Final comments:

LDB is amazing. Yuri was excellent and I really enjoyed his spar with Baez. I'm going to re-watch that part of the hearing when it's up.

I think the Universal Q&A will be tossed, but Yuri's chat with KC at Hopespring Drive will stay, as will her written account.

The funny part was when CA admitted she would sit on ICA or hold her down to get ICA to admit where Caylee was.

Yes, and LDB very neatly got CA to say that she would sit on her if necessary to stop her leaving the house that night. Later on it became apparent why she asked that- to emphasize the fact that nothing was actually stopping her from going anywhere she wanted- as far as LE was concerned anyway, she was NOT in custody..
LDb can get both those Anthonys right where she wants them by appealing to their arrogance, they can't resist.
When she gets GA riled up he gives the whole game away. Truculence is his middle name.

What a draining day. Don't know how I'll last through the trial. Baez has cemented his incompetence in granite. This was just beyond the pale today. Wonder when Perry will rule - and will Cindy, after her LIES today be made a hostile witness in the future?

It was a grueling day. lol I guess today and tomorrow are training camp for the trial itself.

LDB did such a great job today--never easing the pressure, never missing a detail or a trick--hour after hour.

I can hardly wait to watch the replay of the YM testimony. I missed a lot b/c dropped signals, etc., and definitely want to watch Baez convict his own client. lol Yeah, know it is not the trial proper, but I just don't see him changing tactics since he thinks he is the cat's pajamas.

I think today will really put some added fire in CA for her next round. I can foresee her stewing for weeks as she preps for her next visit to the wit stand and another shot at LDB. jmo

Once JB gets his azz kicked by HHJP tomorrow, I think he should consider applying for a new job- with the SA office. He could not have made their job easier if he'd tried. I bet LDB and JA are laughing all the way home.
He gets the Oscar for Doofus of the Year.

For a moment she did look like she was about to stand up and say something, and then got a hold of her anger.

This is just a preview of what the trial will be like, and I think it's likely that CA (and GA to a lesser extent) will be so angry and upset with the testimony of various witnesses, they're going to end up either having an outburst, or having to leave the courtroom.

They can't be in the courtroom at trial because they're witnesses.
HHBP let them in today after they testified. Defense wanted a special exception to let them stay in the courtroom to hear each others testimony them being the parents of the defendant. HHBP said no, but that they could go first, then come back in.

That was at the very beginning giving me a idea of what the day was going to be like.

I have been addicted to this story ever since it broke. I never read blogs or wrote in forums, throw in my 2 cents worth but this case has me spellbound and speechless.

I cannot believe the amount of time (since July 2008) I have invested in reading news, streaming status hearings, Nancy Gracing, LKL, Casey Anthony 48 Hours Mysteries –the list is endless. But today’s performances made it hugely worthwhile. Some of Baez’s questions to Yuri Melich were breathtaking, literally! If that was my Defense Lawyer, I would have sacked him a long time ago. Why not point out that I’m a liar, a thief, so beneath human kindness as to not just lie, but lie to a police officer who is trying to help you find your child!

Sometimes I think I could have learned a foreign language and I would be fluent by now if I had studied Spanish or French or Mandarin for as long as I have studied this case!

Great day though, looking forward to replay and tomorrow!

And HHBP said that this decision on sequestering GA/CA was for these hearings only, and he will readdress it at trial. He expressed concern that they would let other witnesses' testimony "color" their own.

ok friends - I was nearly totally busted by dh as he arrived home before the end of the hearing. Suddenly heard the garage door, So, I had to slam the laptop closed and run into the kitchen and pretend to "do things."

Last 10 minutes and the conversation at the bench? I'll look at it when they post it, but a brief play by play? Anyone? TIA!

Lol! I don't even try to hide it from my DH. When he walks in the door and sees me on WS yet again, his reply is always the same: "They haven't hung her yet?" Lol!

I only got to see a little of the hearing, but what I saw...unbelievable. The exchange between Yuri and Baez...Baez's talk about the "ruse"...priceless...it was Yuri's one and only missing child case...I didn't think Baez expected him to say that...so how could he (Yuri) know what he would say to a mother of a "missing" child...he never encountered one!! I saw a big time smirk on Baez's face...wonder if his smirking has anything to do with his being caught off guard (he looked mighty embarrassed). Like...I can't get you with my questioning so I'll just show my utter disbelief with a smirk!!

They didn't pan to Judge Perry that often during the hearing... I am wondering if he was keeping track of the Anthony's lies? I was really hoping to get a good look at him when George's statements contradicted with Cindy's or when either one of their statements contradicted with LE.

Because of the blaring inconsistencies in Cindy and George's testimony, would Judge Perry be more apt to go with LE's testimony when making his decisions?

I think I noticed CM at the bench almost ready to pull his hair out..while Judge Perry said something very pointedly at Jose..Could It be that Jose OPENED THE DOOR to that Smell evidence????:floorlaugh:

I wish I could remember the wonderful old saying that fits so well right here........but my brain is fried...........in essence, JB wants it both ways, both a smelly pizza and a dead body...whichever serves his current argument.......they are literally throwing stuff against the wall and I believe will devise their defense around the rulings of these hearings no matter how absurd it seems to us. The frustrating part is we hear it all, the jury hears none of it.......so depending on the rulings by HHJP, the jury's version could be new to even us.

RR, the deputy who did it was on the force under a year on that night. He stated that CA approached him with a bunch of receipts and statements and said that KC had been stealing her money, that she was afraid that KC would flee if LE did not take her into custody before they located Caylee, and so he cuffed the accused. His superior quickly advised him that their primary mission was the missing child case, nothing else, so he uncuffed her in 4 or 5 minutes.

It was strikingly apparent how nervous he was and how scared that he had done something to foof up this case. LDB was excellent with him.

So was the money Cindy's first concern...or what?

ETA: Why would you even bring that up after you find out your granddaughter is missing?

Yuri was solid on the stand... bravo to him!
