Ann and Rosalie catching up???

Any other lawyers on her right now? I want their opinions on this last lady. My long-term confidence about this case is now wavering.

An an attorney, I see this last lady as the one who could lead to a mistrial.
When people do not understand something, they will discount it when making a decision. She will like CM's folksy manner. She will like JB and the way he calls her "Miss." She will think casey looks too young and sweet to have murdered her kid.

Now I'm really worried. I would have done everything I could to make sure she's not on the jury. Oh boy.

ITA! If a juror cannot understand testimony, especially forensic testimony then they can't use it to assist in forming an opinion. So what does that leave? He said, she said?

Clearly the state was not prepared to elaborate as to why they wanted her gone, so I believe they were using a p. strike, and did not think they would need to explain. So my question is, can a judge disallow a p. strike and if so, can the state try again with this juror, as long as they have a better prepared reason? Or is judge sold on this one?
She seems like a very nice lady, but I agree she would probably not make a good juror. I hope the State can bump her out.

Can someone please explain to me why Baez is so hellbent on having African Americans on the jury? It's not like the felon is black. Is it just because they are minorities and he is a minority?

I just don't get it... maybe I'm just slow.

Oh man, this is messed up... will the state have another chance to strike this woman (the religious one who doesn't like to judge) or is she pretty much gonna be on the jury, now? This is bad for the state, IMO. She is not going to want to level the DP, IMO.

She is on the jury unless the State can convince HHJP that their decision was not about the race of the juror.

Please address the professionals in the court room with their PROPER names. Rosie is Rosie, or any form of her name and nothing else, etc.

A little self-editing will keep this thread moving forward.

Any reason except Race, Religion, Sex

Well state gave their reason as her first response to the first question...but because they have let others through, it became a race thing?
I honestly think the lawyers are a little confused about using their strikes, and I know I am...

Me either Gitana. Me either. That's scary. And for the first time since this case started I'm worried the DT will get their hung jury.
...and it's making me physically ill.

They are having issues with RB. Looks like a disagreement. AF over to RB now. ICA looks upset that she could sit with RB.

I think the lady will just follow along with the majority actually so it may prove well for the state in the end.

ITA. Her answers went from what she thought to what she thought everyone wanted to hear. She's a pleaser.

Yup Mosby. You noticed that too. This is bad. This process is SO damn important folks. The DT is searching and hoping for that one person who isn't into details, has no children, and who isn't comfortable judging others. They just need one to sit on that jury and they're home free. The DT is looking to keep her from death or get a hung jury. That's their plan.

ITA. It is extremely bothersome to me that a juror will be seated who obviously will be unable to grasp the evidence presented. Today questions had to be repeated over and over and over. That will not happen in the court room and the information is going to go right by her.

Because of the stereotype that African-Americans distrust LE.

Forgive me...I was catching up on housework. Was the juror just on the stand the one from a few days ago that said she didn't want to judge people? Or is this a different one? I'm really concerned about this. :(

Rosalie walked away and kept shaking her head. Weird dynamics between Simms and her. What just happened there? Casey then turned to Mr. Mason. Hmmmmm tension again at the DT.

i love how JB has his back to the whole DT table playing on his phone, God he grates on me

I am an attorney and am shaking in my shoes. She, IMO, a classic wildcard who could hang the jury or, at best, cause a lot of frustration and discord. I would have done a WHOLE lot more to get her off the panel. But I also can't think what arguments are being made at sidebar? any idea what you could say at this point to the court? Are they trying to bring her back? I don't think that would help remove the taint.

That is what I'm going with. She is no doubt a sweet lady, but wouldn't make a good jurior in this type of case.
