I agree. It would be way over the line of duty to require the jurors to smell the stinky cans. We wouldn't make jurors experience being say tasered as an example so why subject them to smelling human decomposition.

Personally, I disagree. If they had the stench in that can and I knew what decomp smelled like, I would consider it my DUTY to smell that smell.

ZsaZsa: I have a friend who was a court clerk in a county where Mason tried a number of cases (Seminole County) and she has said he was always extremely polite and courteous with everyone outside the courtroom.

My husband had an opportunity to meet CM a couple of months ago and said he seemed to be a nice guy, funny, and the kind of person my husband said "he would hang out and have a beer with." Go figure!

Interesting. Maybe he's learning from Jose then.

and the State hasn't opened one. But my understanding is the Jury will have them in their hands and can open them during deliberations. Will there be jurors who wonder about all the testimony and wonder just how unique the smell is?

Ok, it is optional for the jurors to smell the cans? Not that I get it, but I suppose if it is optional and they choose to - ........

Not something I would chose to do myself if I were on the jury on this case.

Doesn't mean they are discussing the case. I don't see how a group of people can be sequestered for weeks and not speak to each other at all. How awful that would be. Far as I know, they are permitted to speak about anything but the case.

Well yes of course they can speak........but if jb is watching, I'm concerned he may make a big deal out of it.

That's the way I feel. I've smelled dead animals, and such, but I'm not an expert on any sort of decomposition smell. Opening those cans and smelling them would do nothing for me, as I would still only be venturing a guess as to the origin of the odor in those cans.

There is NO way I'm going to sit through hours of arguments about that today. I'm already dreading having to hear the DT present their case. Not because I'm not interesting in what they have to say, I am, but Baez is so long winded, and wanders so much, that it's like watching a foreign movie without benefit of subtitles to me.

Perfect opportunity to post this reminder....

When Baez is presenting...

Breathe Deep......

Hold It........Hold It....

Exhale Slowly....

Guaranteed to get you through those moments.....:great:

I would consider it my duty if it would help me come to a decision in this case. But for me, personally, it wouldn't. And it would be emotionally scarring to me, so I'd pass.

JA was saying he was concerned for the jury. He didn't want them to have to come in for only a few minutes to enter the cans. He said he could do it Thursday morning instead of today. CM was very rude at the idea, and said something to the effect of, "The state has to rest or not rest. I'm not saying anything until they do!" So JA simply said, "Fine, I'll do in in the morning."

Why couldn't HHJP just cancel court today, and JA could rest Thurs?

?Today's agenda....short day, SA will enter cans, DT will request standard aquittal, HHJP will most likely deny.....Is that all that's going on today?

I m issed the last 15 minutes yesterday and I'm going to miss Friday and Saturday since I'm heading up to Michigan to see my family. I "think" someone posted that I can get it on HLN on Sirius. I have to find out! I'll go through withdrawl if not!

I haven't been "home" in a year though so I have to go. Thankfully I know I can catch up here Sunday night!

I'm happy with the SA's right now and don't really see what the DT can do to try to get her even a lesser charge at this point. :dunno:

I have sirius in my car and I posted about it a while ago. I think I spoke too soon. It was good for quick trips because I got updates and some highlights from the trial but we were on a 4 hour trip last week and they kept talking about updates but very few ever came....frustrating.

Anyway, if you have sirius satellite radio you can look up the channel and tune in. I think it's channel 116 for me. PM me if you need more info, I don't want to clog up the thread. :)

See my other post - if it is optional I can agree with the jurors making the choice for themself, though it is not an option I would make if I were on the jury. For myself, the witness testimony was credible and I can take their word for it regarding the smell. We can agree to disagree. :)

Good morning, all. It's hard to believe that this case has been so dear to us for nearly three years. I pray there is finally justice for little Caylee.
