2010.08.02 - DS's friends speak out.

So where did she forget her cellphone if she was home all day?

So saying that they care about poor Kyron, who is still missing, is nonsense?

To what purpose would it serve? I can't imagine the percentage of people who would hear it and classify such a statement as self-serving. Or a lie. Or anything else, except the truth.

I just went back to see what her lawyer said about her:

http://www.kgw.com/news/local/DeDe-...y-99252004-kyron-horman-missing-portland.html

However Spicher's attorney Chad Stavley said DeDe was gardening on the day Kyron disappeared and never left home.

"She's getting asked questions, she's getting treated frankly, like she's a suspect, when she's not," he said.

Stavley also told NBC Dateline Monday that Spicher had been, and planned to keep, cooperating with investigators. He said that she had already shared text messages and emails sent to and from Terri with detectives.

"I would be, frankly, surprised if Terri Horman did not eventually face charges in this case," Stavley said. "I'd be surprised if the indictment didn't come down."

Not saying I believe all of this mind you. ;)

Wait a dang minute. I was under the impression that DEDE was working not far from the school her coworkers called her for lunch and she was missing for 90 minutes. Which is true, she was gardening at home or working somewhere else? I thought she lived in a condo, is there a place to garden at a condo? Now I'm really confused

I am glad that the friends spoke out on Dede's character. I hope that they know her really really well. I hope that they are right about her character.

That gives me hope that Kyron is alive.

I think Terri is a person who doesn't do things on her own.

So maybe she convinced Dede that Kyron needed to be taken for his own safety from Kaine. But things got out of control and quite frankly, with all of the money spent and the man hours and the publicity, if they did stash him somewhere, how are they going to get out of this?

But where is Kyron stashed? Who would keep him under these circumstances? Unless they did fly him out of the country and someone is watching him say in Japan, where Dede worked at some point in her career.

But the money and planning involved in something like that makes no sense.

Plus, I thought Terr's parents were staying with her as well.

And then MC was involved as well. How many people are we talking about that Terri is able to involve in her life?

I'm guessing the lawyer misspoke or was misquoted, and it should say "never left THE home," which is the only way that statement could jibe with the other statement.

I don't see the friends on this video. Is there a different video that has the friends talking, or did the friends not talk on camera? I guess I'm confused.

Here's the YouTube Link:

She never left home . But yet she told the friends she was working. Whatever.

The way the reporter words his retelling of what her attorney says, I think he means that she was gardening, and never left the home at which she was gardening.

Yes, Baez is doing his own lion's share of messing up Casey's case, but I would call what he's doing is from inexperience and ego. Saying Dede and TH care about a missing boy is not comparable to that. I don't want their lawyers yammering on and on, I want their lawyers to make them seem more like compassionate and caring human beings, and not let the public think they don't care and are only worried about covering their own butts. I don't think that would be too much to ask for.

Let me be clear on my point - I actually agree with you. They are not doing themselves any favors by not talking to the public - but what we all need to keep in mind, is that they are being investigated for some heavy stuff. Like-go-to-jail-for-the-rest-of-your-life stuff. I am sure she is scared to death about her own lot in life right now. Doesn't mean she doesn't care about Kyron, but she is probably in self protection mode right now and if her lawyer says to keep quiet and not discuss things publically - then she is probably following his advice. Again, going back to Casey Anthony case - I am quite sure that all defense lawyers involved on this case, wish that Cindy would have kept her mouth shut, stop going on Larry King. Lawyers don't want you saying a word.

I'm confused as well. Which is it? Gardening at home, or working near the school? Also, I'd like to know if she "abruptly disappeared" in her truck, or on foot. Does anyone know? Even larger farms have some sort of parking area, so maybe the coworkers and/or the homeowner saw her leave in her truck, thereby assuming she had left the property. ?? There is so much we don't know about Dede and her 90 minutes.

The bolded bit doesn't really fly with me because if Terri really thought that Kyron was in some kind of danger living with Kaine why wouldn't she have wanted to get her daughter away from him as well? Why not move out with the baby weeks ago and apply for a RO against Kaine? If it was just a ruse to get DS's sympathy I think DS would have smelled a rat when she chose not to contest the RO giving him full custody of the child for the time being. If you're willing to kidnap your stepchild in order to keep him away from his dad you're going to fight tooth and nail to keep your biological child away from him as well. IMO.

On Seinfeld, George Costanza says "it's not lying if YOU believe it..." that just came to my mind, for some reason...

I think her lawyer is out of his field of expertise, and is making some big goofs. IMHO.

As for what kind of "cultivation" or non-cultivation was on the farm, we don't know. Many people use the term "farm" or "ranch" just for a place in the country. I called my country place a "ranch".

And country homes can vary. You can have cultivated area, gardens, area left au naturel, specific-use areas, etc. For example on my place I had a beautiful rose garden, dog kennel and exercise area, two big pastures and a small horse stable in one, and then acreage left untouched to provide a home for the foxes and other wildlife there. There were stands of small pine trees. Some wide open land, especially that for grazing.

And it wasn't even close to being 40 acres. But someone could disappear if working in a certain area. In fact, when I had people working on fencing or something in the "back pasture" I didn't know when they left, unless I specifically looked for their truck.

When I first read that the homeowner "called" her for lunch, as someone raised in the country, I assumed she'd stuck her head outside and yelled for her. Only now am I realizing that she meant "called on the phone."

Well, if she called on the cell phone, then that means that DD was working away from the main house (most likely), somewhere that a cell phone was needed to talk to her vs. "yoooo hoooo."

Until I know more about the farm, I'm not speculating on everything on those 40 acres, what it looked like, where she was working, and on what. There are so many things and even outbuildings that can make up the use of 40 acres.

ETA: My apologies, based on discussion in this thread & others I wrongly assumed that the work site had been confirmed as a farm.

I kind of agree with you here. I understand what a lawyer's job is. Doesn't mean I like the no talking part. And if they are guilty, they should have thought about being in a jail cell for their rest of their lives before committing a crime, not afterward in coverup mode. If they're innocent, then they won't go into a jail cell for the rest of their lives, so there should be nothing to worry about. Neither seems to have a record before this, only a DUI for TH. That doesn't equal murder. I can see them being scared about it, but to not talk and fully cooperate only gets them closer to that cell, not further away from it. It just doesn't seem smart to me the way they are handling this, even if their lawyers told them to handle it this way. They're not going to be happy if their lawyers handle them all the way into a jail cell, I would imagine.

There was at least one article that sort of made it sound like they did both.

If you look at how the article is worded, it does look like one person called verbally, e.g., out the window or whatever, and another different person called on the cell phone.

ETA:

Detectives learned that Spicher, who shares Terri Horman's passion for fitness and gardening, was doing gardening work for a Northwest Portland homeowner on June 4. She abruptly left the house about 11:30 a.m. and didn't return until an hour to 90 minutes later.

Another person working at the home called Spicher to come in for lunch, and the homeowner called Spicher on her cell phone but she wasn't reachable. Detectives have questioned both the homeowner and the other person who was working at the home that day.

THE FARM IS A RUMOR........... DO NOT DISCUSS FARM UNLESS WE HAVE A LINK. This thread will close if the rumors continue.

Find a link.....everything we have seen in MSM says friend's house.

This is how serious mis-information gets passed and passed and passed. It is how rumors continue to walk and grow. One anonymous post in a newspaper does not make it so. Please understand the dangers of following rumors.

What matters to me is that they haven't talked about anyone except themselves and their alibis. Haven't seen a word anywhere from DeDe about Kyron Horman.

I think they both have been instructed to keep quiet, in fact, it was probably first Terri and she passed it on to DD. IMO, this silence goes a long way to show that the MFH plot is valid (it may not have gotten very far, but it was in a stage that convinced LE that it was serious). TH & DD know enough to realize that they are in big trouble just because of that. TH's behavior during the pressers said to me that she was worried about Kyron, felt bad for Desiree, but also knew that she had said some very incriminating things to people that she might have known all that well. Just think about what conclusions we are coming to.

And to add to all the confusion, there was an article that stated she was working on June 4th for the person who owned the house or condo that she (DeDe) lived in...So was she working at the condo since her attorney has stated she never left home that day or was she working on her landlord's property since it has been stated DeDe was working in an area close to the Horman residence...My understanding is DeDe's condo is not located close to where the Horman's residence is located..JMO...
