I thought she owned up to it. I think she feels terrible for what she did to Amy. It was sincere and it came off that way to me and I am sure many others. Moo

She owned up to something.....but fell short of uttering the words "I stole money and was wrong". Her words were planned for a specific purpose. If anyone detected a degree of truthfulness or remorse.......they are welcome to their interpretation as am I. I base my opinion on recorded behaviors exhibited by the defendant thus far. I have no personal relationship with her by which to measure her true intent, nor do I have a desire to sway public opinion. IMO....it is what it is....and to others...what it is may be interpreted differently.

Restating myself from other thread: my vote: insincere. To name only one reason, it's the wording: I WANT EVERYONE TO KNOW that I'm sorry. Not, "I'm sorry." She's not sorry, she just wants every to "know" (believe) that she is.

Baez was throwing alot of BS out there during his "interview". I told hubby as we watched it that I would love to be able to call in and ask Baez some questions. Of course Baez wasn't going to go for caller questions during his time on the show.

As far as Casey wanting to plead from the very beginning, again alot of BS. Baez and Co would NOT have filed motions for change of venue for the check fraud charges if it had always been Casey's desire to plead guilty. Apparently Baez is still under the wrong impression that they can snowball the public.

Baez lied during his interview (big surprise) and made a very big mistake in his comments about people that use their inteligence would agree with him and his defendant. Judge Strickland felt that the SA had a solid case against Casey so in Baez's eyes according to Baez's words, Baez feels that Judge Strickland was being unfair to Casey and not using his brain. Stupid idea there Baez as this is the Judge that you will be facing in the murder trial.

I guess that this "interview" can be chalked up with all of the others made by the defense when the change of venue is heard for the murder trial. What morons.

ETA: One other thought, the defense attorney "expert" on the show made my skin crawl and had me pausing the tv to yell at her. For her to state that Casey was distraught during those 31 days made me mad. Not sure how she could say that with a straight face and how the others could hear that and not die from laughter. We have numerous pictures of Casey during those 31 days and I have yet to see a single one that shows a distraught Casey Anthony. A drunk Casey, yes. A slutty Casey, yes. A happy go lucky Casey, yes. A distraught Casey, NO.

flourish, I couldn't agree with you more on her phrasing. When you apologize to someone, even in a public setting, you don't say "I want you to know I'm sorry." You say, "I AM SORRY." Countless politicians have learned this from their PR handlers. You don't "want everyone to know you're sorry for {having sex with that woman who happens to not be your wife, disappearing to Argentina and making your staff say you were on a hike, embezzling those funds, etc. etc...}--YOU ARE SORRY. DANGED sorry. And you're ashamed of yourself.

(Sorry to yell there. I just want you all to know that I feel strongly about this.)

For a moment there I thought we might get some actual tears. Then came the ubiquitous finger-poking-and-checking, and *poof* went all my hopes.

Can't wait to hear how the professional body-language and vocal-inflection folks parse this latest performance (though they may well be reading here to make sure they don't miss anything!). IMO, IMO, IMO.

I almost fell for the apology. She became a tad emotional at the right time. When it was over, she was all smiles and I saw her breath a sigh of relief. Any sign of remorse all gone. Then I remembered that when AH was getting ready to go to PR, she couldn't find her cash. She shared this with KC and KC lied through her teeth while at the same time acted concerned. All the while, KC had taken the money. She successfully endured an innocent confrontation without batting an eyelash. Keep these things in mind. I went back and watched her apology once more and it seemed fake to me the second time around.

Casey is a sociopath who tried to put on a good act today. That's all that little speech was - an act. Some may believe her, but she's not one bit sorry that she stole or hurt Amy. She's only sorry that she got caught! And well...she can't exactly say that in court! She had to put on an act and follow the script Baez and Co. gave her. I'm sure she's been practicing her acting skills every day in her little jail cell. She's got nothing else to do!

JB twists the truth the same way the A's do. He looks squarely in the face of the evidence and tells us that we see really isn't there. He's got the defense version of events that he vomits forth on behalf of his guilty client. Notice how he always evades the question of KC's behavior during the 31 days. He has yet to answer that question, at least that I recall. That's because there is no defense and he knows it. He can't just explain it away.

JB still smug I noticed on a side note the Haleigh Cummings case I just loved Judge Sidling we call him Judge Fonzi here cause he looks like the fonz but anyway Casey won't take the stand so the felony conviction is probably a non issue

I didn't watch JB on JVM yet, but will stay up until the wee hours to see the repeat.
All I can say, is that if his discussion with Jane is similar to his court appearance today, I will wake my husband up with my screaming. That man was completely annoying!
I'm not sure if it was the stuttering and stammering, the weaving to and from the podium or the way he phrased his thoughts; I just kept going: WTH is he talking about?
He said the same thing 3 times, the same way, separated by drivel, that went on and on.
I get the feeling he is taking as many opportunities for the spotlight as he can get now, because if I was KC, I wouldn't want him baffling a jury with his bs during the murder trial.

KC and her self motivated sobbing didn't move me at all.

JB evades the truth, and uses blaming and whining to divert attention . Casey's not popular! Since when do we, the Public, have to like the criminal. She's very unlikeable just like Jose is. Oh well.

JB makes me so mad! She always wanted to plead guilty my eye! If that were the case she would have pled guilty the first time!!!! He sounds just like when he said that when they were leaving jail she said "I just want to hold my head up". He bungled his way through court and was seeething the whole time.

I was thinking the exact same thing! He sounded just like CMA senior yesterday!! How do these people find each other? Or do they start taking on each other's characteristics?

I thought the same thing. Why drag it out if she wanted to plead from the beginning? Why was a written plea of not guilty filed on 10/10/08? Why file a motion for change of venue on 5/04/09 and again on 10/12/09? Why file a motion for a jury questionnaire on 10/12/09?

These two (JB and CA) are two peas in a pod when it comes to their lies! :banghead:

If KC were sorry, she would have stopped the first time she stole someone's money-- and not continued to steal from her parents , her brother , her grandparents and whomever else she could.

She's ashamed of what she did to Amy, put has no problems about not reporting her daughter missing ????

I doubt that Casey is ashamed of anything she has ever done. She really put it on in court but it was all for show. She was expected to say what she did according to attorneys on the evening shows. I couldn't believe that there were some on the show who were taken in by her boo hoo act. While she was standing there she should have listed everyone else she has stole money from including her grandparents. I think she did just what her attorneys told her to do. Try to get on the good side of the judge.

She really looked homely today with her hair pulled back like that and hanging over one shoulder...Lord help us. I'm glad that she is a felon now. I think she thought she would just get time served. Not that her attorney didn't try to really lay it on the judge....she's unpopular....REALLY???????

IMO,
Baez and crew's media tours=

NO CHANGE OF VENUE

I mean give me a break. Why should she be granted change of venue when its her attorney and family trying to make a circus right now.

And JVM tries to sneak in nice things to Jose, which is annoying.

:waitasec: I think the owners of Google would disagree about JB's take on KC's popularity. I bet she's one of the most popular females searched for.
If she's worried about being unpopular in protective custody then she's got a rude awakening coming if she ever makes it to GP.
What does JB want from us. KC has her DP angel which is more consideration than she gave Caylee.

Casey Anthony says she wishes she had been a better friend, she meant she wishes Amy had been a better friend, and not reported her.

I wouldn't be surprised if she was upset with Amy at first for reporting it to LE.

Casey is sorry...she is now. Too bad she wasn't feeling sorry and wished she was a better friend at the time she was betraying Amy by stealing her money.
