2010.08.30 NeJame Calls Baez 'Liar'

  • #41
I'm a bit confused about something....

Is this only being reported by WESH? Were none of the other media outlets there?

I ask because it is pretty obvious that WESH is the most pro-defense media outlet in Orlando. The defense is always giving them scoops.
If so, then I smell a set-up. I understand why Nejame said what he said, but I wish he could have done it where it wouldn't have been reported & spun by pro-defense WESH.

I swear....everytime Baez & Mason get into a p*ssing match with anyone - Nejame, the SA, Judge Perry, Conway, Lazzaro's attorney, etc - I feel the need to take a hot shower.

eta: I really don't understand why the media was at this meeting between Nejame, the defense and the magistrate. How would the media even know this conference was taking place unless the defense or Nejame tipped them off? And I am pretty darn sure it wasn't MN who called and invited them.

Mason announced the meeting with the Magistrate at the end of the hearing, like a little kid trying show a teacher they are doing the right thing. It was sickening, if you ask me. If you watch a repeat of the hearing, it is at the very end.

Edited after I read everyone elses comments.....sorry, I came in late on this, and it has already been answered. Mason gets on my nerves as much as Baez, maybe even more.
These two are like bookends.....

I wish MN's comment had been caught on video. I can so picture MN saying, "I believe your partner is not only a liar but incompetent. I'm going to say this in light of what he said to me -- he made up complete and total fabrications," with an air of authority and superiority ~ not down and dirty, red faced and yelling. I can totally see him stating it as a fact. . . and it is. JB is a liar.

It is a real shame that we only have the printed words to interpert because the reduction of statements like this into black and white can be easily misrepresented or misinterperted. (Hasn't that even happened to some of us here on this forum?)

Exactly! I totally agree with your whole post, EU. The portion I bolded is what really bugs me. All we have is a WESH reporter's impression of what happened.

And if it was okay for the media to be there, then why don't we have a video?

Maybe I misinterpreted, but when JB & CM gave their presser after the 'come to meet Jesus' conference that Judge Perry summoned, I got the distinct impression that the details concerning the TES doc review (when & where) were to be kept discreet. I just see no reason the public needed to know any of that. In fact, we STILL don't have any of that info (and don't need it, imo). So all we really got out of it this reporter's biased statement. WHY?

Mason and Baden are both DP qualified

Thank you. I thought Baden quit, but it was Andrea Lyons.

It's tough staying on this attorney merry-go-round ;)

Yes, Mel. He has Cheney Mason who was going to retire, but took this case because it would be "fun" ...... remember?

Who me? Remember? Don't we come on this forum and find yet another attorney has jumped ship. Egads.

So he has 2 qualified death penalty experts now. Wow!

Thanks!

According to the WESH article, Mr. NeJame made the comment after Baez said again that NeJame is only representing Equusearch for media coverage. I'm sure Mr. NeJame has just reached the end of his patience with the antics of Baez.

Although I think Baez is an immature, unprofessional person, I'm curious what bar complaint NeJame could make. I must be missing something because I'm just not seeing it. Help me out.

Exactly. WTH. First of all the irony is rich and all that...secondly, how second grade can JB be?? What is the point of saying THAT during a hearing. As one who is currently dealing with an ex-husband who is an attorney and has spent the last year acting like JB toward me, lying stonewalling, trying to get full-time custody after I have had it for 11 years just so he can get instead of pay child support (but I digress...sort of) I can completely understand MN having had it and wanting to get his say in. And he just said what most people think.

ETA: Oh, see you got the answer. It is interesting that WESH is the only media reporting on this.

It was scheduled and entered on the clerk's docket to begin right after the hearing on Monday. I don't think it was a secret. Maybe WESH was the only media who thought it was worth attending?

I'm probably in the minority here but, I'm a bit
disappointed that MN has sunk to the level of
name calling in public. He must have seen that the
media was still there and I think he could have been
more discreet with his comments to Mason.

I agree.
It was also so unprofessional for him to say derogatory things about the Anthonys after leaving them. Not to mention TO the Anthonys themselves. I was shocked at the insensitive things he said to Cindy Anthony in that letter that was released, what lawyer would do that, especially to a grieving person. He should have just taken the high road.
Also very strange for him to represent TES after first representing the Anthonys, imo.
If he had a real complaint about JB there would be appropriate channels for it, this isn't the way. Maybe he should take some R&R. And it would be totally understandable, the stress of the media pressure etc in this case must be considerable.

good description, mgardner. LOL That could become one of our new catchphrases. :) (the attorney-go-round)

I see CA pasted the "grieving" portion and more on the "anger" portion of the grieving stages. She was very nasty in the Morgan deposition and disrespectful. Grieve does not give you the right to lash out at everyone else and blame them for your problems. Whatever CA says will surely come back to haunt her. They have lost two excellent attorney because of CA. She can blame NO ONE ELSE but herself. MN is well-respected. CA feels entitled to say whatever she wants because she is not paying for the advice. Maybe the attorneys need to take a lesson from this. jmo

I've just been waiting for someone to put this smirking little creep in his place. It's probably a good thing that I live so far from Florida and can't get to the courthouse for Anthony hearings or the trial. I just want to slap that smirk right off of Baez's face. While the female Pros spoke to the judge today
that pukey little creep kept shaking his head while he smirked and smirked. I really believe that he thinks he is something special. By the end of the trial "you will all respect me" he said. Is he kidding or trying to be funny. We will probably want to line up and spit in his face by the time the trial ends.
NeJame is representing Tim Miller and Co. just for the media hipe????? There is no one that likes the media more than Jose Baez. He wouldn't have taken this case if he didn't think it would be good for his career. He is such a hipocrite.

BRAVO !!!!! You put my feelings into words.. I can't stand even looking at his smirking ,snarky face. I wish the Judge would smack him up side the head for his stupid head shaking smirks.. it's really getting old..

You're right, QB. I saw a scheduling conference on the docket, I just didn't have any idea it had anything to do with the TES doc review. It wasn't until I heard Judge Perry and CM mention a magistrate toward the end of the status hearing that it made sense to me.

I think it should have been private. :snooty:

What 'news' did we get out of it? Just this gossip? kwim?

Our local news is showing video of the conference this morning and it includes audio. But it doesn't look like the audio is matching up with the video.

With all due respect, Seagull....how much can a person take? MN has an impeccable reputation that CA was smearing. He was very nice to her, never said anything derrogatory, until he had the answer that nonsencial ranting email. How could he not? She told outright lies about how he got BC to convince them to sign that conflict of interest waiver, basically calling it a conspiracy. He was only responding to her outrageous lies. She purposely bypassed BC which is why MN sent it to BC, who when saw those words, no doubt had a pow wow with CA and resigned. MN when representing the Anthony's was always trying to calm the storm. He gave many excuses to CA's abhorrant behaviors/words she spewed! He knew and does know now, who is responsible for Caylee's demise but these people have no problems implicating innocent people and he can't stand by and allow it to happen.

Seems Baez wants to be able to talk smack but no one should say a word to him???

Baez wants the media away from reporting on his client, yet, he tips them off???

I would love to see a bar complaint filed on Baez for his outrageous lies and maybe taken off this case and replaced. This way there is no room for appellate appeals or ICA has an incompetant attorney appeal...JMHO

OT: As I was watching TruTV, across the banner at the bottom of the screen I noticed, ICA paid or will be paying $111,954? Does anyone know what that's about???

Unprofessional and insensitive?

I thought he was beyond compassionate to invite Brad Conway over to review the TES docs (all 4,000+!), out of respect for the Anthonys as Caylee's grandparents. He had no obligation at all to do that, it was simply a respectful and compassionate gesture. That was exactly what created this whole stink with JB and he used it to support his argument in his pleadings. He was raising heck because MN allowed BC to review them and he was "not a party to this case".

I used to be concerned for Cindy. Not so much anymore. She has proved to me she is not that fragile.

I've checked around to see if any other media is reporting they were at this conference. WFTV has video of JB after the conference and his reaction to being called incompetent , etc. But they don't actually report that they were at the conference.
http://www.wftv.com/video/24817649/index.html

I'm also wondering if JP was at this conference. On the court docket for this his name is listed so one would assume he was. I wonder what his reaction was to this little back and forth with defense and MN.

MN stuck his neck out

I totally agree, Beach...CA can hold her own. She has proved that over and over. This is NOT a greiving grandmother, anymore. I do believe that ship sailed long ago. She is crass, insenstive to anyone who speaks out against ICA and perpetuates ICA's lies. Her actions don't appear to be wanting justice for Caylee when she views ICA the victim...JMHO

MN did not have to allow BC to view any records from TES at all. He opened it up to prove who is responsible for Caylee's demise. He was kind to do that but as you see with CA, kindness holds no water with her. She misconstrued his intentions and made it all about the alleged conspiracy surrounding ICA and her family...JMHO

Does anyone know if the motion re removing ICA's shackles has been heard? It's been way over 2 weeks. Sorry for OT but this is OT to all the active threads right now lol! Tks

Hi kaRN :)

I don't think there will be any formal hearing about it. Not sure it will even be addressed in any Order. The impression I got was that HHJP will probably allow her to have the leg shackles removed when she enters the courtroom and put back on before she crosses the threshold to exit.

BBM-I'll agree with you and raise you a dollar-I don't think, even after CA's behavior, that MN has said anything "derogatory" to this day. In other words, I would not classify defending his own reputation as derogatory.
I would not classify being truthful as derogatory. Derogatory would have been if MN referred to CA as "DC's mistress," or GA as the "PC 🤬🤬🤬🤬 King." MN did not give his opinion of the Anthony's, he gave his opinion of their behavior.

I would, however, classify CA's reference to John Morgan as a drunken slug as derogatory.

There was a scheduling conference after the status hearing, apparently WESH was the only station to stay for it. It was on the docket.

ETA: snipped from: http://blogs.orlandosentinel.com/en...ks-to-schedule-wins-raves.html/comment-page-2

WESH-Ch. 2’s Bob Kealing reported on a later hearing and the animosity that surfaced between the Anthony defense team and Texas EquuSearch attorney Mark NeJame. A magistrate scheduled Oct. 4 and 5 for the defense to review Texas EquuSearch records. Texas EquuSearch searched for Caylee Anthony.

Baez said that NeJame is seeking publicity through the case. In turn, NeJame gave defense attorney Cheney Mason a withering review of Baez. “I believe your partner is not only a liar but incompetent,” NeJame told Mason. “He made complete, total fabrications.”
