I edited my post regarding this Welaka guy. I saw this awhile ago and it stuck in my mind as a "possible" explanation as to why HC has not been found. Could this be what LE is really searching for a "crab trap" @ the Memorial Bridge. Now learning about who has "so much experience in crabbing" (post above) I think we should consider this possiblity.

Note: This local posted this right when the players were first arrested for the drug trafficing charges. Regarding his confusion about the records, the ones that were moved (RC, MC, TC & DB) originally showed up in the Putnam County jail bookings, then they quickly were removed from the booking log. We later learned this was because they were transferred to other facilities.

that video gave me the chills too. It's kinda odd that GMS has crabbing in her background. I just don't know what to say. I think we should consider this also. If that is what LE is searching for I wonder who told them to look there or who told them that this was a possibility?

What does a crap trap look like? Maybe I need to do some googling. lol

ETA: I found out what it looks like. I learned something new.

Could someone please post a picture of a crab trap that is being referred to in the video? Are there different types of crab traps? Are crabs saltwater or freshwater? Ger commented on the pics she took during the search this past week that the river water is brackish which means it consists of salt and fresh water. Is the search over or will it be continued Monday?

I'm like you B4, I know nothing about crab traps or crab trapping, I'm a Indiana farm girl!!

Suspicious1 I think I need to do some googling too!

Oh really. Thank you Grandma. I hope they find whatever it is they are looking for.

The ones I'm most familiar with look like a box frame covered in strong chicken wire. it has a hole at one end where the crabs can crawl in, but the wire is bent in so the crabs can't crawl back out. They can vary in size from about 1 x 1 to the size you see if you've ever watched Deadliest Catch.

Thank you Grandmaj-I hardly have time anymore to read down there!
Congrats on your new "job"!

I still don't see the family or anyone close to Haleigh disposing of her this way. When I say close, I mean someone who loved her. So could Misty do this? Yes, if she had the means to do it. Could someone she asked to get rid of a body, yes, as long as they were detached. I know I will get feedback on this, it is JMO.

Even if the river moves as slow as I've read (a third of a mile an hour) they couldn't really think something would be there 3 years later- especially something as small as a gun. Even accounting for drag, it probably wouldn't still be right there.

However, something weighted would.

TX I am late catching up on this and glad I read thru to your post, because this is EXACTLY what I thought first thing. Looking for a gun at the bottom of a coffee-black river two or three years after it was allegedly thrown over a bridge just seems like a needle/haystack effort of epic proportions. The gun would either have been silted over, or moved by the current, or perhaps both. I am sure there are scientists who could have estimated for LE how far a supposed gun could have moved in that time; do we have a WSer with this kind of knowledge? Seems to me that a search for a gun would span an area farther from the bridge than would a search for a weighted item...

Also I have now read both that there is "dredging" going on, and that divers are feeling along with their hands. If I understand dredging correctly, I don't think both are occurring at once. Dredging would indicate looking for buried items (i.e. a silted-over gun) while hand searches would indicate looking for larger item sitting on bottom.

JMO...

I'm with you, Bern. i can't wrap my head around a grand parent or great grand parent doing this to their grandchild.

Truer words were never spoken. That's the reason I think Haleigh died due to an accident, and I believe she is somewhere that Ronald finds "safe and secure." Although, I think it was an accident, I think Ronald was in a rage at the time, and and his actions would show that he isn't a fit dad. Evidently, it has come up before, about the proper way to discipline a child. I remember him saying he only punishes his children the way Child Protective Services says he can do it. That's the first clue that he had a temper!
I can't believe they would put her in a body of water, or just throw her along side the road. I think that maybe, he wants her body to be found, so that they can have a proper burial. I've wondered if the reason they keep calling attention to Tommy, is because she is on a property near his home. If I'm right about what happened to Haleigh, and if she has "just been thrown away," that family is pure evil!

IF they are searching for Haleigh, and I believe they are, why now? Why didn't they do this shortly after this all happened. Don't know what the LE is doing down there.

Since I suspect TN had knowledge of what happened almost immediately, and Misty is not the one responsible for what happened to Haleigh, I doubt Haleigh's remains were disposed of in this manner unless TN requested she didn't want to know and totally left the decision in the hands of Ronald or the males in the family who have served as role models in his life .....JMO

Who would those males be? TN's boyfriend? sister Crystal's male partner (never sure if they were married)?

I'm thinking that LE has received new information and that prompted these searches. After all this time there would have to be something that pointed them in that direction.

I don't think they are looking for a body, I feel they are looking for something that backs up one of the players stories of something that happened around the time Haleigh went missing.

Could be TN's boyfriend, but I'm more inclined to believe TN's brother, Ron's Unka Donald was the one called on that night..but thats just my opinion..

Maybe someone did find something suspicious out there and reported it to LE (using that clawlike thing)? If someone pulled the trap up and lost it due to its weight???
One other thing this guy told me, crab traps would NOT be placed in the middle of the river (in his opinion) they would be placed closer to the banks. In other words, it would not be common to find a trap in the area being searched. IDK anything about the crabbing business which is why I asked him.
He also felt that most people in this area are familiar with crab traps and how they work; whether they are in the business or not. I offer this as something to consider ...
Aa good while ago when we were discussing the dirty clothes allegedly found in the dryer, I speculated that they might have been removed from a nylon mesh laundry bag which was then used to hold Haleigh's body. I thought a cinder block might've been thrown in for good measure, though it really wouldn't be needed. Nylon holds up well in saltwater. The mesh would allow gases to escape while keeping the body contained. In other words, it wouldn't float to the top. Later, I had an "aha!" moment when I saw this guy's video. As a kid, I did a lot of crabbing and watched my father and grandfather make crab traps and fishing nets. That's why the nylon mesh laundry bag seemed so, well...logical.

Also, for those who grow up and live most of their lives near water, putting a body to rest in a river or ocean is not such a repulsive notion. Without getting into the archetypal symbolism of water, I'll just say that it's a natural concept. So, I don't find it at all difficult to imagine these players putting little Haleigh's body in the St. Johns.

Ach! What a horrible thing to be typing on this beautiful Sunday morning. Happy Easter, sleuthers.

Those would be my top two choices.
