I think it was reported in MSM as a bone, and specifically that it was not a fragment but a bone. I am almost sure of it. I have no idea why NG's banner said that. IMO it is an inaccuracy.

While NG can drive me bananas at times..she is one of the very few commentators that keeps the spotlight on the 'missing/murdered' and for that I am very grateful to her..however for anyone that follows these cases as we do..we know that NG is NOT known for complete accuracy in reporting..just sayin..

This is what I was thinking at first as well. I thought is was odd that the word 'fragment' was written though, because of the extra detail (which could be incorrect, of course). Since the space in the screen banner is limited, I figured this detail must be true. NG mentioned 'bone' so often and never the term 'fragment' that I noticed it right away while watching the show. I'm hoping it's a mistake too since I would have to wonder the reasons for the bone being a fragment.

It could also mean the bone was sectioned to get to the marrow for DNA and would then be a fragment of the original bone. JMO

We will await the positive identification of the remains found before changing the title and moving this thread to "LOCATED" forum.

Rest in Peace sweet Zahra.

Closest I can come is this:

A police source also told WBTV's Steve Ohnesorge that "the bone has evidence of cut marks on it."

From: http://www.wbtv.com/Global/story.asp?S=13465050

here ya go Matou

when searching for the link I found that several MSM (CNN ABC etc,) have reported the bone as a fragment. However, they do not list any source of this info in their reporting.

Therefore, I am linking the story from local affiliate WBTV here:

http://www.wbtv.com/Global/story.asp?S=13297637

snipped: Investigators say that the bone is not a small piece and is not a chip of a bone, but seems to be a complete bone. Meanwhile, that bone was sent to the NC State Bureau of Investigation lab where tests began Friday.

NOTE this story cites investigators as being the source of the info. I tend to put my faith in this one as they are onscene, have developed more of a relationship with local LE, etc.

They are not planning any more searches. I think they have either found all of her or believe they have found as much of her that they possibly can.

bolded by me...

I know this keeps going around and around in my head, but this statement the police made about "finding enough evidence to make them believe it is Z, makes me feel..and no more searches....that they have found..."shreads" of her...and not a complete body/skeleton/all her bones accounted for...just (so sorry) .."bits and pieces" of her....

The fact they are not doing anymore searching...I feel....They have found where her "remains"....was hidden/buried...and possibly...was contained in a garbage bag...To transport a body...in a vehicle...that has been...(sorry let me "politely" say..."reduced to fragments")...one would have to use a container/bag/box...to keep the remains together without "spilling out" all over the trunk/car/ whatever is transporting her to be buried...and once at the "burial site" the bag, box, whatever was used to contain her...was ..IMO...most likely...buried along with her....to get rid to it.....

Another senerio would just be to ...at the burial site...to just "pour everything out of the bag/box/container...into the hole...and then throw the box/bag/container...on top of it all and cover it all up.....

I believe one of these senerios was the way/condition they found her....

It would be hard to tell ....(if she was found....in fragments)....IF they had retrieved...ALL OF HER....due to dirt, leaves, wood chips, etc....mixed in with her.....And because the police are sort of saying that statement...this makes me think...that this is the condition in which they retrieved her from the hole......and they hope they got...ALL OF HER...(OH so very very sad...)

I apologize for this horrific senerio and do not wish to upset anyone...

This is my own personal opinion...of what the police found..and what THESE MONSTERS had done to this precious little "cancer survivor" and little angel.

Aside from the fact that Zahra was killed, I think the worst part about all of this is that from the get go, everyone knew (IMO) the parents were involved and yet it took until nearly mid-November for Zahra's remains to be located and identified.

AB has clearly not been cooperative and his initial appeal to find his daughter was so incredibly insincere and filled with crocodile tears that the poor Policeman standing next to him must have realised or already known how bogus it was.

Killing someone is one thing. Killing a loved on is another. Delaying and hindering the search/identification process is worse still.

I hope they eventually realise all this will be used against them in their trials.

Fortunately, they say they found a full bone at the Christie Rd search site. So that leads me to believe that the rest was not shredded.

I'm hoping that the most done to Zahra's body was removal of the legs (like I've read about in other cases), or of the one leg that identified her so easily.

Perhaps they found only one leg bone at Christie and wished they could have found the rest of the leg (where was her amputation?) or legs.

I think there may still be hope that she was mostly intact.

They still have never said what they found at the creek, have they? May the remains tell everything!!

Hey all,

I've been out of town at a convention since Thursday, 11/11, so I was unable to keep up with Zahra's case.

However, after arriving in my hotel room Thursday, I turned on HLN and heard that they had found remains. This was SO relieving. Devastating, but such a relief. They are 1 step closer to charging Elisa and arresting Adam. We knew Zahra was deceased, but without a body, it could be difficult to prosecute the killers, and there is no closure for Zahra's loved ones.

LE did such a great job. I hope they can continue to gather enough evidence to nail Adam and Elisa to a gurney.

Rest in Peace Zahra. Keep lighting the way home. Keep showing LE the way.

I didn't see the presser. I just wanted to thank all of you who posted updates on it.

I was wondering about the area where the remains were found near the creek. With the road blocked off by the dirt piles, is it normal to see a car sitting there for a long time? Why wouldn't it have been noticed/reported unless fishermen do that when they want to fish in the creek?

I don't know if the area is very rocky, but I would think it would be hard for AB/EB to dig a hole under trees because of the roots and would take some time. Was the smaller hole dug deeper simply because it was away from the tree roots? Could the hole have been dug earlier before disposing of Zehra?

Maybe they couldn't fit all of her there so they disposed of the other bone and prosthesis later at the Christy Road site? I would hate to think that other parts may have also been scattered elsewhere.

RIP Zahra.

Does anyone (hopefully a local who went out there) have coordinates to the "hole" that was dug alongside Gunpowder Creek? TIA

I think it is possible that taking Zahra apart (sorry can't use the d word today) was more difficult than the idiot - gothfairy had counted on. She couldn't wait a few days (think white pontiac) so she got rid of what she had done at the first site (prothesis, leg bone) and the rest were left at the creek/near by hole.

I question the bone above the amputation (it was above the knee) and if it would have completely healed, with medical cut marks no longer visible to the naked eye -

Let's hope and pray that laziness got the best of her and Zahra was found mostly contained - LE looking for a box or bag was a good sign IMO.

RIP Valiant Zahra - Your Strength, Bravery and BEAUTIFUL Freckled SMILE have touched my very soul.

BBM.

And now we have the defense team allegedly retrieving a "significant item of evidence" before notifying LE about it. This is being discussed on another thread.

I want to see some people charged here, and soon!

There are so many great speculations going on here..some ring true to myself but some dont. I for one just cant fathom how daddy wouldnt know his child was missing?? I have to believe that fire went down after they "Dumped" things...so yepper..I have to agree these two were partners of this crime...It's always what goes on AFTER that sheds light on what really happened..

They can spin all they want..but and thats a big BUT..IF Zahra was found deceased, WHY NOT call 911 then?..why dismember her?, why dump her remains?, why bury her?, why dump mattress?? Why have a FIRE?? why create such drama?? Point is..THEY WERE HIDING SOMETHING!! and Yepper....They BOTH are equally culpible..I do hope and pray LE can connect all the dots!! These two people NEED to be held accountable for Zahra!!!!!

In answer to your great questions, I'd like to give my theory of what transpired. MOO, is that after arriving in the US AB, over time, became aware of EB's abuse of Zahra. For reasons I can't fathom he allowed it to go on. Additionally, I believe (forgive me for saying it) that AB engaged in and/or permitted sexual abuse of Zahra. With their frequent fighting (according to neighbors / family) and her abuse of the child, I can see EB turning him away from her bed and pointing him in Zahra's direction.

I don't believe Zahra was otherwise well-cared for either. IIRC (and please correct me if I'm wrong) a family member or friend stated rather early on that Zahra remained in her room most of the time except for the 10 or so minutes she was permitted to come out to eat.

Zahra became ill as a result of her mistreatment, was given no medical attention because that mistreatment would have been apparent, alerting authorities, and when she died as a result, AB dismembered the body to cover up evidence of abuse (both physical and sexual), disposed of it, and then disposed of / replaced the mattress in her bedroom. Upon hearing that Zahra's birth-mother had located them and knowing that they would have to produce the child if she'd contacted the local authorities, they concocted the fire, the ransom note and, eventually, AB's 911 call.

Based on the last time he says he saw Zahra, there would not have been time for EB to have killed her / dismembered the body / dug the hole within the hole and dumped the remains there and at the other sites in the short time-span without his notice or involvement. Surely, digging the hole would be a time consuming job... and dismemberment / clean up would have required a fair amount of time as well. This is merely my opinion / theory of what occurred. Hopefully, his own statements, behavior and the forensic evidence will bring AB to justice along with EB.

R.I.P. Zahra... Now you can run, play, jump, laugh to your heart's content.

Just a heads up - this is not the cause of death thread, or one discussing the guilt of anyone. Your comments will be more fruitfully received in threads more applicable to your thoughts.

oops, sorry duck, I did not realize where I was, lol. Will move my post to the AB involvement poll thread. I can't move CPP and the others tho. Little help?

ETA ty duck, got mine dealt with and carried over a snip of CPP's so my response would be in context.
