Ms. Frye's motion was an implied threat directed at HH and how he is seating the jury which Frye claims is uncontitutional. When HH asked Baez about this motion Baez informed HH that he swore to ICA from day 1 that he would do everything he could to defend her.

bbm

did he? I missed that bit of smarm thank goodness, my nerves couldnt take it.

Motion argued by Fryer that

"waa waa we don't like how you're doing the jury selection, here's some case law on judges abusing their powers - you know kinda like you"

Denied

Pot juror questioned

Side bar

Recess

Side bar

Pot juror tossed out by state (although I thought he was a smoothy)

Judge Perry advising being tossed out of court by end of today/ then told by Judge Perry they were to be given till Saturday

Opening remarks to start Monday at 9 am IF there is a a jury

Long long long lunch

Somewhere in there Baez told us all what a great guy he is because when he took this case he swore, like for realz, pinkie swears and everything, that he would get ICA a fair trial.

We all got our hankies out, it was quite touching, ahem...

LOVE IT this post is worth repeating.

I am now eating my lunch at my desk. It is a WW Santa Fe Mexican Rice and Beans....but it somehow tastes of....grits.

Ten minutes. Last call for grits. Finish those drinks and start gathering up your pasties...

I am still confused about all these strikes. Last night on JVM, this was discussed.

VELEZ-MITCHELL: It`s a separate set of strikes for the alternates?

CASAREZ: Yes. They are getting additional strikes for the alternate; one strike for each alternate.

Snipped from Azlawyer post # 233 Legal thread

RULE 3.350. PEREMPTORY CHALLENGES
...

(d)" Alternate Jurors. If 1 or 2 alternate jurors are called, each party is entitled to 1 peremptory challenge, in addition to those otherwise allowed by law, for each alternate juror so called. The additional peremptory challenge may be used only against the alternate juror and the other peremptory challenges allowed by law shall not be used against the alternate juror".

So I guess if we are looking for 5 alternates that means 10 more strikes. Do we only have 15 PJ's left? If so, this is not looking too good. JMO

NO, I really think HHJP clearly said this AM that each side has one strike for the alternates.

This guy reminds me SO MUCH of that defense "expert."

Start at 4:40 mark.

:floorlaugh: poor lil puppy :D he forgot he was grown!

I got a funny for yall too....I used to lurk from when this case came out til I signed up, and the delay was due to not having an ISP email to sign up with...so I couldnt hold back any longer and asked my FIL if I could use his email to sign up with....and he said yes so.....

the next day, after I spent all night gleefully posting, my FIL comes to me and says...real embarassed like....."was that you using my email for web sl*ts??!"

although I did correct him, we've been personally calling WS "websl*ts" ever since!

O.M.G - post of the day! lol, too funny.

I hope you'll post your recipe in the recipe thread in the private forums....

I most certainly will, but will have to be later on today as I must go to the Dr (Boo Hoo! going to miss out on some of the afternoons activities). It is basically round steak, a little bit liver, but not important if you don't like it, sliced onions, sliced potatoes -combine all together all raw, make a nice thicker than normal type of pie crust, the size a bit larger than a pie crust, fill on one side with mixture, fold over, press with fork tines and bake. More particulars later. You can use other ingredients for filling, but this is pretty true to form for Cornish Pasties-Not Paisties:floorlaugh:

I'm going to the store and buying some wine coolers. I'm serious. :)

Ok - I'm back

AND with my own big bowl of grits. Yes, I had to go make some. Now my DD is chasing me around wanting what I don't eat (too lazy to go make her own). I keep telling her to Kiss my grits! :floorlaugh:

and I just keep thinking about the movie My Cousin Vinny and the bit with Pesci and grits.

Ok - back to eating. They're SO GOOD!!!

Ha! I had eggs, grits, and bacon for breakfast this morning. I love love love me some grits!

I saw someone else talking about red-eye gravy. I make ham, rice, and red-eye gravy all the time too.

This is how I like my grits...notice all the butter floating on the sides too?

Fry up a ham steak in butter in a heavy skillet. When it's nicely browned, take it out, and use hot coffee to deglaze the pan. Make sure to scrape up all the browned bits on the bottom. Pretty darned good!

Oh my, I'm so hungry right now.

So it's still possible to seat a jury from this county since there's a total of 5(?) strikes left between the SA and DT and HH was able to secure the facility through Saturday?

If more PJ's are needed could the court do another draw for PJ's like they did for the group last week?

Mine have tassels! (sorry folks . . . I just couldn't filter any longer) I will be good . . . I promise!
