So far we know JB and AF have asked for travel and lodging expenses for her, which the JAC has objected to and I suspect she won't get.

They have also asked for psychiatrist fees of $7500, for the penalty phase, which JAC has asked for paper outlining specifics.

They have also asked for an additional 100 hours for the mitigation specialist - which to me seems like they have far beyond reasonable boundaries.

And they have asked for an additional max $5000 for a PI for the penalty phase. ( So we know we won't be seeing this spent on more TES nonsense)So that is what - 125 more hours?

Have we seen any response from the Defense camp rebutting the JAC's critique? Sorry I don't seem to be "all here" lately and keep slipping on info.

I really can't see Finnell getting the JAC to fund her travel and lodging, but who knows what kind of a boohoo Baez can come up with.

"Update to the murder case docket

10-27-2010 Notice of Provision of Supplemental Discovery
10-27-2010 Motion to Intervene
for Limited Purpose of Opposing Defendant's Motion for Reconsideration"

Would this Motion to Intervene be from the State or the JAC?:waitasec:

I voted NO more $ . They had all the time they needed but went thru all the money and now this, begging for more. They do need an investigation of where all the money went. Something is very wrong there.

IIRC, the motion asked that they be allowed to appear by phone. Sorry.

They probably don't have enough money left to send someone after Baez hosed them the first time.

Where does the JAC Attorney have to come from? Tallahassee?

LOL - I think this is what they are trying to teach Baez to be - Prudent with the Taxpayer's money (and he isn't important enough for them to make the trip in person).

None of them are tha Special period!

OT but while I am thinking about the teleconference call- there is a live Police Presser at 4.30pm on WRAL TV regarding Zahra Baker..

Love this thread! Great points and funny!

I think the final decision will be with JAC though, won't it?
It will be revealing to see whether HHJP means what he says.

I think the final decision lies with Judge Perry. I know JAC has a representative present (either in person or via bad phone connection) and they often argue opposing the defense requests.

Feeling a tad cynical today so I went thread diving because I recalled [ame="http://www.websleuths.com/forums/showpost.php?p=5087183&postcount=361"]this post [/ame]by Richard Hornsby right after Judge Strickland recused himself. I needed something to give me hope.

More importantly, Judge Perry is the legislative liaison for the ninth circuit. So you can assure yourself that that the purse strings for the defense budgeting conference will be pulled tight.

I voted he will get some money but not the whole enchilada. I have no clue though. Just a wild hunch.

I agree with Marspiter. Depends on when that branch on the old oak will finally crack. Will it be Friday...?

Yes, he'll have to submit a review IMO....did someone send him that new box of crayola? A virtual gift perhaps? They've had PI's on this case for over 2 years, if anything earth shattering was going to be uncovered it would have been in the very early days. I can't imagine he will be able to simply go on this endless search for evidence which doesn't exist at the taxpayers expense without full accountability. Seems to suggest doesn't it that as the trial date looms the defense is still hopelessly flailing, and without strategy? At this stage one would hope they would be focussing on how to use what they have, not still looking for something to use.

Mrs. Norris, are you sitting down? In one hearing Baez told the judge that the defense was going to need extra time and investigation hours because they would need to interview each and every one of the nutty (my word) letter writers who sent mail to Casey. Can you imagine him worrying over troubled folks who wrote nonsense, yet two years into the case is just now completing the depo of the lead detective?

You just can't make this stuff up!!!

GOOD point. Are we not a little past the "investigation" stage by now? If it were anyone else, the trial and sentence would have been handed out a year ago. They've exhausted EVERY exploitation they can come up with from the Grunds to Kronk and even George...There's about 6 months to go, I think they may want to start devising a defense or an alibi if they have one!!

I hope HHJP denies the request. IMO the "investigators" have done enough damage already. The 300 hours has been squandered on harrassing witnesses and chasing rabbits with pocketwatches instead of actually learning new factual information. And doesn't JB have any paralegals, associates, etc. who can interview witnesses? It doesn't take any special training to find out if someone saw water--unless, of course, you're trying to pressure them to change their answer.

Depends on your point of view. :innocent:

Option 1. If you got something rock solid then you are done and good to go.

Option 2. If you got nothing then maybe you need to investigate and investigate and investigate until you can find something.

The quandry is that the Defense have got nothing and are still looking for that compelling story for trial that all makes sense. :waitasec:

Surprising they weren't asking for investigators and psychologists for those people as well. I've never seen such an unfocused attorney or defense in my life. Does he even have a strategy??

I forgot about that. Interesting timing - they have one abusive dishonest PI accused of witness tampering - next week they want 12k for more investigations. Wow.

I have to quote myself to insert a correction here - and I hope someone else in the thread has already corrected me - because in addition to the above, Baez and Mason are asking for an additional 300 hours because in their words, they (the hours) are all used up.

Well, I say "cry me a river"

I think this is more slippage and assumption on my part :blushing: - it looks by the latest news clips this is the Sentinel responding to Baez request to seal the commissary, telephone et al record. The article also stated the Orange County Jail also responded with a "just say no" kind of motion.:croc:

Or maybe they figure they now have to hire another PI to harrass people since the other one got busted.
