Dr. Suess??

She didn't do it, I tell you all
She didn't do it, who must we call?

This fine young thang held against her will
This quiet beauty the states wants to kill.

It's a coverup which is plain to see
It was that woman whose name starts with "Z".

She didn't do it, I tell you all.
She didn't do it, who must we call?

How many clues must be given out?
How many times do we have to shout?

With long brown tresses of wavy hair
We tell you again, this isn't fair.

She didn't do it, I tell you all.
She didn't do it, who must we call~!!!!

:floorlaugh::floorlaugh::floorlaugh: OMG, you made my day! Priceless.......

wow...seems like the Florida taxpayers are being "punished" because the DA dared to charge CA with the murder of Caylee. I had high hopes for this judge, but he seems to be giving Jose the taxpayers money anytime he whines for more. It also appears that the judges' deadlines mean nothing to JB.....Perry, all bark but no bite. :innocent:

Yes it's disgraceful. Deadlines doesn't mean deadlines, and evidently justice can't be served unless the defense is given 10 times the amount of money they need for their fishing expeditions. 7500$ for a mental health expert is absurd unless they're bringing in Dr. Phil, which I'm sure they considered.

The biggest problem I have with this is - WHY were they not made to account for how money was spent before she was declared indigent? Seems like a pretty big loophole there if a person can spend/keep a windfall from selling pictures of the victim (don't get me started on that - Son of Sam law needs to cover that imo) and then say they're broke.

Most of what they're asking for (and getting) is REALLY small potatoes compared with the 300k+ they went through... this needs to brought to light at some point.

Before everyone gets upset with HHJP for going on an approval spree of defense spending. Remember he is looking to promptly bring this case to trial, insure a fair and constitutional trial process, and safeguard the publics purse strings. he knows what these trials cost, he has a pretty good idea of what the expenses for each piece of it will be. And he has so far been carefully dolling out funds to stay well within those typical expenses.

As much as we like to scream about the defense, there was nothing in todays funding requests that was unreasonable or had any real reason to not be approved. Additional psych expenses for mitigation were expected. As AZLawyer pointed out above, so far the costs seem low. Typical local transcription costs are to be expected and should not be an issue approving. And the defense actually brought a cost saving request to the table with the video conferencing.

There was nothing in todays approvals for anyone to get upset or indignant about. Not even Florida taxpayers. There is a difference between the costs of doing the peoples business, and milking it. Everything approved today looked to be legitimate costs. Also don't forget that the major requests today were made by AF, who has to date appeared to be a fairly competent and meticulously organized attorney who follows the rules, asks for things properly and seems to have so far earned HHJP's respect.

In short, there was nothing today, at least related to JAC payments, that really had any chance of being turned down. It was all reasonable and well and properly presented.

Now JB being JB and trying to stall on the motion to strike and play games with scheduling experts... yeah that had no chance of flying.

I totally disagree - 7500$ for mental health experts is ridiculous - and in the context of this particular case, all of this should have been paid for beforehand with the small fortune the defense procured from selling pictures of Caylee. Alas, if it helps lead to a conviction and less likely for a successful appeals process, I guess it's money well spent. I do pray Jose is made to account for his squandering of the 300k.

$7500 is not a lot when you compare it to other cases.

Cost of death for Duncan questioned

The office spent $83,622 on five mental health and legal experts to testify as witnesses on Duncan's mental health.

ETA, I will be the first to admit that it makes me physically sick, knowing that the good people of Florida are having to pay for her defense, when JB blew through enough money to pay for these experts. :(

Mental health experts are usually saved for the mitigation phase, but could it be that a MH expert will be used, in the guilt/not guilty phase, to explain Casey's (so called) fear of mommy dearest (and subsequent cover up of this "accidental death" theory being thrown around) ?

Okay,
Not sure how I did this but I have part 1 up now. I will get the other parts of today's coverage up as soon as I can and post links here.

Wrong hearing! LOL .............stay tuned!

I just don't think that because one was extremely ridiculous that the other is any less ridiculous. I'd love to see a breakdown of how 7500$ for assessments, etc. would look. It's not as if she's going to be treated. Of course that's assuming they're NOT going with an expert from overseas, another state, a celebrity and paying for their expenses. Hmmm...

So, is the "Agents of the State" hearing still on for next week? I can wait for the canine hearing (It will be admissable no matter when they have the hearing, imo). The "Agents of the State" hearing is what I am more interested in. I really hope that the Anthony's TRY to claim that they were working with/for LE and they play the message Cindy left for John Allen (or was it Yuri Melich?) where she goes off on him... and the recording she had with, I completely forgot his name, where Cindy complains about Yuri and John to their superior.... it is also when she says she would have WAITED to call 911 and would have lawyered Casey up. WAITED to report Caylee missing... :banghead: Oh, and all their interviews with the media where they bash LE for doing their job.

Does anyone know if Cindy, George and Lee will be called to testify? I would assume that Yuri and John are going to have to testify?

Horace I tried to do a google on what one of these experts are paid on an average, but had no luck. I get what you are saying though. It's the people of Florida that are bearing the brunt of this. I just thank God I live high on my mountain top here in Kentucky. :)

Does anyone know what the average pay for one of these experts are? And to our Florida members, God bless you.

I found this.....

http://www.reidpsychiatry.com/reidfaq.html#how2

How much do forensic professionals make?

Private fees in my psychiatric subspecialty range from about $150/hour to about $700/hour. The latter is for one or two people who are internationally known for extremely specialized stuff. Most well trained and experienced forensic psychiatrists charge between $300 and $500/hour (as of April, 2008). Sometimes we discount our fees.

Forensic psychologists usually charge a bit less. The most expensive I know charge around $350-400/hour (April, 2008). The least expensive (but well-qualified) ones that I know charge about $150/hour.

Note that private fees are virtually always by the hour. It is unethical to charge a "contingency fee" (like some lawyers), in which one's pay depends on the outcome of the case. Ethical experts never charge a big flat rate just for their "testimony" itself; that's just on TV (or maybe experts whom I might consider unethical).

Professionals who are employed by someone else, such as a government agency, usually get a salary, so the hourly fee concept is not relevant (unless the employer is being paid by the hour for the employee-professional's time). Most such people do "in-house" forensic work (such as being employed by a jail or prison to do inmate treatment, by a state mental health system to evaluate or treat patients referred by the judicial system, or by a large prosecutor's office to evaluate defendants). Salaried positions vary from about $35-40,000/year for some entry-level masters-degreed professionals to $150-200,000/year for senior forensic psychiatrists (April, 2008). Senior forensic psychologists (Ph.D.) may make over $100,000 in a some salaried positions. And don't forget that salaried positions usually include health and retirement benefits, involve less hassle than private practice, may be more stable than private practice, and have no office "overhead" expenses.
