to me that TonE would cooperate however he could possibly do to get the stank of Casey off him and his reputation.

:clap::clap: Also add that Tony immediately said I've never seen or heard of ZFG, and also seemingly immediately believed that it was a load of crap since KC didn't seem worried at all. Tony understood intuitively the normal reaction of a mother when her child is "missing/kidnapped" would be to freak out - not pretend the child is not missing, and go to blockbuster. Now I'm connecting the dots for him, but Tony saw KCs reaction over the period, compared it to the normal reaction, and concluded - nope that's not what happened. Instead of LA/CA/GA who "believed" this nanny story and looked for a live Caylee.

Can someone clear something up for me? TonE says the gas can incident that he's talking about in the bulk of the interview occurred on the 23rd of June. He says he picked her up from the Amscot on the 27th. I'm going off memory here... but I thought the car was first discovered at Amscot by the employee BEFORE the 27th... like maybe the 24th? And it was the 24th when KC texted AH and said the smell in her car "was definitely an animal"?

TonE recollects that they got into the shed to get the cans on the 23rd. George says Casey came back with them on the 24th, AFTER he'd reported them stolen, making him feel a fool. On the morning of the 27th, TonE woke up and Casey was gone. She called at 11:30 that morning to come pick her up at the Amscot where her car was "broken down." She had frozen things in her hands, including a popsickle he says she gave him and he ate. The worker at Amscot noticed the car there when she arrived that morning at 7. She makes no mention of seeing Casey there, however, and so the question is "Where was Casey between 6 when she left TonE's and 7 when the Amscot worker arrived, and where was she between 7 and 11:30 a.m. when TonE picked her up in the same spot, with frozen food in hand? That same day, she tells Amy it was definitely an animal smelling up the car.

OK. Without looking at my notes, I didn't realize that KC abandoned the car the same day the Amscot worker first saw it. It really is odd that TonE didn't smell the smell. IIRC from this past interview, he never saw inside the trunk but he did stand close enough to the car's gas compartment to hand her a gas can while she filled the car.

Well maybe he did smell the smell but did not know what it was, especially if the car was parked near a dumpster.

He says he doesn't recall any strange out of the ordinary smells. LE speculates it may have been due to the prevailing smell of gasoline.

Also, TonE admits that while she opened the trunk, he was kneeling down putting the cap back onto the other can. Then he stood up and went to his Jeep. I don't think he paid attention to her (car) trunk at all.

I think there was just that one tiny supplement to the first interview, like one line, remember, where he admitted to LE that he was the one who used the shovel to break into GA's shed to get gas cans? It was interesting the way they skirted around it in this interview so he didn't have to mention it again in this one.

Funny, cause it seems like it would be so much easier to just borrow a can or get a cheap can rather than breaking the lock on your friend's dad's shed. Also, that they just left the car the second time at Amscott. It's out of gas so let's just leave it there, period. Weird. Boy, he stammered a lot telling the tale. And the way when they asked if she gave a description of the guy who pushed the car for her, and he said, "Oh, yeah, I'm pretty sure she said he was an African American guy." Maybe she did but it seems odd, "Yeah, a black guy pushed the car up here for me." Seems strange someone would supply that description but I guess you never know, I mean would you say, "Oh, a tall guy pushed it up here for me. A guy in a blue shirt pushed it up here for me. A blond guy...." or whatever, just seems strange to offer description for no reason. Also, him going on about how he only drives in his own little area there, doesn't venture out away from the shops right by Sutton Place to go to other parts of the city. Also, him talking about how they would tease her by asking where has Caylee been lately. Why would that have been something to tease with?

He doesn't seem to have objected to her bringing groceries from her mother's fridge. MOO

One thing that struck me in his speech mannerisms, in the first interview he repeatedly said "her" when he meant "his", talking about guys. Then in this interview everytime he wants to say "her" he hesitates and says "the" instead. Unique, that's all. That's a bit odd the way he admits he and his roommates would tease her until she would cry. Whatever floats your boat I guess. All JMO

In response to the part I bolded, Tony didn't use a shovel to break into the shed. He used a tire iron.

Page 45 of LE's supplemental report. The same supplemental report also talks about Tony taking a polygraph. http://www.orlandosentinel.com/news/local/orange/orl-casey-anthony-interviews,0,100606.htmlpage

Tony and Casey stole the gas cans on June 23rd. Tony didn't smell anything that day. George was by the car June 24. He didn't smell anything.

At some point body fluid leaked out of the bags. Maybe that didn't happen until after the 24th?

thanks!

and wow, reading that was kind of sad.
it seemed to me like he was pretty into her in the beginning, returning her little lovey comments and wanting to see her badly and wanting to met her family. she was blowing him off and holding him @ arm's length.... (and wth is up with the 3 days bit??) and then later on he is super casual and offhanded about the relationship with her, messing with her, not returning the super lovey comments she is practically forcing down his throat.

the really weird part for me was when she was "at work".
was she just at home making up this elaborate story? this is the first time that i am reading it firsthand and WOW. i mean, d@mn! she is so casual about coworkers' names, and her boss, and the nanny and everything!

it sort of makes me wonder if maybe she really was working somewhere and we haven't found out about it yet. maybe a phone sex operator or something shady. i know this has been discussed to death. it just weirded me out how detailed and at ease she was with name dropping, etc. very creepy.

i wonder if there is a way to test the ip address of her chat with him...?
or does LE list a source for where this info came from?
if this is an aim chat log, it is stored locally on a computer. if from tony's then i wonder. if it came from her tower at home hat is just downright freakish.... she is just picking her nose and eating fudgesicles at home idly chatting about this whole nonexistent universe.

whoa.
It no doubt in her mind made her more interesting. He didn't really know her. She could pretend to be anyone she wanted to be. Though Casey seemed to think their relationship was serious (though the "game playing" doesn't lead me to believe it truly was), I don't think she's capable of getting close to anyone. She just "plays" at it.

You have a good theory there. But when did she first text amy about possibly a squirrel crawling up in her engine parts and dying?

do you mean wearing a wire for them as a punishment for smoking marijuana? No, I don't think there was any repercussion or further discussion whatsoever regarding any marijuana use or anything like that (I think he actually only told them KC smoked it but I don't remember him saying he did). When you are the boyfriend of the mother of a missing child, and the child's disappearance coincides with the mother getting involved with you and your friends, you were known to have been looking to get out of your lease and change apartments on the very dates in question, etc, if LE hardly investigates you much at all, and just says "hey would you mind wearing a wire when you have lunch with her brother?" I imagine you would say, sure, why not? He could probably say no, but who would if it's LE asking? Not as any kind of punishment for anything.

Normally when a child goes missing the mother's paramour(s) is considered a POI (person of interest), it is routine. Usually they are heavily investigated to rule them out. TL was barely investigated. LE only took routine statements from him, had him show them where he'd picked her up on those days, and did a basic evidence collection/examination of the back of his jeep, no cadaver dogs or anything else. I don't think there were any cadaver dogs used or forensics even done in his apartment. Nothing severe at all.
I can only assume that LE checked him out thoroughly. I also assume that perhaps the reason he wasn't considered a person of interest is that no one saw Caylee at the apartment/complex since early in June. I don't know why a lease expiring should arouse suspicion. He was also out of the area for a week's time. We have seen some of the conversation that took place between the two of them. Nothing out of the ordinary there...except for the fact that Casey was missing a child. I found him very credible. There's more to his story, too. I know there are mssing interviews, and it was probably addressed by LE then, but I did notice he must have talked about a time when he spotted Casey by the dumpster at the front of the complex. I look forward to heaing about all that.

Wasn't Lee the one that mentioned her the dead squirrel crawling up into the engine?

I thought there were two texts to amy about a dead animal. One was speculation that it was d dead animal, the next, a week or so later, was "definitely a dead animal".

Because TonE was the last independent person outside the Anthony family to be with Casey. May I add, What use would LEE be to be wired? LEE is part of this MESS! IMO

If you find any links about more investigation please share them (LDT or anything else, cadaver dogs ever being taken to his apartment or Fusian or anything, luminol ever being used in his apartment or at Fusian, etc) Thanks! All I know is there were a couple other interviews that have not been released but that's all I've heard of. But who knows what else may come out (but I'm not assuming they investigated him any more than that myself).

whoa.

Very sad, I know but it's what they do, make things up.. they have plenty of time to come up with stuff too, while they are picking their noses eatin' ice pops ;)

ETA- the pattern you mention above, it's how those with personality disorders reel in their prey.. acting all aloof, like they don't matter to you.. then once they get 'em they smother them.

Well maybe he did smell the smell but did not know what it was, especially if the car was parked near a dumpster.

He says he also didn't smell anything when he was standing with her next to the gas tank of her car on the 23rd.

And apparently no smell on her either because he says he never noticed any smell on either occasion (the 23rd or 27th). Presumably if he'd noticed any smell on any of the other dates she was parking her car at his place and staying with him, he would have mentioned it to LE.
