IMO silt and slime would wash away from a smooth plastic container while being pulled up. A smooth container has no pourous or rough surface for silt or slime to stick to.

Yes, but generally, these plastic containers will stain. Not saying this one did, as the pic is not a close up.

MOO of the 'box' in the river... I didn't see the live viewing of it, however, I was watching the live report on news4jax when the reporters said they would show some earlier footage from a helicopter to give an areial view to give an idea of what the area the searchers were dealing with was like. (paraphrased) IMO, this was just a random clip they chose to show, as it had several people on the dock and in the water, but this is just my :twocents:. I don't think a body was in it, mainly because, as someone else has already pointed out, the ME would have to be called in.

Based on your recent post, I just had a horrible thought. What if they used quickcrete and Haleighs body is actually encased in that container i.e., concrete tomb. Ugh! Just sickening to think about. Could be why the ME wasn't called out and why it took 3 men to pull it from the water?!?

IMO that would be a possibility. I know it's horrible to think about, but so is dumping a child in a river.
Nevaeh's killer used quickcrete to try to hide her in a very shallow grave.

I'm kinda thinking just concrete blocks were added, but I guess at this point anything would be possible.

Suspect is in custody could mean suspect is in custody as of today or as of sometime ago.

This is making me nuts.

IIRC they carried the suitcase like a casket to a LE jeep
and took it to ME to open for all evidence????

Passionflower, even if they had found Haleigh and are just not announcing it as of yet, I don't see them charging anyone yet for her death. It would be too soon, I would imagine. I would think that they would want to have every tee crossed and every i dotted before signing off on an arrest warrant. You know what I mean? Just my humble opinion given what we know at this particular moment in time.

Something in a semi-airtight container would likely have been harder for scent dogs to locate. ...and might not leave much of a scent from a short ride in a vehicle.

If it was under water, it might not release any scent until much later, I'm guessing.

Maybe Sarx will help us with this, if it turns out to be anything.

Elle I hope they don't stop until they find her. It's been too Darn long. It is about time.... I told you we had to be patient and let God handle this.

AND THAT'S EXACTLY WHAT HE DID....HANDLED IT. Elle, my friend, I believe we are nearing the end. A sad one, no doubt, but Haleigh needed to be found...dead or alive.

They've already called in the family. When was the last time you seen them do that?????? This is it.

I believe we are nearing the end as well. I just had a gut feeling it was coming very soon. Thank God, yes, he listens and answers prayers.

the only thing I wonder about is the words S hardy used, about bringing the case to a logical conclusion. Maybe it's just me over analyzing everything.....but ...it just made me think they were looking for evidence, but not a body. I hope I am wrong i want Haleigh to be brought home.

If Haleigh is found in a sealed box of some sort, then it would not be unsealed until it was at the morgue, IMO, to preserve evidence. Did anyone see where the cadaver dogs are?

That's what a terrible couple did here in Texas. They put the poor child in a rubbermaid bin, then poured quickcrete in it over her, then threw it over a bridge in Galveston. :no: It took a very long time to wash up.

SATSUMA, Fla. -- Putnam County Sheriff Jeff Hardy said he met with the family of Haleigh Cummings but asked that their conversations stay between him and the family.

Hardy said investigators still have not found Haleigh.

"We're going to continue this investigation until we can bring it to a logical conclusion," Hardy said.

When asked if the investigation was moved from a missing persons case to a homicide investigation, Hardy said, "That is a decision that will be made later."

Several of Haleigh's relatives were brought to the sheriff's office earlier Tuesday where they were inside for about an hour and a half to inform the family of the search and updated them on the investigation.

Jail records showed that Misty Cummings, was removed from the St. Johns County Jail for a short time Tuesday. The sheriff said she was being brought back to Putnam County for an interview.

By 5:30 p.m., Cummings was back in the St. Johns County Jail, where she's being held on drug trafficking charges.
