ITA, Mia.

Just making note of the ongoing discrepancies that have been uttered by BD in her interviews.

Sometimes, they occur from one breath to the next.

It is far less taxing to track the things that are consistent in this story.
Paints the picture pretty vividly:

Child is missing, child expressed fear of SA, SA last to see her, SA source of the overnight story, SA quit his job unbeknownst to anyone and is unaccounted for those two days. Failed his polygraph, deleted evidence during questioning, lawyered up, not talking.

The rest of it is just that background noise that if you focus on it long enough you can't hear anything anymore. Tune it out and it is once again really simple and clear.

Attention searchers....

Don't hold your breath!

I have to say something here (just jumping off your post Shiek as we have seen & read other posts/sites on this); they are searching woods, it is cold & snowed. It doesn't matter if it is a live Hailey or not; she needs to be found. Someone needs to pay dearly as there is no explanation.

A 12 yr. old girl (K. Boudreau), it was after a couple weeks of eating lobster, partying on donations, etc. everyone suspected (Mom & B/F); the town didn't let that stop them. They RALLIED, she was found & her mother got a lst degree murder charge. Her excuse was she want to be free and didn't think the boyfriend wanted her there, because they fought (her & her daughter).

From this small town experience; if people are mad enough, maybe they will have more incentive to find Hailey & persecute the killer? Just a thought.

Poor Hailey, having to live in a house with these people...I'm sorry, whether they are criminals or not, they are horrible parents, in my opinion.

sheesh Cluc, I thought I got on you ab:woohoo:out hogging all the good opinions earlier...:floorlaugh:

So MM has been named and SA is talking to the press.
Coincidence and not planned I am sure.

.....a "borrowed" silver nitrate package of sticks. These are not available/ not for sale.

Silver nitrate is a chemical compound with chemical formula AgNO3. This nitrate of silver is a light-sensitive ingredient in photographic film and is a poisonous, corrosive compound. Silver nitrate crystals can be produced by dissolving silver in nitric acid and evaporating the solution. The compound notably stains skin a greyish or black color that is made visible after exposure to sunlight.

Silver nitrate has been used as an antiseptic, dropped into newborn babies' eyes at birth. This is to prevent contraction of gonorrhoea or chlamydia from their mother. A very weak solution is used for this, (about 1%) and there are very few side effects.

Mythically, silver nitrate was used as a method of killing vampires, with the silver nitrate generally being injected into a bullet cartridge or used in a hypodermic needle.

Fused silver nitrate, shaped into sticks, was traditionally called lunar caustic and used as a cauterizing agent.

It can also be used in wound management to 'knock back' over-granulation of tissue in healing wounds such as ulcers and sinuses

IMO, Billie has more of an attachment to Shawn than her daughter as shown by her desire to spend time with the man who is the only named suspect in her daughter's disappearance. Did you catch her statement that her kids PROBABLY knew that she put them before Shawn? Probaby....ugh

IMO, Before the show was aired, Billie conned/manipulated the extremely nice ladies that were the interviewers on this blogtalk radio program.

Any other thoughts???

I surely did catch that PROBABLY!

Yep, the mess is keeping BD and SA apart, Darn it. Well at least they don't have to worry about SA and Hailey getting along "not anymore" since Hailey's gone. I couldn't believe that came out of BD's mouth.

I'm ready to pull my hair out I tell you!

Thank you, I thought I heard that too....CRAP :banghead:

Thanks for the info! I wish there had been a follow up question about what reason on earth she would have to bring them home if not to supervise or inflict the branding of her son...

Yes - was there a bona fide medical reason for bringing these silver nitrate sticks home?

These are also used for mouth ulcers in cancer patients and people that have viral infections or develop ulcers with acidic foods. One quick touch cauterizes and it is very painful. Maybe the over-the-counter silver nitrate swabs are a lower strength than those found in ERs and hospitals? I will go searching for info.

Yes, the OTC (over the counter) silver nitrate products for warts, etc., do not contain the same strength and / or compound of prescription silver nitrate for healthcare / professional use. All silver compounds such as silver nitrate are regulated by FDA and thus cannot contain over a certain percentage of compound SN when used for products sold OTC.

We used to use them in the ER and med surg constantly for nose bleeds, burns and wound care primarily. Sadly, I probably still have some very old SN sticks in my garage or storage that came home w/ me in my lab jacket pocket...along w/ gauze, gloves, etc....however, I don't recall just carrying around SN sticks when I was a ward clerk, because they are considered medication and uhm... secretaries / ward clerks don't pass meds.

I'm not sure how long ago this happened (DD's "homeade" branding / tat) however, considering she was working as a nurse until 2008; it's plausible that she had them at home...innocently...as do many nurses I know.

THE DIFFERENCE HOWEVER, is that we don't go around tatting our kiddos up w/ it...so please, please don't lump us nurses (past and/or present) with the likes of BD...I've said it before and I'll say it again...she's an embarrassment to me as a nurse!

oh...and i'm just getting home and reading / catching up so my apologies if this was already answered.

She lost me when she said something about this "mess" in reference to her daughter being gone.

And listening to Billie in all of her interviews, on the 911 tape etc...she does not sound at all like a woman who is the least bit intimidated by SA or anyone else.
Cluc? That 'mess' really needs to be 'cleared' up...

What in the heck would you bring home silver nitrate sticks for? I don't even know what those are???

Sorry if this has already been answered- I'm still back on page 11. Silver nitrate sticks are used for wound care to help with healing and to assist in removing dead tissue. Silver nitrate is mostly used for burns & pressure wounds. I'm not a nurse but know about silver nitrate from caring for my husband when he required them for pressure wounds. He used patches, not sticks.

IMO, the only reason she would need to bring these home would be to help heal scarring from a carved tattoo. MOO

ETA- it does stain skin (brownish/blackish) but it is temporary. It is not meant for surrounding skin, just wound area.

As an oxidant, silver nitrate should be properly stored away from organic compounds. Despite being used in low concentrations to prevent gonorrhea and control nose bleeds, silver nitrate is toxic and corrosive.[30] Brief exposure to the chemical will not produce immediate or even any side effects other than the purple, brown or black skin stains, but with more exposure, side effects will become more noticeable, including burns. Long-term exposure may cause eye damage. Short contact can lead to deposition of black silver stains on the skin. Besides being very destructive of mucous membranes, it is a skin and eye irritant.

Nice! Another example of great parenting skills!

epiph, I hope you don't mind me bumping up your post. I think this was the one BD comment that blew me away. And the comment about "the mess" was pretty bad as well.

any probs with Hailey and Shawn?

Billie: Not any more.

The problem with these interviews is that there is no follow up. She is asked a question, she gives an answer and no one follows it up. Like the nitrate sticks. Why did she bring them home?

MOO

My dad used silver nitrate sticks, also known as styptic pens. He bought them (in the UK) to stop the bleeding when he cut himself shaving.

He is a tad old school, he still used a brush and soap to lather with until his recent passing.

Why on earth she thought they were a 'plaything' though is beyond me. Some people are not cut out to parent IMO.

Oh and BTW, in case anyone else needs it in the future...I learned tonight that you can listen to the blogtalk interviews (on this station anyway) in their entirety by calling the designated call in number and selecting option 2 (i think it was 2) to listen to the show!

Gotta love Houston traffic...sure makes you research additional resources to stay current with bombshell interviews such as these! LOL

CD was going to call CPS on BD for scarring DD's back but BD beat him to hit by calling CPS as Hailey saw a mushroom at CD's brother's house. hmmmm...

Sounds as if they (BD/CD) used CPS as a vindictive tool, KWIM? I am NOT saying either of their reasons for calling were not reportable, just the context of how it occurred.

Then BD calls and reports MM? It does cross my mind that she uses calling CPS as a way to get even or to cause trouble for someone.

forgive typos. I'm not a typer

BD says she has been at bridge once or twice, but it's too emotional.

I was impressed that she knew where it was and what it stands for:banghead:

Okay - coming in at the tail end here again. But are we allowed to post info on the MM? Such as MySpace? Thanks.

ETA: Nevermind - I really alerady know the answer to that one...
