I don't understand why this part of the selection was not done as a group. In the past when I have been called for jury duty, we were asked as a group to stand if we had children under the age of 10, those were automatically dismissed, then if anyone was a caretaker of an elderly person, etc. When all those were cleared out, anyone else who felt a hardship was asked to stand, and then individually were asked to explain what their hardship was. It seems to me doing it that way would be a lot more time efficient. *shrug*
