So many single mothers being striked because they have to take care of their children. Maybe the court should think about providing daycare services for these potential jurors. Thay way the mothers can be with their children.

Is there a projected cost for this trial? Does anyone know?

I believe it was around 300k

ETA: I think the jury part costs 300k and that would be the vast majority of the cost so a bit more than 300k

Little OT-- Have been sick as a dog, would someone tell me if there was an issue with ICA looking at the laptop and now she is totally kept from them??

Thanks Ya'll!!

I wondered that myself. Yesterday when they broke for ?lunch the Guard was instructing ICA and attys not to do something- without a lip reader I don't know what it was but she had been on the laptop right before then so I also made the connection.

That is surprising to me. I assumed it would be more like Three Million. It seems that the sequestering of the jury would be in that range. Thank you.

"If you were selected to serve on this jury, and a vampire drank all of your blood, would it affect you?"

"Don't know."

Just keeping the jurors sequerstered it's around $361,000...not counting what the State has spent....

I thought it would be higher too. If you want a comparison, the OJ Simpson trial cost $9 million and I believe that went for 12-13 months.

Yes, there is an official document somewhere with the costs outlined. Have no idea where to find it, sorry!

I'm getting the impression this jury will be composed mostly of males.

Do you have to be a citizen of the United States to serve as a juror?

It's a shame we're losing all these single moms who support their children.

It truly is a shame, however, having retirees on the jury pool could be just as damaging IMHO. I am sure we will have retirees whom also were single parents, who grew up in times where they did what they had to do to support their families, including their very own parents.

My parents for instance both quit school in order to work to help provide for their families. Although neither of them were single parents, many retirees themselves were. Times have changed so much but... I do believe that retirees would take just as great of offensiveness of what Casey has done to her mother, her grandmother, and to her child as a single mother now would.

Either way, she is screwed.
