I went back to see if Judge Perry actually did say what Mason accused him of saying ... "unfortunately that is not the law" [regarding automatic death penalty] ... and sure enough the Judge did stumble on his words and say that! Makes it sound like the Judge is saying it is unfortunate that the death penalty is not automatic! Ooopsie!

Part 6

(13:01) Juror 3140 -

(22:57) ... no philosophical or religious objections to it [the death penalty] ...
you are not, I would guess, a big advocate either for or against the death penalty ...
the reason I ask you ... ok, have you, in your own mind, thought about what cases you feel are appropriate for the death penalty and which cases are not appropriate?
[no, not really]

(22:19) the reason I ask that question ma'am, some people have strong opinions about certain things, and there are some people who believe, regardless of the facts and circumstances surrounding a murder, if someone is convicted of first degree murder, and they use these words, premeditated murder, or first degree felony murder, that if somebody is convicted, then the death penalty should be automatically imposed regardless of the facts and circumstances

(22:57) unfortunately, that's not the law
, you know, we all have our own opinions and preconceived notions that are sometime not consistent with the law. As I told you earlier, if we get to that phase, you will be required to use the law in arriving at whatever decision that you make. If we get to that stage.....

Oh you read my mind I was just doing a search to see if

"The many faces of Jeff Ashton"

had already been done, couldn't really find anything on topic, hmm...should we start one?

We all do seem to enjoy the little sparks of human explosions...these expressions are a window to the inner workings of this whole case. i vote YES!!

Amazing how CM, who claims to be hard of hearing, elderly, etc. picked up on that, eh? Talk about an attorney who is about to let loose....

Oh good lord you are keeping the mods on our toes tonight, and that's while we are balancing umbrella cocktails in one hand... :giggle:

Please to let the mods confer about the potential mitigating and aggravating factors of having such a thread, and in the meantime, keep screen-capping and sharing please!

Can the mods let us know if the mitigating or aggravating factors tipped the balance to 51% v 49% ? :)

I vote yes too :).

It doesn't even have to be an expressions thread just some of our favorite moments that have been screen captured.

Like CM with his huge umbrella or one of Ashtons priceless facial expressions. Frankly the possibilities are endless. And they are all located in various parts of this forum, might as well get them all together :)

RBBM. Ah yes, and this is exactly what concerns us. ;)

Let us evaluate our modding capacities against the potential for abuse, weigh out the 51/49 percent aspect, drag our cart and horse out of the ditch, and deliver a verdict within... well, soon.

Deal?

You make a good point. Sounds like a good deal.

Although I will say that we have very good responsible members here and I don't think anyone would abuse a thread like that, especially if we make it a no discussion thread. Kind of a pictorial of what has happened in the last three years. But nothing morbid or vulgar just some screen shots of the more priceless moments, and there are many.

RR, my final post on that thread was as follows:

I'm going to lock this one up for the time being. We will file it with the other great unsolved mysteries of life, alongside the Voynich Manuscript, the Bermuda Triangle, and why superheroes wear their underwear on the outside of their clothes.

We resumed court today with absolutely no mention of what happened yesterday. There were some rumors, but all in all, it was a blip on the screen and we are past it now...

Having watched the defense very carefully and thinking by their questions I suspect they are going to use a "sybil" defense, multiple personalities caused by alleged sexual abuse by GA or LA. I bet they say the "nanny" was one of her alters. JMHO

This is f a r o u t and really entertaining, mfcmom. Thanks.

I thought about the "multiples" defense early on. Makes it real easy to explain "Zanny the Nanny" now don't it? I don't believe it for a minute - but it would be an interesting defense. tThey (DT) would have to have psychologists testify that she was indeed a multiple - and thus this defense is out.

There is a very good Law & Order SVU about a person with multiples. Cynthia Nixon (Miranda Hobbs - Sex In The City) plays the woman with the multiples. I thought she did a really good job. The story is about a woman that alledgedly killed her baby. I recommend giving a look se - especially if you are a SVU fan.

I'm a bit late with an observation of day 10 Jury selection but I heard and saw something sooooo disturbing while one of the jurors was answering questions.
I don't know which female juror it was but I'm sure peeps here will know the one I'm talking about...it was the woman who mentioned hearing about the duct tape found around Caylee's skull. It was a chilling moment because I was sure KC would just collapse on the table, sobbing and wailing at being reminded of the torture and suffering her daughter went through! The camera was on KC when the tape was mentioned and there was nothing-no reaction. Not a twitch, no chin quiver, no covering her face, no dabbing of eyes, no time needed for her to collect her emotions and continue. Stone...Cold...Nothing.
It was a telling moment for me...any small benefit of the doubt I may have given KC was gone in that moment.
Chilling.

Hey, she didn't bother crying because she knew that PT was out. She only works up those alligator tears when the jurors are all present.
Her 'real' tears appear when they are talking about HER. and her future as an inmate. And her being unfairly treated. Otherwise, gruesome details about the crime, no response at all.

I'm liking this idea more and more, it would be absolutely fascinating not to mention hysterically funny. No discussion but surely there have to be captions? Naturally within the tos of websleuths :innocent:
