2011.05.28 - KC upset during break when CA testifies

If they were dumb enough to believe her, the A's attorney speaking out, denying abuse and threatening legal action should have set them straight. I'm wondering if they ever told ICA about her parents reaction when hints of what was to come first hit the wires.

The DT knew CA/GA were not going to go along with this, did ICA? She seems truly shocked.

Sorry, jumping in late on this discussion. If JB didn't warn her that this was coming, he is a worse lawyer than I thought.

I would really like to know if KC told JB about George holding the little baby's body after she drowned, or if JB is making that one up. Also, there is no way he can put her on the stand, she will not be able to be believable once JA gets ahold of her. jmo

I also think that KC is just very shocked that her mother is not going with the party line. Surprise, surprise. You have gone too far little girl.

This is why I cannot believe JB would distance CA/GA with his defense. They were the only ones on ICA's side. To literally make them so angry right before trial is a huge mistake if you ask me.

It's not JB's defense though. It's ICA's defense. I think that JB is telling the story that ICA told him and is bound to do his best with what he's been given. Don't get me wrong here (JB has plenty of issues) - but what would/could any of us do in JB's position? How could he NOT have distanced the A's with this defense?

Dude stayed on the case hoping to make a name for himself and he certainly is . . . I don't think he ever could have expected what ICA gave him to work with.

It's ICA's mistake. ICA is realizing what a mess she's made of things . . . and as her 'story' continues to unfold, she will get angrier and I won't be surprised when she blows a gasket.

IMO she will get on the stand because she thinks her lies will be believed IMO. She thinks she can outsmart them all,boy is she in for a rude awakening. The SA's will pulverize her!

ICA - (she covers her mouth)...she's protecting the man that hurt me. she's gonna sit here and protect him. she's never protected me, she's not even trying now."
DS - well she has to be given a chance, Casey...
ICA - she's been given the chance for three years, and she's done nothing!
DS - i know.
ICA - i mean, how can you say she hasn't been given the chance, she has a chance every single night.
DS - you're right, i was wrong...you're right, i was wrong.
(camera pans - cant read. DS covers her mouth)
ICA - enough to be aquitted, so i can get away from them

WOW. Just wow.

I like how DS says " you're right, i was wrong...you're right, i was wrong."

That is how I had to talk to my bi-polar little brother when he was having an episode. All you can do at that point is just apologize over and over and hope for the best, as a way to tamp them down a bit, to avoid a huge blow up.

I imagine Dorothy S. is beyond tired of having to babysit this menace-- she is now the "it's okay, sweetheart" person. I just can't imagine.

I never thought I would be saying this, because I have disliked Cindy with such intensity I was truly ashamed of myself. I still don't trust her, but.....I've been thinking about Casey and sociopaths in general. I have had one that I know of in my life. I'm really starting to wonder if there are really 'people' born without a soul or conscience. I won't go into the spiritual aspects of this, but I'm wondering if, no matter how good an upbringing they get, it doesn't make any difference.

Well, there may be people like that in this world. However, I don't want them in my world, breathing my air.

Watching her mother on the witness stand and realizing that Cindy was no longer going to come to her defense, was a major moment for KC. I totally agree with everyone who stated that it was a moment when KC realized that she's lost control over the one she thought she could control forever.

KC's meltdown shows that she counted on retaining control, a control she's cultivated for a lifetime. As she said to Michelle England, "I'm a good liar!" She's worked hard to make her control perfect! She's taken lying to a new level, and it's worked.............right up until this morning and she witnessed that control slipping away. When her mother left the witness stand and didn't even glance in her direction........that was the final blow.

I saw her say, "she is going to protect him". It should be noted this conversation is the ONLY time her mouth was not covered by her hand in some form or another.

This was for her "at-home audience" in my humble opinion.

That's EXACTLY what I thought, Newsjunkie. She's playing to the camera, making sure we can all read her lips, and she's saying something to the effect of, " She's protecting him. She cares more about him than she does her own daughter!"

I truly believe ICA expected for CA to be the same old doormat she's always been, and she's absolutely livid that Cindy put a hand in her face today and said, "No more, Casey. I'm done."

Good for CA! I was proud of her today.

IMHO

SA's best bet if ICA testifies is LDB. ICA is intimidated by strong, intelligent, professional women. LDB will be able to maintain control and a cool, calm demeanor. I would be concerned JA's temper may get the better of him on cross. (I must admit I love his passion though!)

I also think that KC is just very shocked that her mother is not going with the party line. Surprise, surprise. You have gone too far little girl.

ICA did not realize that Cindy only let her get away with her BS to protect Caylee. She will not protect KC anymore,IMO she wants Justice for Caylee.

Sure there are sociopaths that cant blame anyone but themselves for their actions. There is an old movie called The Bad Seed, it was made in the 50's or 60's and it is a little Casey Anthony at the age of around 9. The mom even reminds me of CIndy. Everyone should try to see it. I dont know if it is at BLockbuster or Netflix but it would be worth a look. I remember this film and it was one of my first thoughts when this case started!

If JB lets her take the stand it will only be to deliberately cause a mis-trial.

IMO: I admire the prosecution team for systematically loading every detail in a methodical manner into their chamber.

I hope they go full-barrel at the end, though.

After all ... She is such a good liar. Not!

JMHO - I think ICA was really mad because CA was actually pleasant to LDB and they were not arguing. I was under the impression that CA has definitely moved over to the State's side!

:)

Hope she stays there. I don't trust Cindy at all. She's nuts too.

I think this is true. There have been examples in the past of very young children with absolutely no empathy for other people or for animals, regardless of how others around them behave, so it (the sociopathy) may not be a learned behavior.

And, quite often , sociopaths have normal, loving and caring siblings.

I know a very sociopathic guy that I grew up with. His sister was one of my good friends. I saw him grow up into an evil, coldhearted jerk, right before my eyes. He used to hurt animals when we were very young. And then he bullied other kids, eventually was arrested for stalking and peeking into windows. He has changed his name and disappeared for years, the family has not seen him.

His parents were wonderful and loving. I went on family vacations with them and knew them very well. They treated him with love and respect but he just never had a heart.

It's not JB's defense though. It's ICA's defense. I think that JB is telling the story that ICA told him and is bound to do his best with what he's been given. I stil blame JB for not being straight with her on this and trying to make her story believable. A good attorney knows when to cut their losses and make a deal. His ego wouldn't let him.

If JB lets her take the stand it will only be to deliberately cause a mis-trial.

If the trial gets to that point, and I tend to think that after today that might be a big "IF", HHJP will continue to make certain that there is no grounds for a mistrial. jmo
