2009.03.25 - Motions Hearing

Seeing GA and CA sitting there in court...I have to wonder...have they not returned to work yet? The daily TV appearances are done and court is only once in awhile...what's keeping them busy?

You aren't missing anything. JB is missing it though. IMO just show's JB's inexperience in the courtroom. He just thinks he "won" a motion... finally. lol He hasn't realized yet that it only closes a door at the end of the trial for him and KC to wiggle through.
Right. SA technically "lost" the motion, but "won" the bigger gain because it keeps JB on as defense counsel (good for SA) and closes a possible post conviction basis to appeal a guilty verdict. The taunt of JB about leaks (which assumes the releases were wrong -- which they were not in Florida) was a not too subtle personal attack on the professional ethics of the individual prosecutor. That was below the belt and the SA was not personally hooked by that barb, but offended at the below the belt attack on anyone personally; as he should have been, himself or any other SA staff member.

Baez was asked if he was surprised at the judges reaction at the end of the hearing and Baez asnwered," I don't think I should reply on his temper tantrums.."
Surprised by the Judge's reaction or the SA's reaction? A defense counsel refering to an SA as having a "temper tantrum" is tacky in the extreme, but to comment that a Judge's response was a "temper tantrum" might violate more than social graces! So, are we talking "tacky" or borderline "contempt?" :nono: :ziplip:

OMG! WHAT??? do we have a link for this? I've gotta see it to believe it, cause I think that might truly be the stupidest thing he's ever said. Seriously.

Muzikman,
Thanks for the information from inside the courtroom and even though I listened on line, you filled in so many areas. I also enjoyed the clanking of the chains from KA's ankles comment - gave me a warm, fuzzing feeling.
Quick question if you will: how did you feel when you saw G&C, and KC, etc. up close, so to speak? Different than what you expected? Something tells me you've been in court before with the Anthony's so maybe my questions are old hat for you. But most of us only get to see the 'A's on the computer so if you see them in person how do their facial expressions and body movements connect with personalities. Thanks for all you do and taking the time to keep us posted.

I might have a couple comments over in the Parking Lot thread, for those of you interested.... :)
I'm interested but I couldn't find anything there. Where do I go?

Near the beginning, Judge Strickland says to the SA "How do you know they're not working for free?" and Cindy says - loud enough for those around her to hear - "That's right!"

That's a stark contrast to CA & GA's early support of JB as KC's lawyer. In fact, it seems that since Caylee was found CA seems to have given over to trusting JB. They'll smile, talk and even hug while KC refuses to bat an eye at her biggeest fan (CA).

The SS Caylee Marie for one..

(bold mine) I believe that the SA is fair and honest and motivated by justice for Caylee. I don't view today's motion to be "throwing stones." I believe it was a necessary step to sew up any little holes through which the defendant might slip, later on. I think any prudent SA would have done the same.

It's a shame they must face such odious adversaries, because it must be terribly difficult not to rise to the bait. But I certainly don't think any less of the prosecution when I do see that they are invested--even if that means there are occasional flares of temper.

Give me an honest SA who cares--even if he gets ticked off now and then-- over a smirking, bloated bottomfeeder any day.

ITA And what gets me is that JB didn't think the State was piZZed at his court room crap. His, "My client is innocent"-------> e-body is pickin on me. Playin to the camera.
The State wasn't mad because of the motion.
JB took that as-----> HA! I won and you are mad. She has the perfect Lawyer.

I agree. Don't blast me with negative comments, but I am not honestly convienced beyond a reasonable doubt. Just not sure at this point. Maybe when I see the States case I will change my mind but as of right now I think there is reasonable doubt and all the negative media (NG) and petty issues of the state are leading me to believe she is being unfairly convicted by the public. If they through out the "junk science" in the case, then I think the states case is not that strong.

31 days of your child being taken by kidnappers and she tells NO ONE? If not her than who? No reasonable doubt here.

Well, I just have to say.... the more Baez shows his butt the more satisfying and gratifying it will be when the gavel drops after she's been convicted. Then we can compare before and after pics. LOL. Even better when she's sentenced.

OHHHHHH!!!!! YESSSSSSSSSSS!!!

Plus did you notice that when JB reached for his "Purse" that he was watching over his left shoulder? I really figured he was expecting a big ole fist and he wanted to see it coming. LMAO

Is he really ready to play wid da big boys?

I overheard something about them being interns, not sure where they're interning though.

Thanks for that. I remember hearing JB say in an interview had interns working for him. I'm thinking they may be from that law school downtown where JB is teaching. Poor fellas will have to relearn everything.

technically, i think, yes. And that might be why le was so interested in the meeting with the abc woman at the ritz. Ca and ga want casey to walk in a really bad way and it wouldn't surprise me if they're footing the bill. ca and ga have long left caylee's memory in the dust.

yup! Day 31.

I'm surprised the camera guy zoomed in on her notes again after being told not to last time. How much do you wanna bet JB will b*tch about this during the next hearing (even though you totally can't see what's written)?

I thought it zoomed the State's table.

If someone took your child and said if you don't pay me $$ within 30 days I will kill her and if you tell the police I will kill her. What would you do? just curious?
