Officials discussed a plea agreement to drop two of the five trafficking charges.

"He would plead to the three lesser charges," defense Terry Shoemaker said. "And part of the plea agreement is that he would plead guilty."

Shoemaker is hoping Ronald Cummings will only receive 15 years after the plea deal is made with the state, with the two higher charges - which would mandate a 25-year minimum sentence - dropped.

That would happen Shoemaker said, in exchange "for giving all information he has regarding everything and anything they ask him."

Shoemaker could not specify what that would entail, but he said that it would encompass, "everything that is pending throughout the whole year and a half."
Cummings would also give "substantial assistance" in the narcotics case and testify against Misty Croslin if she goes to trial on the drug charges.

Despite the Haleigh Cummings case being labeled a homicide, the Cummings family still holds hope that Haleigh is alive. Cummings is not considered a suspect in his daughter's disappearance.

"I think that he believes that law enforcement is heading down the right track," Shoemaker said. "Who all is involved, he doesn't know."

Under what type of justification could the SA and Judge possibly be a part of a deal with Ronald Cummings in this drug case that results in his sentence being equal to or possibly even less than Hope Sykes received?

Have they not seen the videos that we all saw?

Have they not reviewed his prior arrest record?

Did they not see him handing the drugs to the UC officer and taking the money to complete the sale(s)?

Did they not see him receive a 200 pill quantity of illegal narcotics from the UC officer and discuss specific payment terms that were a part of his purchase?

Did they not hear Ronald Cummings assure the UC officer that two weeks to get the money was NO problem, that he could work and get the money and eat the pills himself in a two week period?

Why are we having to hear Shoemaker talk about a "window of opportunity" and "that was nice of them" in reference to the SA?

The Putnam County Sheriff's Office and other cooperating agencies did a masterful job of securing the arrests of all these drug dealing criminals. If it's all undone by a Judge and SA, you need look no further for the problem in Putnam County, Florida.

It was just funny how you said it because I personally feel like Ron's that type of guy. He'll tell anything and everything if it will help him out in some way. JMO

Ummmm, Annette? What about what's best for Haleigh?

I know...I was just jokin' with ya....

Truth is, I said it that way on purpose because that's how it was said in the original article, and it almost made me choke, too!

The way I interpret Shoemaker's words is: Ron will agree to tell anything and everything about anything and everything that LE wants to know about. So apparently Ron and his attorney are inviting LE to question Ron, and Ron will answer all questions put to him, without his attorney stepping in to limit questioning or stop the interview, and once LE has all the information they want from RC, the state will then drop two charges and Ron will plead Guilty on the remaining three.

Am I interpreting it correctly? Someone...help...please point out any errors you see in my interpretation.

Well, it shouldn't take very long for Ron to say his four little words, "I was at werk".

ITA! He's stated this over and over from the beginning. What has changed? Or is it going to be:

"I was at work BUT I HEARD...."

Really, what else can he say?

I do hope that while Ron is getting all this information out that he is hooked up to a poly and a voice analysis is also being done or IMO, it is totally worthless.

... Shoemaker's wording left a lot unsaid, but was he trying to say that yes, indeed, Ron was with Misty, in an attemt to help cops? LOL. but the way it was worded, it looks like LE DID ask Ronald to divorce Misty, but the plan to 'isolate' her was all his. But, who knows....I don't know what this LE is capable of doing. They very well may have been working with Ronald. But what exactly did all of that espionage accomplish? ...

Dodie, do you have a link for where LE said they asked Ron to divorce Misty? I know Shoemaker has said that, but I have not actually heard LE say it and would appreciate being directed to LE's version of this. THANKS!

How will anyone prove what Ron testifies against Misty to be true? What can Ron have on Misty other than hearsay?

What if Ron testifies and what he testifies to is a lie, and SA finds out...is the deal then off, and he has to serve all time?

i am just trying to figure out what in the world Ron could have on Misty. If it is something damning regarding HaLeigh's case, could Ron be charged with Obstruction of justice, or interfering with an ongoing investigation? Basically b/c he witheld information? He really can't expect someone to belive that he got new information since he has been in jail, none of them are locked up with him..well Tommy is in PCSO but i don't think they are in the same block...

this is just CRAZY

Okie Dokie, nooooow I get it. He's getting the deal for trafficking in illegal narcotics because he has to come clean about the rat in the mailbox caper!

He already confessed to TM and MN about the rat in the mailbox..

I think Papa was being sarcastic....lol.

Pretty obvious and very so-HIM that rc would come up with some kge about misty, tommy and JO that just happened to slip his mind for eightenn months. Remember, this is about rc now, not Haleigh...important stuff, ya know :furious:

I've never heard LE say this, but Ron has said it , & now Shoemaker is saying it-& both without any correction from LE...so, unless they dispute it, I'm assuming that yes, LE did ask Ronald to divorce Misty.

  • #56
I do think that if Ron gives pertinent information, regarding Haleigh, that he's gonna pretty much walk away from these drug charges. Maybe that's why he's holding out. He knows he's got everything that LE needs, & he's not willing to give that up, & still go to the pen. Well, wouldn't that be just hunky dorey, if after all this time, Ron can solve this case? Either he knows what happened, because he was directly involved, or because he was covering for Misty. What a great guy. How about adding some abstruction charges to go along with that trafficking? & statutory rape? & child endangerment?

Shoemaker says, "I think that he believes LE is heading down the right tracks".

He thinks that is what rc is thinking? What a bunch of malarky! Yeah, right TS...I can just hear rc telling you how much he believes in LE and all their efforts to question him and find Haleigh ..NOT....doe not sound like anything rc would say or think...IF you want LE to let him off the charges he has than this is your way of azz hissing. He also would like a sympathetic public and prosecution, so it is time for you to go to the media and give us a bunch of your best legaleeze...why else are you working for him. It is your job to spin the case!

Everytime RC has got in trouble since this case started, he turned his praises of LE and interest to finding Haleigh. It is his, yours and his family's ways of diverting attention from himself and, Mr Shoemaker, you are the master of diversion. It is all self-serving and disgusting.

You do not believe rc thinks that. You want the public to believe that rc is praising LE for his daughter's sake, when in reality, you are the one praising LE and it is for your client's benefit...nothing more. I know you really don't believe what your are pontificating!

IDK, this one may need a thread of it's own but AH has a new article up today. It's got previously unheard quotes from Fields, Shoemaker, Steve Brown, and Lt. Greenwood. One that jumped out to me was:

The drug trafficking charges against Cummings, Misty and Tommy Croslin appear to be such slam dunks–all caught by hidden police undercover camera –that Tommy has plead no contest and awaits sentencing Aug. 6, Ronald has agreed to plead to three of five charges with sentencing delayed until after Misty’s trial, and his ex-wife plans to plead no contest to her drug charges Aug. 22 when the so called ringleader appears in Putnam County Circuit court, attorney Robert Fields tells me in an exlusive interview.

http://www.artharris.com/2010/07/20/exclusive-misty-croslins-bad-memory/

I don't get it. If Tommy and Misty both are pleading no contest, what exactly is Ronald Cummings supposedly bringing to the table for his "deal"?

  • #59
Information about Haleigh is what rc is offering up Papa. My opinion is he wants to make sure they are locked up and sent away before the pleads his case on his efforts to get all the bad guys. He is a piece of work, that .....(fill in the blanks)

  • #60
Apparently one of these charges is a very small amount ( I did not know this) and rc wants one more 15 yr minimum charged knocked off. That will leave him with x1 fifteen minimum and x1 three yr minimum. He is hoping to get 8-10 years instead of 15 (split down the middle). I believe that is Shoe's latest tactic and that is why the delay and attempts at getting the State to drop ONE more charge. RC has to come up with something good to get it.
