Baez added Mail into the Motion today as he spoke...not even in the written Motion

I swear...I think sometimes he's taking orders from missy. Like..."Oh, yeah...I don't want them to see my mail either!!"

Finnell seemed more accommodating to the judge than Frick and Frack however - more willing to compromise, even though she did interrupt HHJP.

I thought her behavior was pretty bold... trying to speak over HHJP....

I also thought she was sucking up to him.... just the impression I got.

I wasn't able to get back on here until after the hearing, but is anyone else feeling as disappointed as I am?

I'm always a tad disappointed when the Judge gives the Defense anything, but I have to trust HHJP that he knows best.
I am hugely reassured each time I see the Defense Buffoons in action though, I am sure KC will get the DP with this crew in charge. Even the new Attorney came unprepared to answer questions as to specifics- when she said "Well I'm new so I don't know what has gone on" I cringed- wouldn't you think that the first thing you'd do after signing on is to read every piece of information on this case?

Specifically how HHJP dropped the fishing expedition with the TES, I was truly shocked the State said nothing. They had their opening to stop the nonsense.

There was one moment about half way through that Casey was upset about something and nearly lost it, Baez asked her if she was okay and she shook her head yes. I can't remember what was being discussed will have to catch it on a rerun.

LDB was a WARRIOR - for truth and to try and attempt to put a stop to unscrupulous behaviour - or just flat out lying by the defense.

Jeff Aston cracked a joke (the little sweetie) that he liked working with LKB and came off all calm and composed.

At one point I thought Baez was going to chew the side of his face off - I was transfixed, I have never ever seen him like this - I think he knew he was up to his armpits in some deep poo poo.

Mason better take the marbles out of his mouth come the trial or the jurists are just going to switch off.

All in all a humdinger of a hearing!

HHJP soon put her in her place though- when she recited all the mitigating factors, he commented that he'd done a couple of capital cases before so she didn't need to spell it out for him. That shut her up.

HHJP granted 60 more investigative hours to the defense.

HHJP denied travel expenses for Ms. Finnell

HHJP granted Ms. Finnell some investigative hours for mitigation (penalty phase), but there were stipulations and all kind of talk about the work and hours already granted for the previous mitigation expert (Andrea's cohort...name escapes me).

Did ANYTHING at all come up in re. rescheduling (extending the deadline) the Grunds' depos???

Personally, from the little bit I saw from the new "lady" lawyer.....she is is a different class that the other two clowns on the DT. But.....it's too late. She can't help this ship from sinking.

I just loved the way HHJP skewered Baez so many times - when Baez whined that TES information was not accessible HHJP was all over him and pointed out in detail how all the records were made available.... then when they were asking for more Mitigation investigation, Finnell implied that Ms Barrett being in Chicago was not very convenient for them, and they really needed an extra investigator for when she was not around- HHJP came down hard again, said Mr Baez had insisted they keep Ms Barrett as it would be disruptive to the defense to have to hire another one and get up to speed with the case.
Time after he time he pointed out to Baez what his previous motions had asked for... he has a good memory and sounds like he is running out of patience with the idiocy.

Nothing about the Grund depos, other than the deadlines are the deadlines
