What strikes me the most about all of the tapes that I have listened to is the fact that these people just DON'T CARE!!!! There isn't one ounce of compassion, concern, remorse, nada in any of these conversations. Tommy's one and only concern is what is going to happen to all of his stuff. I don't hear him mention his children at all in the last two recordings. It's just completely nauseating for me to listen to them so I appreciate all of you taking the time to transcribe them.

Edited to add that I just heard him finally talking about his kids.

Completely agree. How can ToC talk talks about protecting his family when there is a little girl dead? Nobody really cares. All they worry about is getting out of jail. I don't even know if he's telling the truth. He was trying to send a secret message to his dad in couple of tapes that sounded as if he is just telling this story to get out of jail. I don't know, there is something not right...:waitasec:

Go ahead and start opening threads for these tapes individually if you'd like. On the opening post, provide a link and a few highlights that can be found on the tape for easy reference in the future.

Thanks so much!

On the Tommy Tapes, Tape 12, at 7:12 - When Hank says they think you been holding back, Tommy says "I been lying".

Tommy Tapes, Tape 13 - Tommy keeps repeating that it is "all BS". All of it. ** (Listening to these tapes I am positive the whole JO story is made up, as a cover for what Tommy is really telling his lawyer and LE.)**

Some guy is putting money in Misty's account and sending Lisa money so she has minutes on her phone and she is going to put some of it in Tommy's account.

I've been listening to some of the tapes again. The common subject on all tapes is ToC trying talk to his wife, who finally decided the right thing for her and her kids. What part of she doesn't want any contact with him whatsoever he does not understand.

I think LindC has made the right decision. Divorce him and visitation with ToC should be supervised. None of this people should be around kids. They are ALL bad example for children. If ToC would be sooo worry about his kids he wouldn't be doing drugs, taking his kid to the bus stop and falling asleep because of drugs, stealing guns and fighting his father probably for drugs too. He should have taken care of his family before. He never has.

Tapes 8 and 9, listen to them very carefully. Tommy is trying for his dad to understand what he is doing, I believe he's is lying to get out of jail. does anybody got that impression?

BTW, What is this guy thinking when he bothers his family all day long to make 3 ways with his wife, who does not want anything to do with him? His brother was working and he just don't care, he is asking everybody to call LindC...annoying

Tommy videos:

I have only seen the first one so far, but is with Lindsy, and takes place before her visit with Timmy/Chelsea. It's interesting what he says about the JO did it story.

Tommy: I was talking to my dad and mom yesterday and they don't believe nothing Misty says either....everybody knows she's lying

L: yeah I know ... I ain't worried about it

T: me neither, don't bother me one bit

L: it does sometimes me but, today I don't mind

T: who cares ya know she's lying anyway

L: I know but you don't like to hear (and Tommy is talking over her at this point)

T: I think she is even lying about Joe .. now why wouldn't she have told us?

L: yeah I know out of all people, she would have definitely told, I think

T: especially since he was on his way home, on the interstate in a car, couldn't get to her at all

L: yeah I didn't think about it that way but, you're right

T: ya know and there's all the police around us, there's no way he coulda got to her ...... I was told he was supposed to put a knife to her throat, and told her if she told he would kill her ... that's what I was told

L: can't kill... I heard the same thing

T: he couldn't do that if he was on his way to Tennessee in a car, the police woulda pulled his a** over and got him

I don't recall that Tommy actually TOLD Flora Hollars that JO is/was the perp, but Grandma Hollars blatantly SUGGESTED it. Tommy agreed with what FH said and did not question or dispute his grandmother's supposition. It seemed very easy for Grandma Hollars to put words into Tommy's mouth without him challenging her. Flora Hollars appears to be the omniscient matriarch of the family and noone dares to question anything that she says or does. jmo

:floorlaugh:

big surprise. Tommy can't keep his lies straight either. :loser: :liar:

I suppose Lindsy took this convo to the divorce lawyer after Tommy changed his tune. Divorcing him on grounds that he's a "whimp". (my word, different than hers) LOL.

I certainly hope LE asked Tommy about this particular convo with Lindsy before they mobilized team river search. As I hope they interviewed Misty about the letter to Chelsea about Joe and learned it was just a Misty dream.

I would think they did.

Tommy must have provided compelling info and they must have had some corroborating evidence. I don't know this, I just can't otherwise rationalize the search!

Thank you, yes it sounds like we have to keep the time frame these visits were made in in perspective. This conversation was before Tommy took his poly and had his come to Jesus moment. This was probably right before he took the polygraph and then called his Gram Flo to ask Lyndsy to call his lawyer saying he had to do something that he should have done a long time ago. JMO

Yes, this all did take place before the river search, but this added together with the Tommy phone call, from during the river search, basically saying he was lying, and I just cant believe the JO did it story. Add Misty's dream into the mix and ...... :banghead::banghead:

Okay, so the nugget of truth in the big fat lie was the location?

You know, there's a good point. We should really figure out if the Tommy phone calls are numbered backwards chronologically. That could make an interpretation difference.
I think the Tommy tapes are generally in chronological order because there is a progression in his thought process. In the first ones, he talks about what he "seen" and what he's "gotta do". He's excited and under the impression that what he's going to do will help to clear him. There is anticipation in his voice. He and Misty will sign sworn statements, and Joe will be arrested. After the first few tapes, it's downhill. There is an increased urgency to make his father understand what's going on. Lindsy grows further and further away. She has a new man, then we hear she has a new car. Tommy is desperate to speak to her so he can explain. Then we learn she won' let Hank and Lisa see the kids. In the end, Tommy seems to accept that she really is leaving him, and is worried about what she will do with his belongings. He says words to the effect that he thought he was helping himself, but it got "messed up". He hoped the plan would help him get home, but now there will be nothing to go home to. Going through my notes, I see other indications that the tapes are in chronological order, but I don't have time to list them point by point because I'm still trying to get through the new ones.

thanks bessie. that was what I thought was happening ... the background lindsy noice helps date the tapes. All discussions are assuming this order...it shows a deterioration in Tommy's confidence ... he still seems to think he's "okay", but not so sure about Misty. I can't figure out why he thinks he's still "okay".

When Tommy says on his calls with his father that he's just trying to get himself & Misty home - it is as if he is trying to say - "I'm cutting a deal Dad, but don't believe a word of it - you know me, I wouldn't do this".

Who does Tommy hope to fool with this? His Dad? LE? Lindsy? He knows he's on a recorded call.

Anyone figure this out? Is he playing a game to trap another player?

Maybe I'll just dream about it like Misty does and it will be clear tomorrow.

Friday night I did dream about it, Emma. Then I woke up and lay there for hours trying to figure it out. I'm a little closer to understanding, but it's still not clear.

ETA: Thoughts on why Tommy was so obvious. Frustration and desperation. He thought the plan was going to be carried out swiftly and without a lot of fanfare. He was surprised to hear about all the televised coverage. He also didn't count on Nanny Hollars making the media rounds and incriminating him. When Misty refused to keep up her end of the deal and the plan went awry, his hopes slipped away. He was losing Lindsy and even his dad seemed to doubt him. He had to make someone understand but couldn't. Even Timmy wouldn't talk to him. Imagine his frustration. Arrrrrgggghhhh!!!!! Poe couldn't have written it any better.
