When this case gets moved to another city will Judge Strickland go with the case or will a judge from whatever jurisdiction take over? I really like this judge and he won't let his courtroom turn into circus like Ito did.

I'm not too worried about a moment of human reaction by the SA in a motion hearing, especially given what he was responding to. JB is a constant source of in and out of court improprieties. A comment about his belief or opinion that his client is innocent was totally out of line and improper. Having said that, I sort of enjoyed it, watching today. JB is full of bravado (scared ya, didn't I?) when performing for his client, so open and candid, but as soon as the judge indicated he was going to ask some questions, he was practically running to an in camera proceeding. He got a look of controlled panic when the court was questioning Casey. She fired off her usual disrespectful answers, including a very quick "yes" to the fact there had been only one retainer agreement. JB had to correct her fib, because there had been more than one agreement. It sort of sets the tone.



As for Casey, I think she's going to lose in any future juror comparison with Judge Strickland, if he is the trial judge. He is pretty nice while judicial, without teetering into indecisive, and her disrespect could annoy a lot of people. As far as smirking at the end, I always find that unpersuasive when accompanied by the clanking of leg shackles. Is there such a thing as a hollow smirk?

I never expected to hear the details of the money, but to get the conflict issue off the table, on the record, probably in camera. Since she may get convicted, she has to sell what she has to sell now. There must be arrangements where someone else acts for her in that, other than JB, or handles her "Connecticut money" from whatever freak would pay for her defense, as opposed to thousands of worthy causes.

I think the sidebar was directed to JB and his repeated attempts to make statements in court as to KC's innocence. He felt he had to get the last word when he asked for the reminder to the SA about leaks. He's very childish, especially his comment to Ashton in the end, "Are you alright?" He had a smug look on his face when he said it. I think Ashton wanted to come over and knock that smug right off his face. Baez better go and practice law in another county after this trial. He's made a major enemy out of Ashton.

Yes he did , I think he want to punch JB in the face. I myself wanted to go thru Tv and grab Casey she was giving the evil look. :furious:

I agree. Don't blast me with negative comments, but I am not honestly convienced beyond a reasonable doubt. Just not sure at this point. Maybe when I see the States case I will change my mind but as of right now I think there is reasonable doubt and all the negative media (NG) and petty issues of the state are leading me to believe she is being unfairly convicted by the public. If they through out the "junk science" in the case, then I think the states case is not that strong.

I just keep thinking about SP's case. There was way more room for reasonable doubt in his case b/c he didn't lock himself into a story about a made up person like KC did. A person that the defense isn't even ATTEMPTING to look for in order to convict instead of KC. IMO it's more believable that a random person would kill a woman than it is that a nanny would kill a 2 year old. If he was convicted on less evidence than the amount of evidence they have against KC, I believe she will be too IMO.

I like Strickland Too, But bet you any kind of money that JB, will try to get another judge. Strickland let it know that he think that Casey is liar.

Maybe they will decide no camera in the courtroom. That cameraman should stop playing little games. Boredom can do a lot of damage.

Can't do that! TruTV is already contracted to carry this trial live.....whenever that happens. I can't imagine it will be in October or even this year. It took Baez 27 months to get ready for his last trial!

Yup they did zoom in on Ashton's at one time, but also KC's at the beginning.

No. Today was about finding out how the defense is getting paid and if there is a conflict. The judge decided there is no conflict.

I'm not sure what 'junk science' you're referring to. And when the state reveals all their cards, which they haven't done yet, that little excuse for a human being will be dancing and partying with big Bertha behind bars.

I would lean more to your opinion other than the fact that she didn't report her daughter missing. It was because of CA that it was reported at all, and that is what took 31 days for CA and GA to get notice of the car at the tow yard and for CA to finally catch up with KC. If those events didn't happen, I believe KC would still be out partying w/o a care in the world and no one knowing that beautiful Caylee was missing.

What am I missing, with JB and KC acting like they "won" this round? I think the SA is probably pretty pleased with this outcome, because it just removes or diminishes one of KC's basis for appeal (conflict of interest). I would imagine the SA is ecstatic that this issue has been somewhat settled, JB gets to stay on the case, and KC just has less case for an appeal later. Am I missing something?

Here are some observations from notes I took during the hearing:

Different courtroom, maybe because of the short notice?
Baez & Garcia arrived at 10:15, I went in the courtroom then and Casey was already in there at 10:20.

Took a seat, then George & Cindy came in a couple minutes later and sat right by me. Uggg, that means I'll be in the zooms on them....

KC did NOT look at her parents AT ALL during the hearing, she did give them an extremely brief glance when leaving, wasn't really smiling or anything tho. I actually thought she looked kind of upset when leaving.

Cindy chewed gum throughout the hearing (Courtroom decorum rules, posted right outside the courtroom, say NO GUM. #15). She also texted a bunch, and her and George held hands quite a bit.

Near the beginning, Judge Strickland says to the SA "How do you know they're not working for free?" and Cindy says - loud enough for those around her to hear - "That's right!"
I resisted the temptation to tell her that as an Orange County taxpayer, we DO NOT want to pay for a second trial because of something like this, and it DOES need to be determined by the judge.

On the way back in from the in camera meeting, KC looked almost ready to cry. Did not look at her parents (or anybody in the seats). You could hear her chains clinking throughout the courtroom. heh

REALLY wish I would have been closer at the end to hear what it was that Baez said to Ashton that made him erupt. Very unprofessional conduct on Baez's part, in my opinion. He has broken the Courtroom Decorum Policy a number of times, a number of ways. I don't think he has even read it! I see at least 5 out of 16 that he has violated.

Afterwards, Baez met with George & Cindy for a few minutes out in the hallway, they had to move away from all the reporters that were crowding around.

Who cares. Dude's a moron, he should start b!tching about real issues that aren't made up inside his head. I have no clue how this guy became a lawyer, he is literally a joke of a man, I'm fo' real! If I had ever been assigned this guy as even a public defender I'd b!tch till they gave me a new one. He is a con-man, IMO!

He is about as transparent as Casey is. When he ran in front of the cameras awhile back crying about people picking on him because he is hispanic. Dude's a joke. The prosecuter had better stop letting JoseB get to him, though I totally get WHY he gets to him. He certainly seems good at annoying everyone in a room he happens to be in. He annoys the pi$$ outta me and I have never been in a room with him! LOL
