2010.07.26 Grand Jury begins

SNARK ALERT!

So what are they thinking...she 'disappeared' Kyron and then went for her double shot, no foam, low fat mocha?

yeah, and next thing we know it will be the "mocha defense" ([ame]http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Twinkie_defense[/ame]). "your honor she used to drink LOW fat with no foam...and THAT day she was drinking it WITH foam..."

END Snark

I can see how the Starbucks testimony can be seen as LE shoring up the case and poking holes in her timeline...

However, to me it speaks of desperation. Really, doesn't her being at Starbucks give her LESS time to commit the crime?

Being in any kind of retail, you do get your "regulars", so you get to know faces and names. Perhaps this was a regular stop for her.

I am not staying up until 1am CST again tonight. But I will be around for the 1pm CST presser tomorrow!

Yes, God, please no more info releases on Oregon's 11pm news! I can't keep staying up to 1am every night, lol!

And how interesting. Is there anybody TH didn't talk to? Sheesh. Apparently she's as bad as Casey with being unable to shut her mouth for an extended period of time.

Remember LE said TH said she was one place, but bank records proved she was somewhere else. Maybe this was the somewhere else? Or this could have been the receipt from 9:12am. If it was, maybe the workers saw Kyron with her? Or DeDe? Or maybe she bought 2 drinks and was about to pick up DeDe?

Don't know what could have gone on, but I hope it leads to something?

Wow, all these people being called to GJ to recall something that happened so many weeks ago. Makes me hope I'm never called in as a witness. Do you think they still have video from that long ago? Or maybe LE got it a while ago. I'd think either that was her regular stop and there was something unusual or memorable about her that day, or there was video footage that spurred someone's memory. But wow, I doubt I could remember one customer from weeks ago.

I really think these people who are being called before the GJ have given previous statement to police, so they aren't recalling their information for the first time.

To me, more exciting is the fact that KOIN says Mrs Porter also testified today. Now, if they have known for awhile that she would be called in and testifying today, is this why the presser was scheduled for tomorrow? I have thought all along that Kyrons teacher holds a significant key to this, and I am anxious to hear what she says happened...

Respectfully snipped:

I waitressed/bartended for many years you get to know the regulars quite well.

So maybe TH and DDS or one or the other were regular customers? And with them both being redheads...kinda makes 'em stand out? Especially if both were regulars together?

Just throwin' it out there.

When we first moved to OR from CA some 20 years ago there was no Espresso here in So. OR. All of a sudden we see this sign one day at a gas station "CHAIN SAW OIL AND ESPRESSO HERE NOW"

I'm sorry but the images that came to mind from that were hilarious and LOBO, we said "Only in Oregon". (O/T Just thought I'd share a laugh.)

LNL is exactly right.

While this is the first time the Grand Jury has heard the testimony, it is surely not the first time the police have heard it. It is already on the record with them which is how the Prosecutor knows to call them in the first place.

Just good sleuthing on their part - shows that LE is covering all the bases and not taking Terri's word about her timeline (which is full of holes anyway). JMO

I'm thinking this is about her demeanor that day:

Was she really frantic to get that baby medicine, or just taking her time?
Did she bring the baby into the store with her?
Who else was with her at Starbucks, perhaps?
Did she say or do anything weird?
Did she make alot of PHONE CALLS there? :croc:

I am afraid to even look up what time the presser is tomorrow...I am so afraid I will be at work............ugh.

The presser is 1pm central, 2pm eastern. I was going to go to the beach, but that can wait.

Goatman - lol, twinkie defense....you always make me laugh. Snark away girl.

Quick question: Is FM like Target? If so, I can't walk in my local Target without getting a Starbucks. I don't even let myself park by the doors that are Starbuckless.

Using these employees to poke holes in the timeline Terri gave IMO. Maybe there are store cameras, if she used a credit card it would be time stamped. What did she purchase. One coffee, two, what types. Did she buy food for children like juice or milk. Did she go through the drive thru. What was she driving, was she alone. How was she acting. If someone was with her how was that person acting. What was she wearing. Did you notice any soiled clothing... Do you remember what she said? Her demeanor..

Oh exactly - there could be a wealth of information in that testimony!

I like your idea about soiled clothing. Any leaves in her hair?

Did she buy something that a little boy might like? :furious:

Does Starbucks there have internet service?
Could she of used any netbook, laptop?
Used it before there also?

Good look at truck? dirty? clean?

  • #1,233
I don't wanna go there......or here whatever....but I keep going back to the look alike thing of TH/DD.....I mean really at a distance could you tell them apart?

  • #1,234
It's possible that these employees went to LE the second they heard about Kyron

snipped: "The grand jury continued to hear testimony in the case Tuesday. Two women who work at a Starbucks Horman allegedly visited the morning Kyron disappeared are currently testifying. They have been doing do for more than two hours."

What could they know that would merit two hours (and more) of testimony?

Testifying MORE THAN TWO HOURS? Wow - I cannot imagine talking *only* about a coffee order for that long. What's going on here!!!!????

I think the GJ always intended to go thru today, when they said last week the room/floor had been blocked through Wednesday. So maybe they are done? Not sure who is left?

I think the latte, if Terri was alone, was for her to drink while she cruised the rural byways of Portland. The clerks may have been asked about her demeanor, was she frazzled, in a hurry, "normal", etc...did she tip...

Yes of course, they may have gone to LE. Duh! That's more likely what happened, especially if there was something "off" that day. Another thing is that LE might have asked for surveillance video as soon as they got the bank records, which would have been just a few days after the 4th. Ok, now I'm not so scared to be a GJ witness. Thanks LNL and Human!

What a great idea! I'm not a Starbucks fan, but my daughter goes there to study all the time and uses the internet on her laptop.

Good thoughts about the truck, too, if they saw it. Did she meet other people in the parking lot? Is the story about the store being "out of medicine" just a red herring?

  • #1,239
Also, I'm sure these employees were bombarded with TH's image in the days after Kyron went missing, which would trigger and cement their memories immediately.

BBM

Aren't all their customers frazzled and in a hurry when it comes to their coffee in the morning - I AM not "normal" until my coffee!! LOL
