Out of curiosity, why have they suddenly started leg-ironing her?

Also: isn't it unusual for the defendant to be able to wear there own clothes for pre-trial conferences, etc? Or is this just because the case is so well publicised it would be unfair to have her shown all over the place in prison garb?
