2009.02.17 New Tip: Misty May Not have Been Home

I wondered when watching NG why only 500 tips yesterday but over 1200 today??? Why such a huge jump in one day?

It just really bugs me that this "tip" came in a week later...really bugs me...

It also puts us into a vicious sleuthing cycle.. (head spinning here)

We "sleuth" and "suspect" ideas... the ideas become possibilities the possibilities become tips.. tips become NG bombshells.. bombshells become sleuthing material... makes ideas... ideas become possibilities...

No wonder our heads start to explode.

That being said.... "I think" she may have left. I also "think" she could be a heavy sleeper. (haven't you ever had a kids wake you up with their eyeball 1 inch from your face?? did you ever wonder how long they were looking at you before you woke up??)

With the short amount of facts coming out it will be very hard to know what the police is really getting as far as evidence, however... they do have to check out EVERY "TIP." Valid or not.

I wonder if she did go to brother's house or a friend's, someone like the brother's wife decided enough is enough and called in the tip.

I've always thought Misty wasn't at home. I think she often went out the backdoor while Ron was at work...and I think someone knew that. She puts the kids to bed at 8pm, she cleans up, checks on them at 10pm and they are sound asleep. She goes out the backdoor so neighbors don't see her OR so she can sneak in the back if she sees Ron coming home (he stated sometimes he gets off work early if there isn't much work) she goes to brother's or friends that night, loses track of time, sees headlights coming and races back home. She discovers Haleigh missing, not much she can do since she knows Ron is coming, so she just meets him at the door pretending like she just woke up. This would explain the delay in calling 911, she just barely got in the house before Ron. I would love to see the phone records on this one. When was her first call to Ron? She said she called and he didn't answer. What time was the first call?

I think LE probably got the 'tip' from canvassing the neighborhood, from a phone call, or from their own deductions. As wonderful as WS is, I don't think we should think we're the only people who could've thought of Misty not being home. While I do think LE reads these boards, I don't think they get their bonafide 'tips' from here.

Snipped for space...I wonder if he doesn't already know. I have thought from the beginning that he was not involved, but I have seen others who believe that he was and he set off their hinky meter. I wonder if what they are sensing is what I was sensing tonight when I heard him asking her how she could get his daughter stolen. I can't help but wonder if he already knew she wasn't home and because of her age and the legal issues with that and the fact that there were already custody issues before, did they circle the wagons and both agree she was home?

It sounds like RC is keeping his "enemy" real close at this point, keep an eye on her, in the same tent.

Either she wasn't home at all; or she wants it to look like she wasn't home as she's guilty of something sinister.

Is this the only one of the thousand or so tips that LE has spoken about?

It would seem they're giving this one some credibility, which leads me to believe that perhaps their investigation is uncovering some supporting evidence to back it up (something a random phone call from an uninvolved internet reader wouldn't have).

Tip schmip.
Wonder if someone local was reading on WS and decided to run with it...:waitasec:

we discussed this the other day when someone posted the rumor here. they said it was being posted on a couple of different boards/blogs. I just hope it wasn't someone that took an anonymous posting and ran with it to the police. Yesterday they had 500 tips and today almost 1200. I hope the increase is not alot of internet rumors and are truly legitimate tips.

Whatever it is, it smells of a family grab to me.

Maybe bio-mom learned that the kids were being left alone in the house at night, while RC worked and some concerned relative or boyfriend took matters into his/her own hands. There was a hearing the next day. The imminant hearing date and the timing of the kidapping make me question this as more than mere coincidence.

Just saying.

First instinct for me was bio-gma and mom as suspects. Then their significant others. Then their relatives. But, that is just my humble opinion.

I still don't get a hinkey meter reading at all on the gf and Dad.

He's dumb and she is dumber, but I think they are both telling the truth and someone else stole Haleigh from the house. The little inconsistencies do not concern me. It really does not matter in the grand scheme of things whether MC was home or not, or whether Haleigh was 4 feet away in her bed, or in the next room. What matters is that she is missing and I believe she was taken by an intruder. I will define "intruder" to be someone other than MC or RC.

Why would you think this?

Mainly because it's a week after the fact.
And because there are so many here who've speculated about M not being home from day one (really...day one this time...)
That's all.

I totally agree with you. I've said from the beginning it's either the biomom or a predator.

Actually Em, it was just released today.

Oh, well, that's a little different. I guess.
I certainly hope someone didn't take rampant speculation and take it as fact. M not being home has been discussed a lot, a lot of places.
So maybe this was called in last week...

I would imagine that LE must have fairly significant intel if they're willing to come forward with this; I can't imagine they'd introduce pure conjecture into the case without doing the legwork first.

If they have two or 20 people who have been able to corroborate the "tip" then it's probably valid. I doubt they were all "d00d. Look what this guy on Facebook said!"

The "they" thing is pretty normal, I think. I'm marginally well-spoken and say it all the time. It's easier than saying "Well, he or she likely..." And no offense to Misty, but she's not the most articulate sonnet in the compilation...

My thought is this: IF Misty was sneaking out to meet someone to do Lord knows what, then I have to wonder if who ever she was meeting wasn;t "talking" ad telling his friends . Perhaps whoever she was meeting, told someone and this someone is a SO or already had his eye on this beautiful little girl and once knew that Misty would be gone that night, he waited for his chance.

I thought that hadn't been determined yet? It's just a tip they're following, right? Or has it been confirmed?

I'm confused, as usual;)

What I heard on NG is that they have had 1200 tips from all over the nation. Said some tips may only be theories.

I sure hope the LE in that county are looking at real tips first before theories.

I think this is really what happened ... look at the quote in the article:

"I didn't make it to the bathroom. I seen the kitchen light on and I walked in the kitchen and the back door is wide open," Croslin told Channel 4's Laura Mazzeo. "I go in the room and she's gone. And that's all I know. When I went to bed she was there and then when I got up and she was gone."

These are key phrases - she sounds like she was coming in from somewhere else, out drinking at bro's place, had to use the bathroom but saw the kitchen light on or something else awry and instead of going into the bedroom where the bathroom and kids are, she proceeds to the kitchen and then notices the door open. It is only then that she goes to the bedroom.

She is totally hiding something, IMO.

I would love to know the floor plan of the house, it sounds like the trailer my sister had; (also double wide; master bath/bedroom).
In the dead of night, there's no way Misty could have slept through someone coming in that house and abducting Haleigh from next to her on the bed, or even the same room. Even with carpet on the floors, you can easily hear people walking around in those trailers.
If the layout is the same as my sisters was, then if Misty came out the bedroom, the backdoor would be on her left, a closet across from it. Then a foot later, the kitchen.
Is there any way we could all get an exact floor plan?

snipped from below article:

Rose went on to say that police are focusing on the timeline Croslin has given them in the case.

“We’re still working on the timeline, but we’re not going to divulge (specifics) at this time,” he said. “We feel pretty confident about when the girlfriend last saw Haleigh. That’s the timeline we’re focusing on.”

 sensing you friend! I felt like this all along too....I'm thinking to myself about the shacking up in the tent, the cozy way they are bonding. Then mix in his attitude & anger that seems likely inapropriate to some....His mother fully supporting her. Actually the Paternal side of the family seem to adore her...but given the dynamics....it's odd...and their body language doesnt quite match up to their facial expressions either.

So someone brings clothes over and she was there. More than likely this happened and everything was normal. M could have left after that for whatever reason. IMO/I've known people to do this before.MOO

See, if they all get found out that she left the two children unattended and they dont all cover their hind ends for it, they risk losing Jr. to the mother...after all, she now has a new stable life at this point in the game. I base this opinion on real life experience from a family member who lost custody for less.

Could M have been the one who propped the door open? She wouldn't necessarily need to do this, but it's a possibility.

I think we need to explore this "uncle" rumor and any involvement he may have had with Misty. Also...was she gone all weekend until Ronnie brought her back?

I hope the stores around there have video and LE has checked them to see if she might have showed up during that night.I'm very concerned after reading the cbs interview that kellync gave. Now,the gf is saying when she laid down, the boy was up and left her bedroom, that wasn't stated before.I am beginning to wonder with all the changing stories if she doesn't have a lying problem.IMO
