2010.05.13 ~ Werter speaks out ~ another plea?

  • #81
Not buying anything that tommy or his attorney are selling..nope.

I don't believe it either. It just doesn't add up. If what TC said was true, How could Joe be holding a gun to MC & TC while he was raping & killing the baby? I still believe TC did it.

  • #82
Actually, Werter never says Joe. He says Tommy "accompanied'em to the river". I wish we could see the entire, uninterrupted interview with Werter.

Werter never said "Joe" and Tommy doesn't say "Joe". FloraH said "Joe" and the reporter said "Joe".

Not good journalism.

I don't believe it either. It just doesn't add up. If what TG said was true, How could Joe be holding a gun to MG & TG while he was raping & killing the baby? I still believe TG did it.

Ok my head must really hurt who is TG?

I know this is O/T, just wanted to point out that on Art's site he had mentioned that WBG lived on Magnolia as well.

As for Tommy, I will say it over and over. That call to Grandma was not the same story of what Tommy told LE IMO. Grandma was the one who started out with..Is it the story Misty is saying -- Joe?" Tommy says No first, then "but", then yeah. That tells alot IMO. I feel Tommy is afraid for his family, but not of Joe. Of Ron...who is the one with a violent background? Who is the one that threated to kill, put a gun to Misty, and put a dead rat in Tommy's mail box? IMO, Tommy is afraid of Ronald...not Joe. JMO

Just a clarification-the Magnolia St. WBG's mother is linked to is in Palatka, not by the Shell Harbour boat dock.
There are many "Magnolia's" in Putnam Co.

The rest of your post I completely agree with-spot on!

One question.. Is/was the dwelling located at 130 Magnolia occupied by the Croslins on February 9, 2009 referred to as a trailer? JMO

Yes, I believe it was a trailer, it was occupied by H&L, although H was hospitalized at the time. GER has pictures of it in the Pictures of Putnam County thread. It's green and white.

In the strict context of what Werter said, 130 Magnolia is even more so a "trailer". Trailers like the one at 202 Green are more often than not referred to as "doublewides".

From Ger's pictures:

Gotcha.. Thanks CP

I agree, Misty, Ronald and Chelsea started the Joe did it defense when Haleigh first went missing.
LE spoke with Joe then and recently for 45min. Compared to the 14 hrs they questioned Chelsea in MA.
Hollars is repeating what she hears from Misty and the rest of the players, that doesn't mean Tommy told LE the same stories Misty has and is sticking to.
From the call made on April 11 from Tommy Grandma starts off with the Joe did it...the same story Misty told. Tommy says no, but, then yeah. He goes along with Grandma and at the same time begs for her to call Lindsey so that Lindsey can contact his attorney. He also says Lindsey know the real story. I now wonder if her trip to MA was to see if she found the gun or to get information out of Timmy and Chelsea. I know they all lie, but for some reason I do believe Tommy is afraid for his family...just not afraid of Joe. Afraid of Ronald. JMO

Cummings seeks plea, Misty not surprized and has no new info for LE
If deal goes through, Cummings will testify against Misty Croslin and Hank Jr.

Ronald Cummings next court appearance set July 19, 2010.
Hank Jr. (Tommy) next court appearance set June 3rd & June 21, 2010.
Misty Croslin's next court appearance set June 8, 2010.

Hollars and Overstreet's attorney could not be reached Thursday afternoon for comment.

Misty faces eight counts of trafficking, including seven in Putnam County and one in St. Johns.

Misty Croslin, has already told detectives all she can, said her attorney, Robert Fields.

Fields said he has not negotiated with prosecutors but is not surprised that others have been making deals.

"Misty's position is she's told law enforcement what happened and it's their decision to act on the information," he said.

Fields said the drug charges create pressure on everyone to cooperate with detectives. After the arrests, investigators said they intended to use the opportunity to discuss HaLeigh's case.

"Any reasonable person could come to the conclusion that the cases are linked," Fields said.

Neither am I, and from where I come from ..... a dead/headless rat doesn't mean ..... Happy Holidays!!! or Good Luck!!! .......or well ....... anything good for that matter.

I just have a hard time believing that the, HE Tommy speaks of is JO.
I do think Tommy is working on some type of deal, I'm just not sure that we heard the same story officially told to LE.

In reference to myself I'm thoroughly convinced the HE Tommy is speaking of is NOT Jo....JMO

I still don't see how/why LE or the SA would need Ron to testify. They have audio and video evidence in the drug case, along with the UC's testimony or account of events ....... should be worth well more than a felon's word.
~JMO

They need to appease the public somehow. How else are they supposed to explain why Ron gets a slap on the wrist ONE MORE TIME?

Just a wild guess: MG & TG = Misty and Tommy Groslin, aka Croslin? A typo?

:martini: anyone?

Is Werter just hoping for his client then? What do we know about his credentials?

Morning Kimster, I am catching up so i have no idea if anyone answered this one for you yet or not.

Werter's credentials. yes, according to many members here, Werter has excellent credentials. There is a nice discussion thread a few pages back where he is linked.

He is a former LE officer, and he served at the SA office. He seems to be well respected and is described as straight shooting and honest.

Funny, we have Ron's attorney saying the plea deal has nothing to do with the Haleigh case and Werter saying saying basically the plea deal is all about the Haleigh case, or should I say the cooperation in the Haleigh case......either way.

  • #93
Yeah I seen Lidnsey in the Video, hmmmm

Yup Lyndsy was in the video. In the background while Werter was speaking to the media as well as in the courtroom standing in front of the bench closest to Tommy. Tommy reached out and touched the bench with his fingertips as he passed.

Joe seems to be only one with a decent attorney. I mean, I wouldn't think that anybody in this world would repeat a story like that--that Joe held a gun on him. If I were Tommy's attorney, even if I believed that was true, I sure wouldn't repeat it to the world, because I wouldn't think anybody in this world would believe it. And then he says that without Tommy's help, " . . . this case would still be in a quagmire."

Can he be serious?

Excuse me, but why didn't Tommy help out on 02/10/09?

Werter can be heard explaining that at this link:

http://www.firstcoastnews.com/video...ail+Phone+Call+with+Tommy+Croslin/85486361001

"He [Tommy] has been living under an atmosphere of fear for almost a year and a half."

Many of us believe things others here might consider to be absurd, and many of us consider the beliefs of others here to be absurd. But I doubt there's a single person here who buys that story.

And then the way the story at gainsville.com ends:

"Werter said he would consider a plea deal for Tommy Croslin from prosecutors."

The problem is prosecutors won't consider a deal with Werter.

And Tommy's talk about how Joe can't get to his family now in the call to Granny Hollars--this isn't believable either. Tommy is not only a liar: Tommy is a horrible liar.

However, I still tend to believe the basics of Tommy's story. Chronic, hardcore liars tell the truth sometimes.

This whole case is just incredible. I can't remember the last criminal case I followed at all.

This is slightly off topic, but I don't know where to put it--but at the end of part 2 of the interview with JO and his attorney, beginning at about 10:45, what I hear is Joe say that he left the same day Haleigh disappeared, "later that night". Here's the link:

http://www.firstcoastnews.com/video/default.aspx?bctid=85491009001#
/Joe+Overstreet+Interview%2C+Part+2/78546680001

Part of this whole thing is not only do these people lie, but they also don't pay much attention to questions they're asked or to the answers they give--I mean at times when they are not lying. And I think that sometimes people take Misty's confusion or misunderstanding or not paying attention and saying anything. I think this explains Ron's behavior during the Greta interview, when Misty gets inches mixed up with feet.

Yeah, you right. (Whaddya mean "in those days"? :) )
It's terrible journalism. A large majority of viewers will not note the distinction, and simply presume Werter meant Joe based on the splicing of the video without hearing him actually utter the words. We may very well learn that Werter was, indeed, making a reference to Joe, but when the implication is murder, we should presume nothing, imo. I'll tell you what, though, that Werter is one slick lawyer.

Werter said he would consider a plea deal for Tommy Croslin from prosecutors.

Sounds to me like LE isn't making any offers....

If this version is true (and I highly doubt it) I'd make Tommy an offer alright! I'd offer him the right to spend the rest of his life in Jail rather than the death penalty! If he knows what happened, and kept his mouth shut for all these months, I'd throw the book at him! Why would you reward someone for with holding information in a homicide? Makes no sense!

Hank Croslin Jr. also was in court Thursday.
The drug charges were continued to June 3 while the grand theft charge was set for trial on June 21.
James Werter, said he is "piggybacking" with the Misty's case, since the two require the same witnesses. He also said he sought a plea deal.

"The state, so far, has not agreed to negotiate," Werter said.

He added that Hank Croslin Jr. is not a malevolent person, and has cooperated with law enforcement since April 11, which lead to a three-day search of the St. Johns River at the Shell Harbour boat ramp in Satsuma.

No human remains of Haleigh were found in the search, however investigators did find items of interest that were sent away for analysis.

As Croslin walked through the courtroom, he mouthed "I love you" to his wife, who said she had not seen him since his arrest Jan. 20.

Lindsy Croslin, was sitting with Croslin's mother and father, felt the outcome of his case would be positive in that he will get less than the minimum.

"I'm just here to support my children's father," she said.

OK, so I'm reading backwards now, and it looks like we are all on the same page. Joe is not involved! Something keeps ringing in my head about Werter saying Joe was not involved way back when this news broke. Am I dreaming, or did he say this? I don't have time to research.......my dog's sick, (going to the vet) taking my husband back to the doctor, gotta go to license bureau, drug store visit, and baseball game this afternoon.
It looks like you guys are saying Lindsy was in court yesterday...is this true?

  • #99
Ok, so Lindsy says "I'm just here to support my children's father." Doesn't sound like she is still "in love" just supporting her children's father. Speaks loud and clear to me!

But yet she filed a divorce :banghead:
