Has attended around 100 autopsies.

KC's face cold, motionless.

JA objecting already but am having a hard time hearing on akamai...

BOOM!!

JA asked are you an expert on human decomp? and He said NO

  • #203
ds: dr voss has no training in chemistry.

DS: what did you mean when you said you were not an expert in biochemistry of decomp I am a bio chemist so I am familiar but as to the bacteria that produce them I am not an expert.

TIA: who called this witness?

  • #204
Rut roh, the doctor doesn't even consider himself an expert........

:panic:

  • #205
He has read up on information pertaining to this case. No expertise, just read about it. :banghead:

  • #206
So DCS just asked if he was trained in decomposition and he gave a HUGELY roundabout answer where a simple "no" would have done.

  • #207
he read articles...reviewed abstracts other researchers that are currently in the process.

  • #208
Dr. Logan - I have reviewed literature(by Dr. Vass and others) and with my expertise in chemistry and have reviewed such and have developed opinions based on such. I have used gas chromotagraph in tens of thousands of cases

  • #209
Sims seems flustered already

  • #210
Judge asking witness questions now

  • #211
Dr. Logan has not testified previously in court as an expert re: human decomp

  • #212
Judge asking the questions again!

  • #213
:twocents: Give JAB & the gang a break....let Dr. Logan "chat" about gc/ms and then challenge him on the SPECIFICS of Dr. Vass' et al studies!

  • #214
Judge - Let me save you some time. When have you testified in court as an expert about human decomposition?

Witness - Never

  • #215
i have not testified previously about human decomp
the judge says you said something about peaks.

yes.

what about human decomp of human bodies?

well, pigs we used for decomp is easier than getting access to human bodies and letting them decompose so the use of pigs for forensic studies is quite common.

Judge: we don't have a jury here. if we had a jury I would not let him testify. I will let him now and be on cross from JA.

  • #216
HHJBP is going to allow because no jury

  • #217
HHJP: If there was a jury here, to be frank with you, I would not allow him to testify.

  • #218
Judge - Since no jury, he is allowed to testify. JA can cross examine him, and then later they will decide if it is allowed.

  • #219
Witness has only dealt with decomposition in pigs. Not Humans.

  • #220
:twocents: HHJP is "on the money" when he REMINDS everyone that there is NO jury present!

:seeya: Hey Dr. Logan, decomposed bodies in a morgue setting are HUGELY different from what one encounters in the field!......We have PPR (positive pressure rooms) that SUCK OUT the "bad" air and microfilters the air....so the lab staff can WORK in some comfort!:banghead::banghead:
