2011.03.03 Lee Anthony's Testimony

Beware of pretty faces that you find.
A pretty face can hide an evil mind.

and right after that:

Ah, be careful what you say,
You'll give yourself away.

Thanks again, this is the best I've felt all day. (still sick & now have fever on top of cold & cough, which has turned into bronchitis...ugh) Well, there were a few bright spots during the hearing where I forgot how bad I was feeling...

Something that intrigued me during LDB's cross of Lee today.

She didn't seem at all surprised at his candor.

I know she's a pro and a cool customer so wouldn't have necessarily shown any reaction either way -- but I got the distinct impression she EXPECTED him to behave just the way he did.

She didn't start out softer or tougher than with the other witnesses, there just seemed to be an EASE between them.

Perhaps this has something to do with his particular immunity deal, a deal much more encompassing than his parents have negotiated perhaps...

I wonder if Baez even worked with Lee before he testified today as I assume he did with George and Cindy. Doesn't seem so. Baez seemed to be working without a net.

I could be all wrong... I'm not a Scorpio (though I did stay at a Holiday Inn last night...)

I got the exact same impression! Almost like THEY had prepped rather than Lee and JB.

strawberry, I know huh? It's like he was HER witness, fully prepped, locked and loaded. They had such a rapport. The whole dynamic fascinated me. Glad you noticed it too. I wonder if they DID have a discussion prior to today about his testimony.

I expected Lee to be honest today. As far as an immunity deal, I'm not sure what exactly Lee would have done to need immunity.

I just haven't seen Lee the way it seems most people have. There was a time, and IIRC it was when he said "I believe everything my sister tells me." when I was pretty fed up with him, especially since I had been defending him for so long, but at some point I decided he was being sarcastic, lol. Up to the murder of Caylee, I could see comparing sibling notes with Lee, so maybe that's why I have a soft spot for him.

I believe what I saw today with Lee and his testimony is what I will also see from him when he has to testify at Casey's trial.

Lanie, I've always been in the other camp. I couldn't believe what I was seeing today.

It was just a few months ago he got on the stand with his "I love you" to Casey, full-frontal, and wasn't all that polite to LDB.

I don't know what Lee did to have a need for immunity, but his attorney said he did something, and LE said "he knows what he's done", so I assume he did something and made some kind of deal.

It doesn't even matter if he changes course during the trial as far as I'm concerned, although I doubt he will. Because today was CRITICAL. I think he was instrumental in assuring those jail vids will come in and they are DEVASTATING to her case. The jury will despise her when they hear that first call. Christina wailing about Caylee and Casey saying "whatever, gimme Tony's number!", and so much more.

The defense needed Lee today and they got nothing. The blood drained out of Casey's face. She looked stunned, truly shocked, doomed. This was huge.

I do agree about his "I believe everything my sister says... because I have to" statement being pretty much nothing. I didn't put a lot of stock in that.

But he's always seemed to be one of Cindy's foot-soldiers whether he liked it or not. Something has changed. IMO.

(BEGIN VIDEO CLIP)

GEORGE ANTHONY, CASEY`S FATHER: Can you ask for something to write with so that you can send a note to the sheriff himself, you know, attention Kevin Berry. Just listen to me for a second.

CASEY ANTHONY, CAYLEE`S MOTHER: Yes, I`m listening.

GEORGE ANTHONY: And tell him that you want to speak to me, you know, or Lee or Mom, and you want it to be done today. He can do it. He can...

CASEY ANTHONY: Well, Dad how am I going get any...

(CROSSTALK)

GEORGE ANTHONY: Listen...

CASEY ANTHONY: No, I`m listening to you. How am I going to get anything to him? How can I...

(CROSSTALK)

GEORGE ANTHONY: Just ask someone from corrections to give you paper and pen, whatever it`s going to take, or pencil, just to write it. And put attention to him and just say, I need for this to be delivered to him now. They -- they will do that. Believe me. I`ve already discussed that with a lot of other people that they said if you request that, they can do it. Believe me.
Yet this was done on the day that Baez was going out of town...so it very well may be that LE planted the idea in George's head...or George saw Baez's absence as HIS only opportunity to get to his daughter.

ITA. He seemed to have no problem being a yes man for Cindy at the beginning of the case. It kind of makes me wonder if now that's he marrying Mallory that he's more loyal to her than mama Cindy and isn't willing to sacrifice his future family for Casey just to please mom.

I just have the feeling that him getting married has something to do with his attitude. It somehow has caused a huge wedge between him and his parents and Casey. Maybe he's put it off for a long time because of Casey? Or maybe his mother made some outrageous request about the wedding to include Casey somehow and that put him over the edge?

I'm glad you said this 'cause it's exactly what I was thinking. The State definitely had something on him...IMHO.

That's probably it.. and it makes the most sense. I guess because Cindy has been writing to Casey about the "wedding" and the turtle and all the rest and it seemed she's gotten very close to Mallory, I just figured she had both of them wrapped up in her web.

I'm starting to have a higher opinion of Mallory too. Have to reassess this whole area LOL. Mallory's mom being on the foundation board, seeing Mallory and Lee on that cruise, not having read her depo... I just had both of them in the "dark side" column.

See, it just goes to show ya. People can change. And if this is so then I'm happy for them and wish them a good life ahead.

That AND he seems pleased as punch to be there. He didn't seem unwilling to testify as he did today. He seemed at ease, natural, just the facts. Not like he was forced in any way. You can tell when someone does something under duress. He showed no strain. I found the whole thing fascinating.

The very last question JB asked LA was something about his being sure that LE was on Caylee's side. LA said yes. Then the camera stations itself on the prosecution's table. The guy in the middle can be seen shrugging his shoulders and shaking his head. It's like he was saying, "I have no idea how that question helped anything?????". JB tried to have a Perry Mason moment and fell flat. If anything JB helped prove the prosecution's point.

JB missed that day in law school...........the one where they taught - Never, NEVER, NEVER ask a question you don't know the answer to!

I still think he's had therapy. I know someone who came from a strict religious background, and had a handicapped sibling. Every night even in her early 20s she came to help her widowed mother put her sibling to bed. And she resented it. She was also a closeted lesbian. She went to therapy and the therapist said whose decision was it to put your sibling to bed every night? And she came out to her mother who said she just wanted her to be happy. This person says therapy was a good thing....I am reminded of her by Lee's honest straightfoward answers. He loved Caylee, he loves Casey, but he is in control of his own behavior and darn it he is not going to play games.

I was not a fan at all of Lee. I little ashamed of my self :iamashamed:

I now a fan of Lee. I was expecting him to get on stand and has the attidue.
WOW I was wrong. He slap Jose and Casey right in the face. :rocker:

I believe now he was was the only one working to find Caylee.

After today I feel like he never believe Casey.

Lee telling her Good Luck told me alot.

I always felt he moved Caylee's body. Not anymore I believe he would went right to LE.

:fencefall:

IMO Cindy and George really got on my last nerve. :puffy:

I'm not holding my breath that Lee will finally do what is right by CAYLEE instead of Casey. But I am so pleased he was honest today. Although it's important to note that today was not the trial. And the real tough ball questions haven't been lodged at Lee yet. I hope and pray to GOD that he performs the same at trial as he did today.

If what was speculated today on the forums is true then it might explain his drastic change. If Lee is a father to be his attitude might change about a lot of things like his feelings for Caylee and maybe even his own Father.

Whatever his motive I'm pleased he was honest and wasn't rude to LDB.

I gotta say, I am pleased he appeared honest and cordial to all the attorneys, and most of all to Caylee's memory.......but
I do think he has to be partly motivated by CMA - Cover My A$$. JMHO.
(That said, if he continues to be honest for Caylee - I *might* give him grace for his earlier behavior.)

I was impressed with Lee A's well. For all that we get angry with the A.'s, Lee is in a difficult spot. CA and GA have chosen Casey over Caylee. They have chosen to lie and throw others under the bus to do so. They sold Caylee out. Lee has never forgotten Caylee. He may still love his family-his sister too but he is not going to sell out Caylee nor his own integrity to protect Casey. He seems to be at peace. I have always liked Lee. His whole family has been ripped to shreds by his sister but he is not going to allow Casey to destroy his new family with Mallory. He is the example that GA and CA should be following. You can still show your love for a loved one by not throwing your own life and integrity under the bus to try to save them from punishment.

It is refreshing to see that Uncle Lee never forgot his promise to Caylee and that he will always put Caylee at priority No. 1. TY Lee for putting Caylee first!

I wonder if he still thinks Caylee might be alive.
