Also, can you imagine the pressure on this deputy? She doesn't want to be the reason the Pinellas jail system looks like keystone cops. She knows this is being televised and all her peers across the state are watching, her boss, etc.

They have specific rules to make sure the inmate does not come into unobserved contact with another person, even their attorney, or with something, like a pen, that can be used as a weapon. Can you imagine how that deputy would feel if casey smuggled a pen back that she used to kill herself or something? Is it likely? No, but I can see that the deputy is nervous. Once she gets used to the situation and gets to know casey as her charge, a bit more, she will likely be able to relax but until then, she must follow the rules precisely.

And BTW, I have NEVER seen an inmate allowed to stand around, unshackled, chatting with attorneys. They are already making an exception allowing her to be unshackled. It's just not how things are done.

As I understand they are often unshackled during trial. I know this was the case in the Sarah Johnson case. Although IIRC SP was shackled (no handcuffs) during at leat part of the penalty phase..

Anyway. I need to go and do some work.

This case is too much of a distraction :(

:floorlaugh::floorlaugh::floorlaugh:

They can come here to pick the Jury because besides myself, I only know 2 other people who know about this case that live here ! :woohoo::woohoo:

Interesting. A lot of my American friends didn't know about this case (even although there have been news articles, a few though, in the UK). What I don't get is that the press seem to compare teh publicity in this case to that in OJ.

Yeah. I think we're all going to say "Aaahhhh... THAT's what happened!"

But now it is apparently going to take them three minutes to get us to that Ahh Moment. Didn't JB used to say it would happen in the first minute? :innocent:

I am younger so wasn't an "adult" when the OJ case was about.

But from what I understand the OJ jury was not the "right" jury in that it wasn't impartial. It was defense orientated (far beyond any notion that it could be considered a "fair" trial). In fact, I understand that some sources reckon the trial outcome was determined with the Defenses COV motion.

Most lawyers will tell you the SA office spent all their time in front of the cameras preening and were not paying attention in court. There were some major mess-ups. Really major and forever a black mark on the city of LA.

I was at home when I heard about this and had to go find a better computer with better speakers to verify it.

At around the 22:35 mark Jose tells Casey she is acting like a 2 year old.

I think this started a lot of the trouble today. Casey probably saw it as a death threat.

I am really curious what "things" CJBP plans to put in place in the holding rooms tomorrow to ensure that we don't have a repeat of today's jury fiasco? Extra guards in every room?

Probably signs and announcements from court staff as people on jury duty file in.

I don't know who she is Patty G but I hope we will learn.

According to the lady interviewed, she has salt and pepper hair, was part of the TES search team and had a falling out with GA during the search.

Respectfully snipped.

As history has shown, defendants can be well behaved for years. Give them an inch they will try to escape, harm, or murder to get free. Some still try even when under heavy watch. Not saying KC would, just saying that in the US all persons in custody are treated the same way, for many good reasons that history has shown.
...besides, it's as much for her safety as it is for the safety of others. She's in protective custody for a reason. And...she hasn't been the perfect prisoner while incarcerated. It's not just about the risk of violence. JMO

Wow..............I just watched this video of an interview with one of the potential jurors that was dismissed today. She says the person who started talking about the Casey Anthony case in the jury room was living in Orlando at the time and knew Casey's dad or searched with Casey's dad, she couldn't remember which. She described the person as having salt and pepper hair. I didn't catch if the person was male or female, but had the impression it was female. She said about 20 - 30 people in the jury expressed their opinion that Casey is guilty. The reporter asked if anyone in the jury room expressed the opinion that Casey is not guilty and the woman said no, no one thinks she's not guilty.

This is a fascinating interview and gives us a glimpse into the jury pool.

(in today's news thread posted by ladonna)

Although I do want to say in some possible defense - there are very few people in a group of people who, while disagreeing with a group of outspoken people, actually have the courage to speak up - usually they simply keep their thoughts to themselves.

Unless a defendant has displayed prior bad behavior (threatening behavior) they are not to appear in front of the jury shackled so as not to influence the jury. However, they are brought in immediately before court and removed immediately when court is in recess.

Don't want to hammer this point however ICA cannot be the one determining when she comes or when she goes in/out of court. She gave up her freedoms when she was charges and held in this case. JMO

Help, please. I managed to find the reference that Baez told ICA she was acting like a 2-yr-old, and it was caught on an open mike, but I can't find the context.

You would be correct. They jurisdiction shopped. Which is what JB tried in this case.

But now it is apparently going to take them three minutes to get us to that Ahh Moment. Didn't JB used to say it would happen in the first minute? :innocent:

Yeah, just like Geragos said he would prove his client absolutely, unequivocally, 100%, stone cold innocent.

Keep blowing hard guys.

All they have is wind.

Quoting you Ynot, but replying to all who've posted the "three minute defense"
- Really.
- Really?

Your client has been incarcerated for 2.5 years and all it would take is 3 minutes to vindicate her.

Why are we doing this then?

What exactly has been gained by allowing her to rot in jail and blow thru taxpayers monies?

Bunch of shy... shut my mouth

I still can't get over how KC and JB were acting in court today. Just after the whole potential jury pool was dismissed, KC was at the table with AF and the lawyer with the unlawful hair and she was talking to them and also CM from time to time but giving the angry "girlfriend stare" across the room at JB. JB did not come and wait at the table. He was stood with the back to the camera and watching KC and how she was behaving, all the while KC was giving the "stares".

When the videos are posted, I'll find it and give a time stamp.

:floorlaugh::floorlaugh:unlawful hair:floorlaugh::floorlaugh:
I'm totally going to start using that! Oh and please do post that video/time stamp!!

CM will say: "Jury ladies and gentlemen, I am here to ah tell ya that little Caylee Marie Anthony is not even dead, we don't know where she is but we ah are convinced those were not her bones they found."

Or they will say: "Caylee Marie - that child was never missing, she was TAKEN from her mother by someone very close to her and then framed for the murder of that poor child, we have two victims here," - and they will proceed to throw GA under the bus.

In the very beginning of this case - IT WAS HUGE The media set up a webcam 24/7 on the front of the house that ICA and her parents lived in. We watched it constantly. There were protestors; some of those became combative; CA ended up waving a hammer wildly in the front yard one day; some lady came and stole their garbage that they put out on the street; GA turned the hose on a bunch of portestors one night; ICA was arrested on National TV during a prime time LIVE Nancy Grace show - LE pulled up in the yard with lights on...very right outta Hollywood scene!

So, yes, in the beginning of this case - the media coverage was huge and very much rivaled OJ's.

A whole bunch of us here have followed this case from day one (check out join dates - a lot of us signed up when this case broke).

This trial is going to be the trial of the decade if not the first half of this century - and for a whole lot of reasons.

Oh Pulease! They keep doing this for pre-trial baloney. They have been doing this for weeks to try to garner reasonable doubt with the public.

What are they gonna do? Say Caylee committed suicide?

GMAB. :maddening:

And CM needs to stop acting like it's a movie "coming attraction"
