jury just back in

  • #883
Casey's standing - maybe the jury coming back in?

  • #884
what was that with LBD and JB whispering without the Judge??

  • #885
they are back and whatever LDB just said to JB made him make a horrible face...prepare yourselves.

  • #886
I seriously feel bad for the jury if they have to smell this. That smell, as joypath probably knows, stays in your nose for a long time. :puke:

  • #887
Does anyone read lips? Too bad there's no mic at ICA's table, I'd love to hear what she talks about with her DT. It's got to be outrageous.

What could she possibly be saying?

And, how does the DT listen with a straight face?

At least up to 7 years + to the nose of a Human Recovery dog. Eddie, an Enhanced Victim Recovery Dog from Birmingham England has sniffed human remains older than that and thru concrete. This article talks of the Jersey victims who they think died in the early 80's, where a child was sniffed out by Eddie in 2008:

A great read on the subject BTW.

ETA: I can't find the post I was referencing, but the question was asked how long would the smell of decomposition last. That decomp smell is called a death scent. Sorry this didn't post correctly.

another box being entered in. smaller.

I thought HHJP already denied this?

Florida Evidence code prohibits the jury from conducting an experiment does it not? I could imagine this being added to the list of grounds of appeal should it get. I read in the Atty's thread that SoCalSleuth thought this would be an impermissible experiment. (Does anyone know what the other Attorneys thought?)

Add to this the risk of an OJ "glove does not fit" fiasco (catchphrase anyone -"you cannot smell"?) and you must question why the prosecution want this in, they seem to think they have a strong case and even without this the evidence for at least homicide of some sort is strong on any view of the evidence.

I do not think he did iirc. he was given case law by both sides in one of the pretrial hearings

He has not ruled yet. Says he will need to be convinced.

Anyone else notice how she stiffs through her right nostril and flips her head to the left.

  • #894
UPDATE: I do not smell the evidence taken out of #caseyanthony's car. #fox35

I don't believe they should be allowed to smell the odor. They won't know what they are smelling other than what they have been told, so likley they will believe that it must be decomp because they have never smelled anything else like that. And they really are not in a position to judge, if they have never smelled it before.

  • #896
Not to be gross...but, seriously...would the trunk liner smell of decomp even this many years later?

------------------
Its been sealed air tight.I think it would still smell.

  • #897
Forgive me...I have been outside. Why is JB standing while LDB is questioning the witness?

  • #898
So far... No appearance by the cans that were brought up during jury selection, that contain pieces from the trunk. What the state might call "smelly cans," if you will.

WAIT, WHAT?? They are there.

These are trunk liners, not the death odor cans. The cutouts of that carpet are in the cans. Judge has yet to rule on cans. #caseyanthony

Aren't the odor cans, pieces of the liner sealed in a can?

When they showed the trunk liner, a portion - a long strip was cut out of it. I think that portion is in a separate can and is the can that contains the smell.

and again another smaller sealed box that is part of the spare tire cover.

Our beautiful little Caylee.

I love that pic of Caylee. She could be opening boxes of gifts on her birthday. These boxes in the court room have me trembling with sadness.
