I don't think deputies should make assumptions about inmates either way. I think they should follow the rules for everyone so no one gets hurt. One can't assume that just because someone has no history of violent behavior that one will never act violent. When people do something crazy, very rarely do you hear people say "Yeah he was a stark raving lunatic, I am not surprised he went to the top of the bell tower and started shooting student nurses." No, usually it's the opposite "Wow, that person seemed so normal I am shocked." The rules of returning the inmates to custody/frisking them etc. are in place to protect the men and women who are brave enough to be in this line of work. KC should not be exempt from them. :twocents:

Also, can you imagine the pressure on this deputy? She doesn't want to be the reason the Pinellas jail system looks like keystone cops. She knows this is being televised and all her peers across the state are watching, her boss, etc.

They have specific rules to make sure the inmate does not come into unobserved contact with another person, even their attorney, or with something, like a pen, that can be used as a weapon. Can you imagine how that deputy would feel if casey smuggled a pen back that she used to kill herself or something? Is it likely? No, but I can see that the deputy is nervous. Once she gets used to the situation and gets to know casey as her charge, a bit more, she will likely be able to relax but until then, she must follow the rules precisely.

And BTW, I have NEVER seen an inmate allowed to stand around, unshackled, chatting with attorneys. They are already making an exception allowing her to be unshackled. It's just not how things are done.

That is more than none. All they need is 12 people who know either very little about the case or nothing at all. My mother knows nothing and would imagine there are more out there.

ITA! I am sure that the court can find a jury in this case. If not here, then Judge Perry will use his 2nd choice. Sooner or later ICA will go to trial. The last three years just seems like forever by now. :(

I know someone in Ft. Lauderdale who doesn't follow any crime cases, this one included. They can find the right jury. OJ Simpson had no problem with it and his case was know to EVERY body.

Ugh every time someone mentions the OJ case I hang my head in shame since the verdict was rendered in my home state.

North... South... It doesn't matter to me? If they can not find a jury in Pinellas County, I think they should take a shot somewhere further away. Is there any way possible they can take it out of State? :floorlaugh:

I always thought for REALLY high profile cases you should take people from another country for Jury service.

Maybe not practical but could solve some of the problems.

Yes! How about Texas? :great:

Well kimmie I know you certainly ain't talking about this one living in Ft. Lauderdale :floorlaugh:

I was so hoping this case would come here. WE went out of contention when Broward County Courthosue started falling apart. It literally is falling apart. Water pipes break; there's huge mold problems; bathrooms back up; etc etc So, I kinda figured no one would want to come here. lol

I can't believe how Baez is smiling so broadly over something so gravely serious.

Exclusive: Casey Anthony attorneys hint at shocker in defense

The defense team hasn't even hinted about what story they will tell. But they told me we're in for quite a surprise.

"We suspect there will be some jaw-dropping," said defense attorney Cheney Mason. "We'll have to wait and see."

Casey's lawyers claimed three years of questions could be answered in three minutes at trial. It might shock the public.

There is nothing the defense could say that would shock me - NOTHING. I have no doubt they've come up with some "shocking" cockamamie (sp) story. Doesn't mean us "uneducated court of public opinion" is going to buy it.

"The court of public opinion is the most uneducated court in the whole country," said lead defense attorney Jose Baez

Oye! The arrogance of this guy.

I think JB just mis-spoke, to use an Anthonyism. What he meant to say was not there would be an AHA moment, it will be a HAHA moment

Ya mean mis-spelled - don't you ZsaZsa??

To use an LG ism??

I bet the defense will claim that Caylee is NOT even dead. That is their big reveal - that will make jaws drop and Cindy will do a fist pump in the air in the court room. JA will hide his face in his hands and the judge will purse his lips. MO

Please don't say that. I felt so guilty just now when I burst out laughing.

ANYONE who hears the child's "abduction" wasn't reported to police (even if for the first time at the actual trial) will be likely to conclude she is guilty before opening statements are even complete. Innocent people from the 'burbs solicit the police for assistance when a crime is committed. JB is giving his client really bad advice - a life with parole plea shoulda already been worked out.

When is that tomorrow? I'm still listening to yesterday's and its pretty dull. I would much rather here him asked about their knowledge of the case, opinions, etc.

I don't know. It will be after the hardship phase, if they get that done in the morning then voir dire will start tomorrow afternoon. If not, whenever they get through all of these.

Wow..............I just watched this video of an interview with one of the potential jurors that was dismissed today. She says the person who started talking about the Casey Anthony case in the jury room was living in Orlando at the time and knew Casey's dad or searched with Casey's dad, she couldn't remember which. She described the person as having salt and pepper hair. I didn't catch if the person was male or female, but had the impression it was female. She said about 20 - 30 people in the jury expressed their opinion that Casey is guilty. The reporter asked if anyone in the jury room expressed the opinion that Casey is not guilty and the woman said no, no one thinks she's not guilty.

This is a fascinating interview and gives us a glimpse into the jury pool.

Ha! I wonder if Ca really believes this.

:floorlaugh::floorlaugh::floorlaugh:

They can come here to pick the Jury because besides myself, I only know 2 other people who know about this case that live here ! :woohoo::woohoo:

I think Judge Perry was correct, when he said that if they cannot get a jury here, they will go back to Orange County.

No matter where they go, the media will follow, people will know what case.... lather, rinse, repeat.

They don't necessarily need people who have never heard of the case. Just people who can put their feelings aside, and listen to the evidence. He even said that today. Some people can, and some people can't.

I am really curious what "things" CJBP plans to put in place in the holding rooms tomorrow to ensure that we don't have a repeat of today's jury fiasco? Extra guards in every room?

What are the chances of a "witness" getting called to court duty?...Miniscule I'd bet, and obviously wasnt on the radar of the Court System....I can guarantee now that ALL potential jurors will be cross checked with all names on the witness lists.. Betcha Betcha Betcha:floorlaugh:

The United Federation of Planets would be an idea.
