I was absolutely astounded at the level of emotion KC showed today. And yes, it was ALL for herself. To think that she can sit there hearing the most gruesome details about her own child's remains, and be stony-faced--but when the talk turns to how HER rights are being violated, she's finally reduced to tears? It was just such a telling moment and huge insight into her inner workings. Truly amazing to watch.

Oh, and I was thinking about the "was CM's touch meant to be some kind of trigger for her emotions" and I do think this is part of it. I seem to recall back in the AL days, she was quick to physically comfort the defendant when she began to show signs of emotion. AL may be off the team, but she clearly left her playbook in their locker room, IMO.

Good point! This will be something to look for during the trial. If we see CM rubbing KC's back, we can anticipate tears soon. It will be interesting to see if this happens on a regular basis.

Yeah, but I went back to the video. Judge Perry was not playing and said very clearly that if his decision was appealed, it would delay the trial!

At about 24:00 in this video - Judge Perry clearly states that this trial will be delayed if his decision is appealed!!!! He wasn't playing around!

Does the General manager of CF News 13 really want to be responsible for this?

I think that is ONLY IF THE APPEAL overturns HHJP's decision and he is required to grant them an evidentiary hearing. Bill Sheafer explains it very well in the WFTV video link. Let me see if I can find it.

Watching Vinnie on PrimeNews. I think Mary from New York, a caller, is a WSer. She said she thought Casey was crying crocodile tears. I agree.

But Vinnie was sympathizing with casey of course.

Or he wants the media to "THINK" they revealed the juror location but in reality it is somewhere else. That could explain why KC was a little happier as they were escorting her out of the court room. Perhaps she found out the real locatation and is happy about it.

The important thing is Bill S. states that he does not believe that the Court of Appeals will overturn HHJP's ruling because "they don't live in a box either." They judiciary is very aware of the media coverage and will most likely agree with his ruling. IF that is the case and the appellate court denies their appeal, it will be an expedited ruling handed down and everything should be able to go forward as scheduled.

I don't know. I watched the video several times and I'm just not sure there were real tears. It also seemed convenient that CM had his hand poised to comfort her before she ever started the eye rubbing. I just wonder if this wasn't staged.
I was hoping that ICA had finally understood that this was serious and going to happen very very soon. But I still can't see evidence of real tears.

Yeah, Bill S. always seems to be the voice of reason, and I do hope he is correct. I feel confident that the appellate court will agree with Judge Perry. I just got the impression he was saying "Go ahead and appeal, I will delay this trial, in order to ensure it is fair."

I suppose I am more annoyed, ok not annoyed :furious: at the fact that they won't let it go. Judge Perry was very clear this morning, and it seems some media just doesn't get it. They are sooooo looking to scoop someone else, rather than use common sense and do the right thing.

Any delay will cost the taxpayers of Florida alot more than they have already had to pay. It is beyond ridiculous that Casey is still stealing from "the people".

I consider WFTV and the Orlando Sentinel to be the most reputable among the media in Orlando. The OS chose not to be party to either motion. WFTV had no problem signing the agreement. Don't know where WOFL stands right now (with regard to appeal), and WKMG won't be party to an appeal. They seem to "get it".

I just hope this does not cause any delay.

PLUS - I don't want to put our countdown in a holding pattern! :giggle:

I also believe ICA was fake crying. At some point either JB or CM gave her a cloth hanky to douse her tears and it sat folded in front of her on the table.
Then again she didn't examine her fingers after wiping her 'tears' the way she always has when she used a tissue so I'm inclined to believe her distress was real, just not the tears.
Does anyone know why Lippman would leave in the middle of a hearing he had submitted a motion to be heard at?? I can only think it was because BP's whole speech on ICA's constitutional right to a fair trial covered the submissions made in both motions????

When the judge said to the media attorney this motion has taken away from other motions that needed immediate attention Lippman may have thought the judge had not yet made a decision on their motion.

Maybe they're just practicing for trial. CM to ICA...when I rub your back that's your queue to cry.

I expect to see a lot of that from CM during trial. When my friend's husband was murdered, the killer's attorney coddled him like a baby the whole trial. It was clearly to make a point to the jury, see I can touch him, he's not the monster the evil prosecutors are making him out to be. The jury didn't buy it, he got the DP and was executed.

CM better be careful with that nonsense, jurors aren't stupid.

I agree CA seemed very upset and one of her worse days, IMO.
The defence JB looked very sober today.........not what they exected????

Her attorney was supposed to be present in court today to argue his motion for sequestration. Apparently he was there in court earlier, but left before the motion was heard. I haven't heard why he left prematurely. Maybe he had another commitment, although I'd think this would be a priority. So that is why HHJP asked where he was.

While I missed watching the hearing live this morning, I have now watched the videos of the hearing. I definitely noticed that Cindy was trembling. It appeared to me to be a nervous trembling and it lasted for about a minute and then stopped. The look on her face at that time was one of anger! But the trembling looked more like a nervous tremble that comes and goes.

ITA Leila. Sure hope Dr Glass does an analysis of today's hearing.

Yup. Just prior to shedding tears, she was clearly pizzed when he mentioned a right of hers being lost (due to over-saturation of media exposure) that is her due process right to a fair trial in the jurisdiction that the crime occurred. It wasn't until he said her name, that the tears came. Wonder if it has occurred to Cindy yet that her penchant to be in front of the camera has largely played a role in this mess. IMO.

Judging by her reaction to the mention in the hearing today of the parents media attention, I strongly doubt that CA understands or will ever understand that it was her bizarre behavior that captured and held the media's attention. It was Cindy and George that propelled this case in the media.

Like anyone else, Cindy had the option of saying "no comment", and had she followed this course of action, the media would have left her alone. But from the beginning she's not only been defensive with the media but combative. From a media perspective, Cindy and George Anthony have been like striking gold when it comes to media reporting.

After the bond hearing of August 22, 2008, the media showed a very angry woman coming out of the courthouse yelling at reporters and claiming that the odor in Casey's car was rotting pizza and challenging them to leave a pizza in a car for 19 days and see what happens. This captured the public's attention and with every interview Cindy's remarks were bold and sometimes downright nasty. It became a situation of wondering what she'd do next.

The day that the media showed Cindy angrily pounding "no trespassing" signs in her front yard and telling reporters they were maggots, you could feel the tension in the media present wondering what she'd do next. She didn't disappoint them, suggesting that maybe someone put a dead body in Casey's car AFTER it had been towed to the impound yard. This invoked a mental picture of an impossible and improbable task.

And while Cindy and George Anthony were doing media interviews and in the news on a daily basis, Casey was sitting in a jail cell not saying anything.

Exactly, the only times she feels emotion is when it's self pity.

Almost everyone thought there would be no more said when the court went into a closed meeting. This is when the A's attorney left. Many of the media were questioning if the hearing was over during that time. Indeed, when they came back from the closed session, HHJP said "that's it" and then made his comment to CA as an afterthought. The hankie did indeed come from the jury room area. HHJP relied on the media committee to handle media concerns and honestly believed this would have resolved unforeseen problems. Their thwart angered him.

I agree that there never seems to be real tears associated with KC's crying episodes. Usually, when one cries, a tear or two manages to slip down one's cheeks.
KC appears to look to see if there are any tears on her finger - what's that about? I didn't see KC using a tissue, only her fingers to hold back her invisible tears. :crazy:

ITA with everything you said, Softail. It angers and annoys me, too. I fully support the 1st Amendment, but I firmly believe that a defendant's right to a fair trial (especially one facing the DP) supercedes the media's right to know venue location a few days earlier than necessary. The media should act responsibly and just wait it out. I kept wanting to hear the answer to HHJP's question to them, "WHY do you need to know any sooner?" I'll tell you why they didn't answer him - because they want to head on down there and scope out the best locations and start doing exactly what they did in Palm Beach - interview every Tom, Dick & Harry they meet on the street; then those people will go home and Google the name Casey Anthony if they haven't already heard it. *POOF* There goes another bunch of potential jurors. The media just needs to hold tight and act responsibly.

RE the bold: That is exactly what he said and what he meant by that is IF the 5th Circuit Ct. of Appeals DID overturn his decision, he would be forced to grant them an evidentiary hearing and that would delay the trial. I am counting on Bill Sheaffer having a good feel for what the court will do....oh, and HHJP's record is spot-on, too.
